  1. and they got those 7 wins in 4A. That is what I was trying to say. I was never doubting Maryville. It is much tougher throughout the whole schedule in 5A. Those schools all prove it. wrong they won 7 in 2004
  2. Concentrate on Basketball. that makes me laugh That is everywhere there is a basketball coach.
  3. I see Gallatin as a real threat to go all the way. They could be the west side of the brackets winner this year I for one also am sick of hearing about the 6-5A being the best. I hope Gallatin takes it.
  4. I agree with what you are saying. I guess I was just talking more about Middle TN. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Maryville and I have watched them in the state champ. games and I do believe that they can compete with anyone. However in Middle Tn. it is obvious that teams that drop down to 4A win more than they lose and the ones that have to move up lose more than they win. Kenwood 5A 1-9 and 0-10 move to 4A 8-2 Columbia 4A wins at least 6 or more each year they move to 5A they win 3 Hillwood 4A undefeated a few years back this past year 1 win and fire the coach Clarksville 5A they did make playoffs one year other than that not very good last year in 4a they finish 2nd in region Northeast 4A they win 6 or more 5A lucky to win one Henry Co. 5A 1 or 2 wins 4A they win 8 Hillsboro and Melrose were both in 5A and went out in first round These are just a few. It took me a long time looking at all the schedules and seeing who was 4A and 5A I am sure there are more. ONce again, I am not ripping on Maryville. Heck, I would hate for our little school to have to play them. Well, maybe not, if we were playing Maryville, it would be for the state. You can also go back to AAA when there was just 3 classifications and how may teams that are now 4A competed year in and year out with the ones that are 5A
  5. I knew you Maryville people would go nuts when I said what I said, but I guess you didn't read what I said. I said Maryville would still do fine. However, as one other poster stated, I was refering to the numerous teams that win several games(not just state championships) and they couldn't do the same in 5A. examples: Melrose, Hillsboro,(as was stated) There are many others look at Hillwood in 4A they went undefeated in 5A they fire the coach. Look at Kenwood they couldn't win a game in 5A they go 8-2(I think) in 4A. Maryville is a great program. I was not taking away from what they do and have done. There are probably more schools that dropped and instantly won games. I will check past schedules and put more names to what I was trying to say
  6. There is no doubt that Maryville would still do well in 5A, however, 4A is the easiest to compete in. Look at all the 5A teams that drop down and win in 4A and they can't even compete in 5A
  7. Any defense is good if you have a scheme and you stick to it. THe 5-2 has been good to us and we like using it. I agree, good defense to stop the run!
  8. This is what most people should say. You can be all the things on here that people have said and if you don't win--then you are considered not a good coach. You can be a "jerk" and if you win--then you are considered a good coach.
  9. I didn't know this. This makes me like him even more. I have never understood how the college coaches get it and make the basketball boys workout and then these high school coaches, who many of them were college players, don't use the weight room. Why is this?
  10. I second that. We should start a topic on schools where BB coaches actually want to see the boys playing football also. VERY FEW!! They are afraid they might actually do a workout!! I have been at 3 schools total in my coaching career, and I have yet to meet a basketball coach that actually uses the weight room.
  11. Why do so many people like to get on to coaches all the time. Maybe you guys should get certified and see if you can do a better job. If you are a coach at another school, then be careful what you think and say. What goes around comes around. Just because a coach wins alot of games don't make him a great coach. Many of the coaches at places that struggle work harder and are actually better coaches than many of the ones that just have the best players.
  12. All Middle Tennessee Schools did. Public included. MBA must have a graduate on the staff at the Tennessean!! What a great recruiting tool to have your school on the front page and not even have to do anything else!! amazing
  13. I agree!! oh priceless needs to worry about his Oakland power and go on with it!!
  14. The Wing T has been good to me!! I love it! Most defensive guys don't like to see it, unless they see it several times a year.
  15. :justwrestle: I was wrong. I kept telling 2price that no way Rankin was leaving. Best of luck to who goes in behind him.
  16. I was checking last years scores on the schedule page on henry County and saw that they lost 5 games. Do they have alot returning? Why else would you predict them to the finals? I have to agree with the Maryville choice though. They are the one until they are knocked off.
  17. I think Beech and Clarksville will be 1 and 2 with Springfield and Portland at 3 and 4
  18. If I misunderstood what you meant, then I am sorry. I do like people who take up for other coaches. I've done that myself on here before.
  19. Enough on this!! I hope someone closes the thread. WJ is the coach and he will be the coach for awhile. If they win, and they will, he won't be run off! sorry catfish, he is there to stay. As far as ELA you need to worry about NC football and not about WJ.
  20. Are you sure? I'm sure someone has him going some where else also? You can take that to the bank This is one busy man. He is involved in every coaching job from here to Georgia
