  1. No doubt about the schedule but as I said earlier in the year I don't think the schedule changed in mid-season. WB was blowing everyone out in pre-season scrimmages and they were licking their chops and letting everyone know about it. Then when the W&L's meant something a dn the L's were out numbering the W's the schedule was the excuse. WB you can't have it both ways!! FLOP!
  2. While you hear about "Playoff experience" and "Throw out the records come playoffs" it's hard to get over MoWest last game a sound beating from Cherokee 24-0. I don't think that's the way the Trojans wanted to head into the 1st round. Playoff experience is helpful but when your 4-6 against a very strong 10-0 I don't think it comes into play. That "experience" should have helped in the regular season not a flick of the switch in week 11. Playing at the Castle and a bad taste in the mouth from last years crushing defeat provides all the momentum the Vikes need. Vikings win big in this one!
  3. Why are you so dead set on failing in 05?! It's true we are loosing good players on the D side of the ball some very hard to replace but it's not like it can't be done. Answer this honestly, who would have thought Shiverdecker would have the type of year he had coming in as a Sophmore??? Who is to say that anyone coming in this year regardless of classification can't have a breakout year. While we loose Kline, Tolson, Pewitt, Bingham and Acuff on Offense I think we will be just as good if not better. Replacing Bingham and Acuff while both good players will not be hard to replace because we didn't pass. People say Kline was the best Lineman and he may have been but as a center how many plays are designed to run off his butt? Pewitt while not outstanding was a decent QB and I would hope the coaches develope a underclassman for QB that can help multiple yaers vs. just 1. Defense will take some developement but I would not rule out a good unit. Alot can happen between Nov.04 and Aug.05. Many of the past post say kids are going to transfer or quit. I don't think there will be a single kid that will transfer. To do so would require physically moving and I don't think a parent is going to do that just for football. I realize Carson did and we all know how that benefited him. Some may quit and if they do then their heart was not it anyway. Next years players should come in knowing that there are several positions up for grabs and the off season is their best shot of preparing for it. Coaching was blamed for every kid that quit, I think it was more the kids than the Coaches.
  4. Pulling for the Tribe to go all the way this year. Have to pull for the Region 1 team to take it all. Honestly believe that DB is the best anyway. I don't see any of our other teams in the Region making it past the 1st round but I hoipe I'm wraong. Patriot players are all behind DB as well. There might be a few Red, White and Blue colors in the stands Friday DB, do you have room for us?!?!?!
  5. Let's stop with all the classless chat! What does it accomplish on a Monday morning. I know this is a chat line and that's what it's for but the kids are over it why can't we! I like everyone else in JC did not want the season to end Friday night. Face there is nothing else to do and I loved watching these kids play. They are a fun bunch of kids on and off the field. I know many of them personally and coached many of them as well and they have been that way from grade school. It killed me to see their dissappointment on the field after Friday's game but a few of them did sneak out a smile after a whisper in their ear. I'm sure they will be in the stands next year cheering on their buddies. I wish them well in whatever they choose to do with their lives but 'm not done with them yet so I'm not talking like I won't ever see them again. While I'm preaching let's also let up on the Coach U bashing trip. Should of, could of, would of can apply to anything in life. Let's hope that the underclassmen hit the weights in the off season and Coach U has the opportunity to implement his system for the entire year. Something he wasn't afforded with this years group. I'm proud of these boys and any record they would of had wouyld never change that. Good luck to them and next years squad.
  6. It's a no brainer that I'll be pulling for Karns, with that aside I think it will be hard for CC to pull this one off. Karns playing at home for the last game of the season and with a chance to finish 2nd with a home playoff at stake I have to take them whether I'm pulling for them or not. I know the same is in effect for CC but they may or may not make the playoffs and there is ther fear factor. The DB game was a crushing blow but more physically than mentally I believe and that could not come at a worse time for them. It's hard to believe that in a 2 week period CC went from playing for 1st to possibly not making the po's at all. Congrats and a winning season but I have to pull for my Pat's to make the po's and that means you have to loose.
  7. Pate and Co. will run at will against SD. I don't see this one being close, but pulling for SD.
  8. Who exactly do you pull for! It seems as you have been on a bashing mission ever since you joined CoachT. And for you to talk about the Jeff Co. idiots knowing nothing about football, I have yet to read a single post by you that had anything related to football just trash talking. GO AWAY!!!
  9. Point well taken and yes you did give us tremendous respect and I hope that your fans received the same from ours I know the fans around me respect your program. And I had to laugh about the Sevier Co. overnight stay, as Larry the Cable Guy says' "I don't care who you are that was funny". Hope both teams play well and has a safe trip home.
  10. Please get a room!!!!!! While you have to acknowledge the accomplishments of CC this year and admire the continued dominance of DB, I still can't stand all this "What resturant should we eat at", Class Act, butt kissing, back patting that's being posted, it's warranted but it goes on for 9 pages. I can understand a couple of pages but you know when your 2 teams line up Friday the last thing on your mind will be how each others fans feel about you. After the game shake hands and wish each other well but this madness has to stop.
  11. Patfan they don't play on the O-Line. Both played on O when we played Rhea Co. and Luther played last week due to Williams benching for a game but he goes back to D this week. While we want players to be mentioned on threads don't make something up to put them on one.
  12. Although the rankings are nice to look at and gauge your team against another they don't come into play with the playoffs start. 2 weeks from Friday you will get to see how your team lines up against others throughout the state. There is only 1 time that matters if your ranked #1 vs #2 and that is after week 15. Never seen Riverdale play but understand they are outstanding and lord knows there are enough threads to read about them but I have seen DB play when we played them and although it was a very close game they deserve being ranked in the top 2. I'm sure these 2 teams will get a chance to play unless an upset occurs and whoever whens I hope they take it all.
  13. Answer this honestly anybody. Do you really think there is anyone on this team that could go D1. Remember I said honestly without hesitation and no if's, and's and but's. My thinking is Luther could go small college, likes Furman, possibly Yeary on O-Line, Cox may punt somewhere but kickers are on a need bases not want bases. That's about all I can think of. Hopkins has the perfect frame for the game but not the head. He should be dominating on the line and it's not happening. Love to watch Huskey play but no size. Great bunch of kids but I can't see many advancing past their Senior year. C-N may offer partials or invite as walk-on's.
  14. Although East rolled over West and Volunteer played East a much closer game, I believe West will win by at least 2 TD's. West is playing for playoffs but more so I think pride. Definately not what they had planned for the season but can take pride in making it to the playoffs.
  15. Hard to agree with you sometimes Barnyard but you have the game assesment right this time. Deep passes did work this week but throw some in the game plan not just when we need a 1st down. I do question play calling on this game. Team issues need to be addressed but we can't question or dictate the way a coach disciplines his team. Kline was not paying attention during films even after being told to, not the 1st time they have had problems with him this year and Williams said he needed to work on his car not a good excuse. I still support the Coach U but I find myself scratching my head. The team is better than record indicates but the record determines whether or not you advance.
  16. We're all just hanging on right now. Nothing is worse than knowing you have to hope someone else has to loose so you can make the playoffs. First and foremost we have to win out. I said the same thing after the Karns game and didn't think I would have to repeat myself. We just took a plain old A-- Whuppin Friday night in ever phase of the game. Shivy played like a Sophmore tonight but who would of thought he would have had the kind of year he's had so far. Our D melted down for the first time and the O dissapeared after the 1st qtr. Tonight is really the first time this season that I was totally disheartened with the play calling. We ran 3 offensive plays all night and threw in a few passing plays. Guess what the passing plays worked and we had one dropped that was an easy catch. Why did we wait till 3rd down to pass? Pass on 1st or 2nd to keep the D honest we waited till it was an obvious pass play and by that time Sevier was going to bring the house and take their chances. Hopefully we will have more than 2 games to play this year, these kids deserve more!
  17. Probably the best quote you have ever done 4life! I do agree it is a big deal for a coach to get involved, it's a must. What I was saying is that this coaching staff got the season started off behind the 8 ball and it may be the end of the season before they can promote the players through game tape and stats, that's all. Yeary was an outstanding guard but for the betterment of the team he was moved and I think he welcomed the move. If you are a true athelete those skills will come back to you should a college coach still recruit them at their previous position. The college ranks are filled with kids recruited for a position they haven't yet played or moved after being signed. I totally agree with you on Whitehead as he has done wonders for my son as well and will continue to do so.
  18. Sounds as if a CC player or fan is trying to fire up their team! First post plus calling out players?????? If you can't get fired up without trash talking this time of year and after your first successful season then you shouldn't be playing.
  19. It just kills me when a person says "this is the best 0-7 team in Tennessee" what kind of disitinction is that. Do you get a trophy for that?! Don't know anything about Volunteer but I hate for any team to go winless, except WB, because any team that straps it up and works hard throughout the year should enjoy the thrill of victory just once.
  20. DaDan read the post again before you start something! 4life do you know for sure that the staff is not already doing these things? Let the staff concentrate on the 3 remaining games and playoffs, they are catching enough grief as it is for a 4-3 season. Remember with the exception of Brimer they are new. I guarantee the kids would rather the coaches concentrate on the 3 remaning games and playoffs instead of wondering if they sent their name in for player of the week. If a kid is good enough coaches will contact them somehow.
  21. Whitehead works great with the kids and has their best interest at heart. Just go to his place in the off season and see who he's working with. Couple of kids may make jumps next year and surprise you. I'm not talking D1 but small college possibly. Don't jump on Coach U so quick, remember he got his feet thrown to the fire right off the bat. I believe with having a full off season to get his schedule and plans in order it will show with the 2005 team. In the meantime 2004 still has a lot of games to play.
  22. Well # aren't we the witty one. Usually enjoy post from DB fans because they know football, have good topics and add insight to post. Your "Then do what everyone else in JC does. Take your weekly bath!", leads me to believe that while you may be from DB the association to other DB posters who bring to CoachT what I listed above stops with you. DB folks talk football on post not taking shots at others. I'll have you know we take at least 2 baths a week whether we need them or not in JC.
  23. DB should win this one by at least 14. I know we will be pulling for them and anyone else that plays Karns the remainder of the year after our slip up against them a couple of weeks back. Hopefully we will get the chance to play DB again. I just want DB or JC to represent when Riverdale is standing in the way.
