  1. It's a great rivalry. Thats what I don't like about the standard multiplier, If Huntingdon went to Single A I'm afraid we might lose it.
  2. Last night was the first Friday night in 17 weeks I have not been in the stands for a Huntingdon Mustangs game....It couldn't have ended any better, but I sure do miss it.
  3. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA YOU MUST NOT HAVE WATCHED THE CLINIC BOWL!!!!!!!
  4. There aren't any dominant 1A publics.
  5. Your goal was to graduate. Public schools goal is to be competitive in a system where everyone is on a even playing field. What if you had got to the fourth grade and had an A average and everyone decided beings you were an above average fourth grader they would just move you to eighth grade? Would that be fair? No. You had no other advantage over any other 4th graders.
  6. WOW. I didn't realize WC had grown that much. This is just for football. Where can you find the new enrollment numbers? I just used what was on the TSSAA sight.
  7. I say bring them ALL back and spread them out through 6 classes, let everybody get a taste of it. Look this over, lets hear what you see good and what you see bad. This plan is made up of sinjims idea using the following multipliers. Public enrollment 1:1 Private 2:1 Financial Aid 3:1 This is the breakdown of schools per class. 1A 385 and under 50 schools 2A 386-600 56 schools 3A 601-875 56 schools 4A 876-1185 58 schools 5A 1186-1600 48 schools 6A 1601 and over 36 schools 1A 1 Elliston Baptist 2 King’s Academy 3 Tennessee School For The Deaf 4 Trinity Christian 5 Lighthouse Christian 6 Oakdale 7 Greenfield 8 Nashville Christian 9 Tennessee Prep 10 Copper Basin 11 Clarksville Academy 12 Sunbright 13 Coalfield 14 Red Boiling Springs 15 Gleason 16 Cloudland 17 Lake Co. 18 Bruceton 19 Midway 20 Huntland 21 Greenback 22 Lookout 23 Moore Co 24 Cornersville 25 Celina 26 McEwen 27 South Pitt 28 Watertown 29 South Fulton 30 Gordonsville 31 Cascade 32 West Carroll 33 Collinwood 34 Perry Co 35 Whitwell 36 Middleton 37 Unaka 38 North Greene 39 Forrest 40 Jellico 41 Wayne Co. 42 Mt. 8. How can you say that system applies equally??? Huntingdon is one of the smallest 2A schools in the state...the kids in our system have to bust their butts to be the kind of team they are and they already have to play schools with 400 more students than our school has. What kind of message does it send to kids that if they give it their all and are winners that they are punished for it? Hard work should be rewarded not punished. And vice versa, if a school with 600 students for whatever reason can't be competitive in their own class do we want to say well ok you can move down and play schools with 150 students? I know your going to say that private school kids work hard and I agree but, private schools have the advantage so they are the ones who need to be moved up not everybody. Using the multiplier just moves the problem from 1A to 2A I agree but it would be MORE fair than it is right now.
  9. Honestly though baldcoach during those times there wasn't much emphasis put on football during that time was there?? Boyd was a basketball school and had some real good years in the late eighties, I know they were at the state b-ball tournament in that timeframe.
  10. This is just an observation from someone outside the Henry County area. I don't think that the TSSAA will allow you to just drop a 9th grade class and move down. Another poster stated on here on another thread that if there are only three grades then you must add 10th through 12th together a divide to find an average, then add that to your enrollment number. It is my opinion that it's stupid to not let your 9th graders play varsity, given not many freshmen will contribute but they are in the system and learning that system and getting stronger. As your system stands most of those kids probably don't contribute at all until 11th grade and probably most don't get comfortable until they are seniors. It's not a real good sign for a 5A school when 2A schools are continually taking you to the woodshed. (Milan, Huntingdon) I know those are 2 of the best football teams in the area BUT they shouldn't be able to stay on the same field with a 5A school.
  11. I'm not saying it's perfect, only that it makes more sense than what we're doing now. BA would play up anyway, probably.
  12. This is interesting....maybe you could give private schools, open zone schools and magnet schools a 2.0 multiplier, and schools which give financial aid a 3.0 multiplier. Doing this and at the same time decreasing the spread from the smallest to the largest school in each classification by going to 6 is about the best idea I've heard out of this whole mess.
  13. I think you just admitted HTOWN was better didn't you??? Now Huntingdons game week 14 was superior, wouldnt you say? Your QB threw for a CAREER high of like 146 yards. And you had 0 turnovers. milan had 4 turnovers. There is one BIG difference between 98 and this year: The referree's had an impact on that game I will agree with you on this statement though.... Milan was a great team this year.
  14. Rumor Mill: ROD STURDIVANT from Bruceton is interested in the HC position Anybody else heard this??
  15. mustang69, How can you say that? Ya'll didn't beat Tyner! Did you? So you have no right to talk about us being the sixth best team in the State, because you like to make your little friends feel good! You did beat us, but you keeping trying to make it out that Huntington and Milan are the best teams in the State! I would have to agree that Huntington is the best team in the State! They are really good! But the rest are just your buddies, so ya'll like to stick together! That's all I have to say about your abnormally stupid remark! What has Tyner go to do with anything? So what if you beat Tyner? Lipscomb beating Tyner doesn't really make me think a whole lot of Tyner. I'm just giving my opinion based on what I have seen on the field, there is no question in MY mind that MILAN would drub DL. CARVER lost two games, 1 to a 4A school and the other to MILAN and they have the same kind of speed that HTOWN had. Never mind the fact that LEWIS COUNTY drubbed DL in the preseason, it is my observation that if DL and LC had started playing last Friday and were still playing today DL still would not have scored on them. MCKENZIE would give DL all they wanted so I will give the edge on 5th to HTOWNS Carroll County neighbor. I'm not trying to offend just giving my observations. You should never consider Huntingdon to be "buddies" with any of the teams I have listed ahead of DL, but I give respect where it is due in my opinion. There are some classy posters on here from all of our competition however. P.S. you need to let it go against 9yrold. champs....you are making an horses tail out of yourself.
  16. What was obvious was that they were MAYBE about the 6th best AA team in the state behind: 1. Huntingdon 2. Milan 3. Carver 4. Lewis County 5. McKenzie
  17. West Tn teams 1. Huntingdon 2. Westview 3. Milan 4. McKenzie 5. Humbolt 6. Union City 7. Camden
  18. ELA... I appreciate you bringing the news of the proposals, I have some observations and opinions on this subject. All anybody wants is an even playing field, is it the consensus that the Virginia plan does this? Going to three classes is great for the 1A but even using some type of multiplier how can it be fair having a school with 364 students (the smallest 2A school) in a playoff system with another school which has 957 students (the largest 3A school) or 961 students (smallest 4A) playing against 2359 (largest 5A)???
  19. I can tell you this with 100% certainty..... It ain't because some (one for sure) of the privates haven't tried to get em. Kids from Huntingdon don't have to go to a private school for notoriety on the football field, we, along with Milan and several other schools in West Tennessee have rich football traditions. Kids in these towns grow up wanting to be MUSTANGS, BULLDOGS, etc. We do have a kid who makes the 70 mile round trip every day to USJ in order to play baseball however.
  20. Milan and Huntingdon are really not good examples to use in this fight. Milan is one of the top 2A schools in enrollment in the state and Huntingdon's team this year, and I must admit for the next three years are and will be blessed with exceptional athletes. I think the biggest difference in Publics and privates is an depth issue. I remember when Huntingdon played Goodpasture in 99....it was 6-6 at halftime. In the second half Goodpasture was fresh from having SO MANY quality players they just demolished us to the tune of 31-6. West Tennessee plays good football BUT you will probably never see two mores teams comes from this area that both had the depth that Huntingdon and Milan had this year. Just my .02 worth.
  21. You should not punish a school for it's success, IF all are playing by the same rules. Private schools are not playing within the same rules as everyone else. The classification system based on enrollment as we have it now works and it is fair.
  22. Do you have any information on Chris Donald from Huntingdon? Also a kid from Selmer, I don't know his name, but he was GOOD last year as an 8th grader.
  23. I like this list also... Some considerations for 2nd team qb Jason Towater ss Lexingtons qb rb Josh Boyd Camden Ricky Goff (fullback) Milan lb Heath Yoder Camden Brad Cambell McKenzie Desmond Townes Huntingdon Hunter Hastings Huntingdon
  24. Cupples is a good coach but I think they lost practically everybody. Camden will be in the mix next year moreso than CC in my opinion. They will be very senior laden. Riverside was pretty young this year also weren't they? 62A should be very strong top to bottom next year.
