  1. The coaches are Todd Wright (OS), Lynn Burkey (G-ville), and Jason Kallenberg(Powell)
  2. they had 20 tornovers for the game 10 by the guards 10 by the post. We scored zero points in transition, that was due to OR doing a great job of taking that away. Lets talk about shooters, we have 2 players who are shooting above 30 %, but yes lets let everyone shoot it. A coach can only do so much, and I know they can't dribble or shoot for us. the reason i know all of this is because i am on the team, so why don't you lay off our coaches, obviously when we didn't score we didn't do anything defensively to stop the bleeding. Our coaches do a great job with us. Maybe you should come to a practice and see there aren't many restraints. Or maybe you should apply for the position!
  3. I don't give a flyin flip what offense you run, when you shoot 13-38 from the field you are not going to beat anybody. Powell went to the free throw line 20 times in the first half but 4 in the second. I am sure that is a sign of poor coaching also. Oh yeah 17 of those shots were inside of 8 ft, somebody has got to put it in the hole.
  4. I know showtime pretty well, and I can promise you he knows more about teams in this state than some of their own fans know. He will get back to you, just happens to be in a place where he can't respond at the moment. He may be biased toward Shelbyville, but if someone was better he would be the first to say, taco is correct.
  5. Congrats ladies hope you get the job done this week. Switchplay, how close are you to the program, i know the coaches pretty well, and they keep the stats pretty hush hush, they want to show the girls that when you put that stuff aside and focus on team, things take care of themselves. Is a shame that Terra didn't get on there.
  6. What a warrior. She is definetly leading by example. We are all so proud of her.
  7. The poll is new but they are 2 games behind. they will be ranked when the next comes out. It was put together before the Powell game.
  8. mtnbikerth, I think you are very knowledgable, and enjoy your posts. I know last night they shot very poorly from the field, as far as the guards I think Ogan is the only one that is a legitimate threat from the outside on a consistent basis, and she has disappeared. I feel Hollifield is the key, she is starting to come on again, and really looked good in the paint last despite the fact she was constantly being hammered on. If she continues to come on watch out, and how gutsy is that kid playing hurt the way she is. What a warrior!!
  9. mtnbikerth, What do you think the issues are, they just look unmotivated, and looks like some are trying to do to much, and some not enough. Blow, i don't kmow if Powell peaked after OR, I don't think they have peaked yet.
  10. I have watched Powell play the last couple weeks, and they just do not look very good at all. they really looked bad against Clinton and Bearden Anybody got any info, they are having a really good season.
  11. YOu know Powell may very well not make it out of here, but to say that OR didn't play well the first game is ridiculous, Powell didn't play well the second game, and still held OR to 38 points, but I am sure that was OR and Powell had nothing to do with it. You are right about Greeneville they have a great coach, and to say Powell hasn't got any better, confused just because they are not beating people by 30 pts does not costitute they are not getting better. This is all getting pretty sad, bottom line someone stated it earlier a win is a win, and teeneage kids are unpredictable, they know the difference between a good team and a bad team and you can sell it as much as you want, but every team plays better against their better opponents. That's the nature of the beast.
  12. Shelbyville, and everyone else is chasing them, but i must say that the toughest region in the state AAA could be Powell, Sev CO, Heritage, OR, Maryville, etc...
  13. Powell pressed in the 1st quarter only. As for the fact they had 2 sophomores in the game that rarely play with 3 minutes to go in the 1st quarter. After the 1st quarter Powell played strictly man to man 1/2 court defense the rest of the game. As far as padding stats, i am glad someone also noticed that Powell has basically 8 kids that all can play, and at one point in time had 1 freshman 2 soph, and 2 jr's ( not Ogan) and was still wearing them out. Funny nobody made a thread about OR pressing Central. Strange!! As for their freshman they beat Central's JV by 50, take your pick.
  14. i believe Burkey has proved himself enough before he even got to Greeneville
  15. that is a true statement about Tenn high, all kinds of talent,but...
  16. No brainer, Clinton is not very good, take one of their scorers away and the game is over.
  17. How is Powell ranked above OR ahter they lost to them on Friday? I will say this On a neutral court i believe Powell beats them, not going into excuses, you just had to be at the game to understand what I am saying. but right now OR should be ranked ahead.
  18. They will find out today if she is clear to play or done.
  19. I don't see how someone can say If OR wins they pull the upset, just because Powell is ranked ahead of them in the rankings, (which really means nothing). I think we all know how tough it is to play there and if Powell was to lose I don't see it as an upset. This program is still learning how to win, and especially on the road in a place like that.
  20. Powell has accomplished a 23-1, and an 8-0 record in the district. They travel to Oak Ridge on Fri.
  21. Powell really struggled at times last night w/out Hollifield. Ogan sat almost the whole 1st half w/ foul trouble. There were 3 or 4 times last night where Powell pushed the lead out to ten and then would fall asleep defensively. Powell's 3 post players were 9 of 33 from the floor Ogan was 1 of 8, they really struggled, but defensively did a good job in the 2nd just struggled on the other end of the floor. I hope that helps.
  22. They should find out today, I was told by some of the players.
  23. Word is that Hollifield could be out for the year with a stress fracture, if that is the case that changes the complexion of that team pretty drastically, but this will definetly be a great game, be interesting to see how Powell handles this week they have a big game tonight at Camp Co, and must make sure they are not looking ahead.
  24. Powell's JV team beat Tenn high by 20 last week.
  25. Could you give em a brief run down of the game. What Kind of D did WB Play. We(Powell) play them this week and was just curious. Thanks in advance.
