Maybe, but what about the schools that don’t play football. We do have several of those in west TN. Single -A basketball would then be bigger than the other classes and again make it very tough for the schools under 200 to compete.

Schools with 150 kids should not be competing against schools with nearly 400. The proposal I mentioned paired the smallest 32 schools for Single-A. Call it Zero-A for all I care. At least they’d have a fight chance.

Dropping to 3 classes in basketball and 4 in football would pretty much eliminate the bottom half of single-A from being competitive. I liked the proposal that was on the table before the recent reclass.

Oh. Now I get it. You had too far to travel, and you played a bigger school. Just be happy for someone’s accomplishments instead of making excuses.

The host sites are on a rotational basis by area, and I'm sure the snow and ice played a factor in you having to play on consecutive days. Travel is usually tough on everyone but the host. West Junior High made that same trip 4 out of 8 days after playing Bethel Springs the night before the sectional started, and they won the whole thing. That's why tournaments are fun; the cream usually rises to the top.

It was definitely a blowout. And I agree with you….UC won’t see anyone on their level til the regional final or semifinal. For them to lose before then is going to take a gargantuan effort from someone. They have a really good team and they are very well coached.

I agree. Them not being in the top 10 is a joke. But South Fulton played them to a 5 point game. SF has some talent, and UC may have had an off night, but anyone SF plays to 5 is not a frontrunner in my opinion!

Southtowner's Top 6 in enrollment order: MC - 289 SP - 303 Dresden - 316 UC - 356 McKenzie - 357 MASE - 378 I know you can't create a classification for the schools less than 200, but to think they can realistically compete with this is a little crazy. Sure, there will be a flash in the pan every now and then, but come on!

Gleason has underachieved this year. I don't think there's much to say about this game. Other than...hope it's clean and no one gets hurt.

Lots of schools subscribe to that school of thought. I’ve seen a lot of classless coaches over the years. Lucky their good players haven’t gotten hurt.
