  1. Once again 3pointer I concur with your unbiased analysis of 13AA. I agree with your assertion that the Wizard of Westview is the best X & O man and totally agree with you/disagree with TW that Bellamy was more valuable to Westview than Farrell. Taking nothing away from Ashley just an observation based on more times seeing them play than either of you. David Russell is no doubt the master at running a program overall. By the way, my 13AA/7AA Challenge thread isn't getting the kind of passion I thought it might create. Maybe everyone's off the board for the weekend.
  2. So far all we've heard from are the naysayers from the Upper Cumberland who don't give anyone else any credit. Where are Devilfanatic and others who've given 13AA some props in the past? Even if we went 0-6 I think it would be great for girls basketball from an interest and possibly a financial standpoint. And just to clarify my proposal, I'm not talking a tourney and certainly not including boys (I'm afraid we all know who would dominate there). Just six games head-to-head in some format much like the ACC/Big Ten Challenge each year.
  3. Actually Steve Patterson got the girls program rolling at GC and was followed briefly by Mike Henson. Both of them have gone on to successful stints elsewhere including last years Class A semifinal between Trenton Peabody & Huntingdon. Patterson moved on to begin the program at Madison Academic Magnet in Jackson and Henson returned to the state semis this year at Huntingdon.
  4. I'm a bass anyway, although gall bladder removal shouldn't affect my vocal range.
  5. Thanks for the kudos redbirdfan. Had a lot of time to think about stuff since I went on the D.L. with surgery. Hate I missed both state tournaments this year.
  6. No way Big Brother would be at home. Be sure to check out the new thread I posted.
  7. I give redbirdfan props for the original idea posted but I've given this some thought. These two districts have become, acknowledged by most, the toughest AA districts in the state and the subject of a lot of posts over the past two years about who is better. What better way to address the issue but a challenge series at the beginning of the year.(Maybe over Thanksgiving weekend) Several possible formats but however arranged I think fans from both districts would go nuts over it! Challenges would be based on previous years district record with 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2 etc. Dist. 7 has seven teams so their last place would get left out. Sorry. For example next year would have: Livingston Acad. vs Gibson Co. (state tourney rematch) Jackson Co. vs Westview (state title game year before) Upperman vs Obion Co. York Inst. vs Dyer Co. Cannon Co. vs Crockett Co. Smith Co. vs Union City You could play single games at alternating home sites or maybe double or tripleheaders at the larger high school venues. (I'm not familiar with 7AA facilities but Gibson, Dyer, & W'view have large seating capacities) There's not really a good halfway point geographically to bring everyone together for one weekend. Clarksville and Austin Peay's Dunn Center was the closest I could come up with. One thought was to have a tripleheader in Nashville and one in Jackson with 1's, 3's, & 5's at one place & 2's, 4's, & 6's at the other rotating each year. Lot's of options that could be best worked out by the schools themselves if it came to fruition. I know there are a lot of movers/shakers that post on this board. If everyone agrees this would be a good thing for HS B'Ball in the state someone put some wheels in motion. Let's hear your input.
  8. 3 Pointer, your observations on 13AA next year are very insightful and I think very fair. Based on past posts I'd have to include you in a small group of unbiased 13AA observers though I know you're a Gibson Co. fan. Nothing against fans who trumpet their teams but I love hearing from people who can discuss things realistically. I broadcast Westview games and my son played at Obion Central so I'm very familiar with 13AA over the years as well. With the rabid fan bases that both 13AA & 7AA seem to have and the long distance rivalry that is developing on this website I want to follow up on something redbirfan proposed. I'm going into detail on a seperate thread but wouldn't a 13AA/7AA Challenge series at the beginning of the season be awesome! Maybe over Thanksgiving weekend. Several possible formats have come to mind. I think there are enough movers/shakers on this board to make it a reality, especially if the T$$AA finds some way to make a buck off of it!
  9. In total agreement. I hope Gleason wins tomorrow night but if they don't Trenton-Huntingdon final is quite possible and what a matchup!
  10. How about a little love my man. After all, we're Greenfield's home station! I really needed a puke bag last night.
  11. Gleason-Trenton Region 8A score should be Trenton 83 Gleason 53.
  12. I have observed that many hospitality rooms are more into "presentation", how it looks, with finger foods and such. We broadcasters don't have time for socializing and finger foods we want supper! My picks over the years, in no particular order, would be South Fulton, Dresden, Lake Co., and Gibson County on some nights.
  13. Andy is out with a torn ACL and wouldn't play anyway. I too am proud of he and Justin for being firm in their beliefs.
  14. Ouch Wes, better not stop at the Krystal in Selmer! Check with The Beave to get the McNairy lowdown next time.
  15. Excellent idea O' Heavy one. Carter would need more than a puke bag. I know there's no way to please everyone but why change from the blind draw when it's been effective for years and builds the suspense? Further proof that T$$AA is the appropriate acronym! Districts 7AA & 13AA are united in their dissension! I certainly hope that coaches who reach that level of play would not tank a game for positioning.
  16. How about a little love here! Is there no one following Southside or Camden that knows exactly when this game is scheduled for?
  17. Can someone involved clear up what gametime is for Southside-Camden. Jackson Sun has it Saturday at 7:00 but also has girls semifinals scheduled for 6:30 and 8:00. Is it a 5:00 start maybe? On Friday when they play 3 games tip times are 5:30, 7:00, & 8:30?
  18. I was doing color for Paul last night, as I have throughout the year, and he did not intend to imply that Ronald Ward was biased in his officiating of a game of his alma mater Union City. The point he was trying to make was in the past officials were not put in a situation where there bias could be questioned. Ronald Ward is one of the best officials we have in West Tennessee but it's not fair to him to have to call a Union City game. He will either be criticized as a "homer" by the opponents or catch heat from Union City people for going overboard the other way. I blame the assigning officer. Ronald did a great job and deserves to call tournament games, just don't give him Union City. Or anybody else for their hometown or a school they have a connection with. Good officals should not be placed in a situation where they can be second-guessed. There are too many other tournaments out there to have that happen. Put a little thought into assignments.
  19. What happened to McNairy Central in the 12AA tournament. First they lose to Southside then get killed by Bolivar.
  20. Who is the #1 seed Bolton or Cordova?
  21. Moderators, it's time to LOCK this thread!

Following the same train of thought I used on the boys board my Most Valuable player to their respective team is Jenna Roney of Obion Central. Most Outstanding player would probably be Whitney Baird of Gibson County in a slight nod of Latoya Bellamy of Westview.
  23. Antwan Coby of UC or Jason Black of Westview. In the truest sense of most valuable player to their team I'd go with Black. Chargers have no direction without him. If you call it most outstanding player Coby is a highlight film.
  24. Congratulations to The Wizard, Purty Paige, & all the Charger ladies on a big win last night. Couldn't believe the score when I got the first update. Wish I could be there tomorrow night. I know Charger Arena will be electric. What's on the Hospitality Room menu for Monday when I return?
  25. I want to take this forum to congratulate the LC Falcons for their win over Trenton & spot in the District finals. I had the privilege to coach/teach each of these young men in Jr. High and wish them the best of luck. This years Freshmen class especially is counted one of my favorite groups in my career. Good luck against the Tigers and I'll see you guys at the region.
