  1. Great game. Officiating could have been better.
  2. There have been some very good comments and I agree that Galatians 6:7 is so true. But here are a couple of quotes to add to that: "You're either part of the solution of part of the problem." ((Leroy Cleaver) "There will always be men struggling to change, and there will always be those who are controlled by the past." (Ernest J. Gaines - interview with John O'Brien in Africian American Writers. We all must be accountable for what we say and do.
  3. Well said Stokomo. I do think that these types of things need to be discussed so that we all understand that it will not be tolerated. I am the one that said we cannot control conversations and let me explain what I meant. When are played these kids use the word, the only thing we can do is correct them and let them know that it is not appropriate but when a person says it in such a place where Baker used the word, we can do something about it. Your grandfather was right, uneducated people use uneducated words because they don't know what else to say. We do more GOOD role models, especially in schools for all of our children.
  4. These post can be shut down everytime one is open but that still will not change the fact that Baker is gone and that he should have known better. No one has ever said it was right for the word to be used by anyone but you cannot control peoples general conversations with each other. The problem comes when an adult who is a leader and should be a role model uses the word to descirbe the behavior of another team or group of players that were not acceptable to him. You cannot compare apples to oranges and maybe he felt comfortable using the word because he has used it before but this time he just used it in the wrong place and in the presence of the wrong people. I admire the young man who took a stand not to tolerate the usage of the word from someone that he was supposed to be looking up to.
  5. With all the latest news who knows what will happen at Ooltewah.
  6. Yes, he should be punished regardless to his color. Any person in a position such as his should be held accountable for their words and actions. He should have been a leader and therefore he should have mind in gear before he put his mouth in motion in mixed company. There are consequences for negative comments.
  7. Congratulations Coach on a great milestone. You are very deserving of the honor.
  8. Congratulations to Coach Moore and the Lady Raiders of Cleveland High School for being nationally ranked as # 8 in the nation.
  9. I agree with several of the comments made on this thread. If officials are so soft that they cannot stand the heckling then they need to find another job. If the heat is to hot, then they need to get out of the kitchen. That is a part of sports and fans have the right to say whatever they feel as long as they are not cursing or calling the official by name. Some of them especially refereeing high school sports needs to stop getting their certification at Wal-Mart. They are more interested in what goes on in the stands than what goes on on the floor.
  10. Coach Moore's coaching ability is not even questionable. She has turned the program around and it has not been this exciting to see Cleveland GIRLS basketball in the past 20 years. She knows the game and she has the interest of the girls at heart. Haters never win and Winners never Hate.
  11. The girl at Cleveland, started at Cleveland. She did not transfer from Walker Valley to Cleveland. If her parents chose to pay tuition for her to attend CHS and not Walker Valley, I think that was their right. She is ending where she started. I think the problem lies with transferring from High School to high school.
  12. I agree with the last two post completely but until something is done at the head, nothing will be done at the tail. Some coaches always have their way of getting the word around to players and you best believe that before they do any transferring or any school switching, the coach has gotten information to and from the player and parents maybe not directly but they know what is going on.
  13. Good luck to both teams but to black and gold. The 3 girls and their mommas in the stands that are not happy should not voice their opinion in the stands. Maybe they should be asking for a conference with the coach. If the new girl is out playing their daughters, then they are where they are supposed to be and that is on the bench until it is their time. You have to work hard to be a good athlete. Momma's who have problems and don't talk to the coach are really not accomplishing anything because the people in the stands could care less. If they did they would stand behind the mommas and go to the coach with them.
  14. You are exactly right but I don't think that Coach Moore will allow her team to be cocky. She knows what it takes to win and it is being confident that you can win and not being cocky that you have won.
  15. Congratulations Coach Moore and the Lady Raiders. You deserve the honor. With Coach Moore being the great coach she is, I am sure that the rankings will not get in the way of her getting down to business and that is playing and winning. She is a great asset to CHS basketball, boys or girls. She is the greatest.
  16. HE should be more observant with the books or at least have one of his assistance check it to make sure. As far as him not checking it because he was trying to be pretty is far from being right.
  17. You are right and it is not raideretts. They are Lady Raiders.
  18. You are right, Coaching is there for Cleveland but only with the help of the COACHES DADDY. He always has to have him by his side so that he will make the right decision. He needs to stand on his own and take the blows as they come/
  19. Hats off to the Cumberland County student body and fans. You guys are awsome. I have seen a lot of fan support but nothing like what I saw Friday night. You guys were together as a group and you followed you cheedleaders leadership and that makes a difference. Your team should be as proud of you as students as you are of them as you team because you did make a difference.
  20. It will be a great game and the Lady Raiders will have a huge crowd supporting them to. The Lady Raiders have class, talent and a great coach.
  21. Just for the record, I am Cleveland person and you are still RIGHT. I try to stand for what is right and it doesn't matter if you are BHS or CHS when you are right you are right and when you are wrong you are wrong. All I can say is that everything you have said is right. Stop whinning, arguing with the officials abour every call and play the game. That's where you win, in the game.
  22. Never more truer words have been spoken. My hats off to you.
  23. # 1 - You are exactly right. The team has to have some discipline. If you are going to allow your team to make 30 laps strutting around the gym, require the whole team to do it then it looks like a team thing and not a one man show. #2 - Bradley is a scoring threat on anyone they play because they are a team and they make it a team effort. #3 - I was only commenting that if someone had done something wrong then the people at the table would know. Apparently no one in the official capacity thinks that anything was done wrong and they are the only ones that count. #4 - I don't know what when on at CMS or the girls State Finals but I do know that you cannot win evey game and you must certainly have discipline. Losing to Bradley is not the end of the world nor winning from Cleveland puts anybody on top of the world. Both schools should have enough class to support each other when they are not competing against each other. I definitely agree that even 5 fouls with 5 minutes left in the game would not have made a big difference if CHS had been making their shots. The coach should take responsibility for himself and his players and he MUST practice what he preaches because if you don't practice it, it shows when it counts and that is in the game.
