  1. Shocked at the Ezell decision. Not so much with NCS. I think FCS definately stays and I still think CPA will stay D1 (unless they feel their proximity to WillCo, BA and Ensworth is too much to overcome).
  2. Just curious but when was the last time Heritage or W. Blount beat Alcoa?
  3. Commissioners and school board members have been making money on selling land to counties to put schools on for years so that is not a new scam. Now we have the 'Northern' model coming in of construction companies giving kickbacks under the table to contend with. While hard to prove, it can be done. AMEN! COunty commissioners are the first people to tell you how they do their job for little pay but what they do not tell you is how much money they save by controlling the tax structure and keeping their property tax rates low. I have always thought it was interesting that often times it is commissioner that are the largest landowners in a county. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  4. Really nice site! Just curious was Ralph Spangler at one time the coach of Cheatham Co.?
  5. 27 years of lazy teams? wow /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  6. FINAL-Brentwood 2 Mt. Juliet 1
  7. The game is still on but due to wet field conditions the Brentwood/Mt. Juliet game has been move to 5:30 at CROCKETT PARK
  8. As of now the game is still on for 4:30 at Granny White park. We have to wait for the parks dept. to make the final though.
  9. Norte Dames spread offense is the Wing-T in disguise (at least the running game) Thats what a lot of people do not understand. A lot of the spread offense run game is wing-t based (actually a lot of it is single wing which pre-dates the wing-t.)
  10. I do not think anyone every really said how Goodpasture handled their return to DI with players who had originaaly been on Financial aid. I assume they were simply no longer granted that aid money but I remember that it was a hot topic at the time. As for schools moving to Div. II I keep hearing that FRA is mulling it over.
  11. I think it is Nick Patterson. Met him over the winter and spoke with him briefly. I believe that he was most recently at Eagleville with Scharsh. Part of the Rankin/Riverdale group of coaches. My guess would be that he is not a wing-t guy (probably a multiple I guy) but I am not sure.
  12. Brentwood over Ravenwood 4-3 Franklin over Overton 7-4 Franklin vs Ravenwood in loser bracket finals tonight. Winner of Franklin/Ravenwood vs. Brentwood tomorrow at 4:30 at Fly Park. ("if" game to follow if needed)
  13. It is my understanding that they have no intention of competing with Goodpasture or CPA but instead are planning to move into DII. I think Pack, Moore and Page all have experience in DII.
  14. Are you suggesting that he get the job or saying that he got the job?
  15. Thanks for the reply. I hope we can get it in.
  16. Just curious if anyone has heard anything about the tournament considering all the rain we have received?
  17. In 2A I would think west TN. might have a problem with 2 eight team districts while middle TN. has several 4 or five team districts. Does the potential for wild card teams help them out?
  18. I guess this speaks volumes about job security and football coaching. I heard an old coach say one time "the next job you take is also the next job you will be fired from." /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  19. The potential problem is that HHS might have to make its mind up to move up (to 3A)before the actual landscape of 2a is laid out. With the multiplier ending it will be interesting to see what the private schools choose to do. Will FRA actually move to DII (I have heard that was an assuarnce made in order to get Coach Pack)? Will CPA And DCA move to class A or will they remain in Class 2A? Will Goodpasture remian in class 2A or consider a move up to 3A. Will Lipscomb choose to stay in 3a or move down to 2A? Right now it still seems that everyone is playing for 2nd behind Alcoa in 2a and that will factor into the decision making. I do not think that HHS wants to be put back into the alphabet league. They could probably compete in 3A much better. That being said the potential 3A opponents they would be placed with are all pretty tough. (Marshall Co., Page, Cheatham Co., Sycamore, Pearl Cohn, Greenbriar, Creekwood, Giles Co. etc.) I suppose it is possible that they might be able to stay in their current Region but geography is working against them, they are too close to Nashville (as are East Robertson and Fairview). It will be interesting to see what happens. It will be a major decision for HHS and I hope they choose wisely.
  20. I was embarrassed for Mitchell. Reading the Tennessean this morning it sounds like the coach of Mitchell was embarrassed also.
  21. Coaches should check their e-mail today. The entire packet is being sent out today. With game times. If I get a chance I will try to post a link later. Team POOL A Hoover Siegel Tullahoma Marshall County POOL B Coffee County Lipscomb Houston Obion County Central POOL C Soddy Daisy Camden Central Bolton Lawrence County POOL D Brentwood Columbia Central Knox Central Ezell Harding Henry Clay KY POOL E Page Friendship Forrest Cornersville
  22. The fact that the NFHS (not the NHFS) recognizes only one association per state is irrelevant when it comes to scheduling regular season contests. Your assertion that "By rule...publics could not play privates if they secede...at all" is wrong. Article IV, Section 1 of the TSSAA bylaws states, "A member of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association is permitted to play or scrimmage any secondary school team with grades 9 and above in regular season play." TSSAA member schools already compete in the regular season against schools that are not TSSAA members, including even home school teams I am not trying to cause trouble but I really did not think that TSSAA member schools could play non TSSAA members (i.e. home school teams or MTAC teams). Can someone give an example of this happening. I am just curious about the subject.
  23. I think that it is interesting that we see this topic on the baseball board and there is a topic on the softball board about how kids quit playing because they are burned out. I challenge you to look at the number of kids playing HS ball (any sport) and then look at the number that that gets to play in college (any level). The vast majority do not get to play past HS. The fact is most will never get to play organized athletics past the HS level and I think that it is a shame that coaches caonvince kids to play one sport. I believe that the majority of time that a coach convinces that kid to focus on one sport he is doing it for the benefit of his program and not the benefit of the athlete.
