  1. South by 10+, after yet another slow start. Rebel #1 will be a zig zagging machine on that turf. What did ya'll do with all that good grass anyways?
  2. Toppers by 10. Betsy fans leave sad. Stacy's sideline antics and "sweet words of encouragment" gets yet another free pass from the zebras.
  3. I've got Science Hill by 10, in spite of Stacy. Go Stacy, go Stacy, go Stacy, Go!
  4. Now that is a good post. + a bunch. NCboyfordb, stop with the jibberish. I enjoy some banter and gouging, but your posts are mindless. And I'm not a homer for any specific team, but you certainly make db fans an easy target. Maybe Batman can sit you down sometime. Even the everlasting antagonist, Waco, makes more sense that you. Go away little boy. Back on subject, my gut tells me TN High keeps it close for 1.5 quarters, and South wins by 2+ tds in the castle. I would like to see the new turf in the castle, but that will have to wait. I'm going to Elizabethton tonight. I hope I get close enough to hear all the "sweet words of encouragment" to the zebras from Stacy.
  5. Well shut the front door! I like mine with lettuce and tomato, Heinz 57 and french fried potatoes. Big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer.
  6. I just read the article on in the JC Press, and evidently Science Hill has now beaten Greeneville, DB, and South. I guess I was wrong all along; scrimmages count now.
  7. hahaha! Yeah, we'll see. Pal's will be representing in a big way at least, come week 1. Hope they won't be serving drinks in the suites, or someone may need to help a certain politician down from up there. No names.
  8. I really think it's sad, when we talk about anyone, even the T$$AA, "holding a kid back" from going to UT and getting an education. That's the goal right?....to use athletic ability to earn an opportunity for an education, so he will have a future after football and can change his family tree? Scholorship to college is the goal, right? Well, if a college education/scholorship is really important to anyone, why wouldn't he or anyone care enough about their education and behavior in high school. If any school, coach, or teacher, is contributing to this behavior (like allowing a kid to take a bunch of PE classes) then you are doing great harm to the young man. I believe in giving kids a chance when they do stupid things, and second chance. Teenagers make mistakes and do stupid things. I may be a cynic, but if a kid demostrates a continued pattern like this, ya reap what ya sew. Sad, but, this is the real world.
  9. I don't see Johnson County in 3rd ahead of North. Didn't Johnson County play TN High really close for a half last season? I 'think' the Viking passing game in the second half allowed the Vikes to pull away. Closer game than the score showed. But, how will the 2014 Viking's passing game look this season, considering graduation effects on your passing tandem?
  10. RebRaider, Yes, the load of running back for Rogersville last season was Evan McCracken. But I think he has hung up the pads, deciding to focus on Track and Field. He was shot put state champ as a sophomore, I think. My thoughts on Cherokee, is Coach Sivert typically has them hitting hard and they typically play most teams close. Last year with South was very close. In light of news about the RB not playing, the scoreboard descrepancy could be larger.
  11. Anyone want to make a wager, and give me the 35-40 points? (Boone concession stand food?) I expect Betsy to win, as well. But 35-40 points. Wow! If that happens, I guess you can serve me a big 'ole crow burger. Hold the onion and mustard.
  12. Uhh, ok.? From the posts from Batman and others, it sounds like the view of progress doesn't get better close up.
  13. Good point, Lawnman, all opponents will be up for both Elizabethton and South this year. Don't look ahead boys. I for one, would like to see them both undefeated when they meet at the end of the reg season. South, for example, faces a tough Cherokee team in Rogersville this week, with a load of a FB. Mobuck you say?! Gonna load momma and the kids in the station wagon and go see this one. I'll wear a hat so anyone there can recognize me and say 'hey'.
  14. How's the massive upperdeck and stadium upgrades coming? I saw this from the road today, and have to say, there looks like a huge amount of work left to do, even from far away. You guys gonna slap up storefronts like the fake city on "Blazing Saddles"?
  15. On paper, Elizabethton should roll. But I never underestimate a Jeremy Jenkins team. They have a great way of surprising "better" teams.
  16. CyclonePrider, Pujo, etc, There is very little to take from this jamboree. "Unicoi beat South"?.... uh, ha-ha, ok. Here's what you can really take from this jamboree: 1. South is really loaded. The QB will play Div 1. Very skilled bunch of Rebels. If they are healthy all season, they have the good chance to get back to the semis like the 2007 and 2009 Rebels, and maybe to state for the first time. If I were Unicoi, or other underdog teams, I probably wouldn't talk things up too much, like Johnson County and North did in 2008. (Hint: SWVA wins don't mean anything either). Check CoachT scores from that season to see how those games turned out. I think South scored 35 point in a single quarter at Johnson County. Ouch. In all fairness, I don't foresee Unicoi talking smack, before somebody's daddy fusses at me. 2. Elizabethton is really really good too. Looked solid across the board and showed depth with their star RB waiting for the real season. By the way, great decision to not play him in a jamboree. The Elizabethton / South game should be great again this year. South really scored pretty easy on Betsy, until they pulled their starters early against Betsy, so I guess the real season matchup should be a high scoring affair. 3. This conference, for this season anyways, is just like the Big 7: there's the top two teams and then everyone else fighting for the 3rd spot. Probably gonna be North. 4. (for Pujo) The Unicoi RB runs hard, and he is quick. When he got outside on South's, well, non-starters, he scooted well. If your team is one of the 1A - 3A teams that plays Unicoi, you better contain at DE, OLBs need to make the correct reads and make plays in the flats. Otherwise, the BlueDevil rb may make it a long night for you guys. 5. Jamborees are really boring and just a health risk to the players at best.
  17. Curious, as I have not seen the a DB scrimmage: Type of Offense this year? With only a 1 point Indian victory over Farragut in the very friendly confines of J. Fred in 2013, how is this year's game at Farragut expected to play out on the 22nd? Looking at Farragut's 2013 season record, it's hard to get my head around that team. They lost by 1 to DB, lost to Science Hill but still scored 42 in that loss, beat Oak Ridge. BUT, were destroyed by 4A Fulton, and Maryville of course. A little Jekyll & Hyde. The Admirals could be a dangerous team for the first game.
  18. Gents, With a little internet huntin' and peckin', there are indeed several choices on multiple days in our area. A few listed below. ** beside the game I'm gonna try to hit.: Thurs 21st Volunteer @ Happy Valley ** TN High @ Johnson Co Crockett @ East (Greeneville at Science Hill - Scrimmage) Fri 22nd South @ Cherokee ** Elizabethton @ Boone South Greene @ Central Sat 23rd - the annual Motown Doubleheader ** West Greene @ Morristown West Alcoa @ Morristown East
  19. Yes, not a great sport, Charlie Brown. When losing, he's one short step away from throwing himself on the turf and acting like a spoiled 3 year old in a grocery store. I've personally witnessed three Friday night occasions where he was way way out on the field yelling and cussing at the zebras. The refs seem to ignore him, or at least cut him more slack than others. What's up with that? <conspiracy theory> Am I the only one seeing that. Maybe I am nuts. haha I used to actually praise the guy and his success at Sullivan South, but I'm really starting to think those last 4 years he was at South was actually due to the standout the athletes he had. My thoughts on him are shifting, however, based on the fruit I have witnessed him producing. Angry potty mouth isn't a good look. For the record, and in fairness to their student athletes, it sounds like this years Topper team is loaded. So that talent, in itself, will hide coaching shortcomings. I have always thought, if SHHS could simply get the athletes that walk their halls on the field, they would be much improved and contend with DB every year. And so it is.
  20. At best: 7-3 At worst: 6-4 Then the early exit in the playoffs.
  21. 7-3 at best in regular season. Possibly 6-4.
  22. LA? Never heard of them. Big boy talk here.
