  1. I know GC would love to set something up. Have you spoken to Sly about this, Tex? It's time to let go of the past now that BC and the county as a whole has established itself. Heck, Soddy shows no animosity or holds no grudge that I can see. Let the games begin in 2006-2007!!! At least in regular season matches and tournaments. Where's the hatchet today and is there even an axe to grind anylonger?
  2. I wonder if this jaded perspective leads to an overall improvement in our moral fiber of society, or decay? It's either one or the other. Where do we stand?
  3. I guess his season is over now
  4. Patton, You've taken this to hard. You're new friend has been fine all along. He was enjoying the exchange. See you guys at state!!
  5. What test? What program is needed to open the file? What's the principle's name & ph. #
  6. I inserted a little info that may clarify why further investigation may be helpful. Tim Able, a very steady veteran official, has witnessed some things of relevance too.
  7. Like an extra match or two.
  8. Perhaps a double header is in order today?
  9. I know that's what he, my son, believes or says. He has done boys that way over the past four years of competition. No offense to you, as you may make it longer out there. I do admire what some young ladies can do against guys(Hope Proctor was one of them), but deep in my heart I feel it's just not right. Overall, I really don't think it's healthy for anyone, physically or mentally or eventually - legal. Once girls master the other sports that are not as tough, maybe they can take on higher levels of competition. usually, 103, 112 and 119 is a training ground for the higher weights, but of course there are exceptions like Danny Coleman, Noman, M. Ortiz- of past, a couple of Johnson's from the left- 112, HT's Adamson-119 (can't forget him now can I?), Mang sure has shown some growth and I would like to see the girl that would beat him now at high school level. heck, he as a sopomore mumped up to wrestle a 125 top seeded caliber guy. Show me any girl attempt that,,, maybe an eskimo from Alaska? I encourage a JV type arrangement that girls take on girls and there are no weigh ins and no official TSSAA records to keep up with. This would serve a was to include girls in the sport, but not risk any further danger or legalities, maybe reduce allegations of text messaging or other issues as well.
  10. Perhaps, your friend will be allowed to join in the consolation rounds. Who knows? Like Sly said, it's between G-ville coaches and the TSSAA. Side note: Being negative and making comments on referees are not the right thing to do. We are all humans and things happen. Let's not classify this ref or any others by a single call or two. Guys, I have learned, first hand, that officiating is a sport within a sport and it takes intellectual & emotional talent to do this. I'm certain it would take two to three years of practice and study for me to be ready for calling high school competition and be credible, but I know I would make mistakes.
  11. This is simply sad... Was a call of this consequence altered by a parent running toward the mats and yelling,,, he bit my son? Suspension from regions and state seems too permanent not to consider some leniency whether this was clearly a bite from one who may have no past history with poor sportsmanship, and the possible influence of a call by a parent of one of the wrestlers. Remember, I've witnessed how tough this kid can get when he's down in a match. Ronnie Carter and Mike Parker, I have no dog in the fight here, but please reconsider the suspension of this Greenville wrestler if there's any doubt of his intentions on bottom. This just doesn't seem to all add up. Dave Sommers
  12. Not to differ, but... Vol, I think you and I both know that the best wrestlers are quite intellectual; although strength combined with intellect is usually the deciding factor against higher levels of competition. Wrestling girls are simply going against what many of our boys are taught from an early age not to do. Is is uncomfortable for many. It's not fair to anyone. My feeling were reinforced a couple of times now that I've seen a couple of girls carried off the mat strapped to a board due to neck/back injuries off simple wrestling, nothing major or irregular what-so-ever. It was odd and left a dark cloud over the rest of the competition for everyone.
  13. Springfield has fine coaching and the most quality people you will find leading their boys. What they say is the way it is. Very honorable folks. They know that their young man at 152 has unbelievable strength and fierce drive. A tough crossface is all they saw and that's why they tried to clarify. They were eyewitnesses and they know the tendencies of their 152, that's why they did what they did. This kind of unnecessary roughness occured a little while ago with this same Jones of Springfield, when my own son was bumped up to 152 and was dropped on his head so hard (from down position too) Tim Able instantly ended the match on a slam, and I understand this is not the first time this has happened. I guess I can say in regard to this issue, it would be wise to investigate further to avoid wrongfully injuring this Greenville wrestler's journey and memories of all his sacrifice in our great sport, which is life. I'm a witness of relevant past events. Eye witness.

Good kid. I know his dad wouldn't mind him finding his way to a higher school of learning, and maybe a school with wrestling too. Good luck from the soms!!
  15. Let them compete with the Boy's soccer team, boy's basketball & football and even swim teams for a real challenge. Let's not keep imposing embarrassment on our boys. Not all are that way as I know my boy would pin a girl in less than 10 seconds, he says. I personally would prefer him not to have such close personal contact until the time & circumstances are right. Not in front of 100's of people
  16. How would two divisions work, small and large? What is the objections to that?
  17. Ditto. This is why we have Brad Fiscus Let's begin today and promote this new movement. We are offering an opportunity for girls to compete against girls in Tennessee this year. This is from the Tennessee Wrestling Federation Website: 4th Annual OPEN USGWA TN Girls State Championships - 2/25 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ...will be held @ McGavock High School in Nashville, TN on Saturday, February 25, 2006. Weigh in will be from 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. with wrestling to start @ 10:00 a.m. Kent Bailo, USGWA Director 3105 Hickory Ridge Lane Ortonville, MI 48462 kbailo@tir.com or call 248-627-8066 Entry fee will be $20 in advance, charging $25 at the door. All entries need to be postmarked by February 18, 2006. This will be folkstyle rules. National Federation rules book will apply with exception of weight classes. Medals for the top 3 placers in each weight class & division
  18. Ditto here. I wonder if special training shouldn't be required to help our young men ignore the natural feelings and hormones they may have while competing? Could it be possible that the chemistry difference may be a little distracting for most wrestlers to execute the moves they know best? Maybe this is more about the entertainment value to those who supports it. Perhaps there are other ulterior motives here as our young women can have plenty of challenge in other sports, including football or boy's basketball.
  19. RMC, If we want to come see you one of these days, should we "logically" begin planning on going to the GA state championships in Valadosta, Brunswick or Augusta in th future? Maybe Columbus would be a nice venue? Eventhough the best wrestling and concentration of fan support comes comes out NYC, they hold hteir state tournament in Syracuse NY (smack dab in the middle of the state) I wonder why? Could "logic" have anything to do with this? MTSU is the geographic center of the state of Tennessee BTW.
  20. Okay am I missing something here? Logic? RMC's not commenting on the equity of a split, but will comment on venues. Well, again, numbers is what this is all about. Find a center point for the majority. I made the comparison of all the hardware (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th) brought home to various parts of the state. Perhaps there is some figures our old friend G. P. already has on this; but to me, it's obvious that much more gas is spent by more numbers going to and bringing home hardware by having a state event in Memphis, Tri-cities or Chattanooga over DT Nashville, MTSU, Belmont, David Lipscomb, Travecca, etc. Am I wrong? As for me, personally, I love it in Chattanooga, but I'm not sure pure logic is used when making Chattanooga a permanent sight.
  21. They met the TSSAA qualifications. Less numbers yet competitive enough to place in the top 8 I believe and probaly will in the individuals. Stove, You're too funny & good natured to be like this. Let's not "...throw stones..." fairly reliable source from someone who turned water to wine; although not sure what level proof (if any) it was. He was quite tolarant I believe in any case I believe. I'm certain these folks were responsible and nothing less (unlike the picture from a few years back of HT and BCB ) I'm proud of what ND has done and will do. Congrats on bringing home some hardware once again, good people of our Chattanooga Irish!!! Please excuse my misspellings before you comment from any dictionaries. Remember I'm a Hixson grad.
