  1. Oh no, I'd still give 5:3 odds of Greenback beating Unaka in round one. I do believe it's very possible Unaka could win though. I however don't see anyway Unaka goes to Coalfield and win in round two.
  2. A potential Unaka/Cloudland match up wouldn't happen till round 3, and would require Unaka to come out of Coalfield with a win in the 2nd round.
  3. Not saying that's how it'll turn out, but I believe you are underestimating the overall incompetence of the TSSAA. In '16-'17, Northview was playing in Single A (in everything but football) with 750 kids.
  4. I guess I'm just out of the loop when it comes to Mind State stuff, but what happens to Whites Creek?? Didn't they used to be 4A or 5A. Enrollment drops like that are crazy (outside of Shelby County Public Schools I mean )
  5. Coach is now trying to sue the league and the officials for "dIsCrImInAtIoN." What a clown. And what an absolute cluster. Youth sports will be dead in 30 years.
  6. To be completely honest, that's about what I expected out of this game. SG can still play some solid D, but their offense has no identity.
  7. Hey brother, you forgot to mention the 1.5-2 hours in wages we have to give up to leave work early Friday. Or in my case, finding someone to pick my kid up from school/secure a babysitter, since my wife works till about 6 on Fridays.
  8. It's an extra $10 if the round trip is more than 60 miles, and an extra $20 if the round trip is over 120 miles. At least in my association. Yes it is a step in the right direction, and I'm grateful for it!
  9. Wonder when the last time Unaka didn't have at least 100 yards passing? Better yet, when's the last time they WON and didn't have 100 yards passing. I bet it's been at least 15 years when Donald was coaching.
  10. Speaking of youth club, I've been watching that Jones boy, and the other kids on that team, for 6 years destroying kids from Bristol, Greenville, and Science Hill on Saturdays, and now he's playing for Hampton? What gives?
  11. No youth program. Barely existent middle school program, over half the kids the MS dresses have never played organized football. Bennett gets them as freshman and pretty much has to start square one. I sure would like to see what he could do with three consecutive classes of developed 9th graders.
  12. Listen, the the targeting doesn't bother me a whole lot, kids still do it sometimes because of bad habits. If it'd been a bang-bang play and he was just a fraction of a second getting there too early, it wouldn't bother me as much. But #53 had Russell completely laid out and bleeding on the turf before the punt ever even hit the ground. It's blatantly obvious #53 had one mission on that play, and it was to take Russell out. If you think any differently, you have no business being associated with football in this day and age. If Carter has one single ounce of integrity, he'd remove that kid from the team, permanently. If me or you tried doing something like that to somebody, we'd be sitting in a holding cell awaiting arraignment right now.
  13. Idk when these SRs were in 8th grade, I saw them put up like 40 on Avery County. Then the next year that didn't even have a team did they?
  14. I agree with Ol' King, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they flirt with a mercy rule.
  15. Yeah "lock down" would be an exaggeration, but it's easily their best run defense in over a decade. Secondary is probably a step down from last year due to youth, but still decent.
  16. I feel like 4 classes was an absolute hit it basketball. Spring sports, not as much admittedly. But the state basketball tournament was one of the best in recent memory, IMO.
  17. Unaka will at least at times have 2 FR on the line. One of them (Wilson maybe?) has the potential to be a darn good lineman. He's got size, good strength for his age, and he plays mean. Against teams near their talent level, I'd suspect their line play to be more then adequate. Against teams like Hampton or Cloudland though, I wouldn't hazard to guess.
  18. The rabbit hole gets deeper... But really. I stand by what I said. If they're AA, they'd almost by default have to come to Region 1, right?
  19. They pretty much went titt for tat. I think it ended up tied, maybe Mountain City had one more score. Unaka actually played very decent run defense. Granted Hampton and Cloudland are far different animals than Johnson County. Unaka was able to move the ball a bit more consistently, while JC scored on broken plays and blown coverages.
  20. I've gone my whole live thinking Greenback was in Blount County I always thought the Little Tennessee was the boundary between Blount and Loudon Counties. Silly me.
  21. Personally, if they are AA, I don't see anyway they DON'T end up in Region 1. If they fall into 1A, it'll be interesting. If Hancock brings back varsity football (I know that's what they want to do) Eagleton will surely be Region 2, right? Now if Hancock can't bring back varsity ball, that throws some variables into the equation. Surely they wouldn't split the two Blount County schools up. I've been saying this for years, but geographically, Jellico hasn't made sense in Region 1 since they closed Powell Valley 20 years ago. Logically speaking, sending both Blount County schools up the road and putting Jellico in Region 2 makes much more sense. Of course that's only relevant if the state has any interest in keeping Regions 1 and 2 balanced. Which they've shown in the past they don't.
  22. King... Just exactly what have you done to the Hamponites? Have you bullied them enough they've just quit or what?? For like 15 years there'd be a Hampton football thread 20 pages deep by now. I swear they brought in 20% of CoachT's traffic.
  23. I expect a big drop off for them. They'll still be very decent, but nothing like the past few years.
  24. If Rutherford County doesn't have the ability to hold one more classification, then they should lose their bid to hold it. It's absolutely outrageous that the 1A state tournament be held at an above average-nice 1A facility and the 2nd worst (and worst draining) baseball field in all of the Rutherford County. Heck, the first 2 years we had to go to Memphis, we played our 1A games at AutoZone Park, Christian Brothers University, and the University of Memphis.
  25. Congratulations to Eagleville. They were IMO clearly the best team in 1A. That said, the TSSAA did a great job of making it APPEAR like they were bending over backwards to give them every advantage possible.
