  1. I see from the length of your post, not necessarily your tone, that it is obvious most Ensworth people are too busy to care. Thanks for caring to share your insights.
  2. Interesting you point to all the championships the girls have won. What about the boys sports? I stand corrected on my previous post. I should have been specific as to point out that the baseball, cross-country, tennis, wrestling, and whatever other sports they have don't share the success that football and basketball has. If Bowers were coaching those other sports would they have championships too? No doubt he is a superior coach, that's not up for debate, but are Enworth's eggs in the football and basketball basket (male sports)? If yes, then why. If no, then what's holding them back in those other sports?
  3. Agreed RedRobin. I wouldn't describe them as chokers. They are an extremely talented bunch of players and Bowers has them playing their best ball. Should be a fun tournament to watch. Too bad Bowers doesn't coach any of their other teams... seems only football and basketball (the teams he is the head coach of) only do well. The other teams don't seem to fare as well.
  4. The final four is set. What does everyone think about the matchups?
  5. Baylor travels to play Ensworth. If Baylor can contain Ensworths guards and limit the touches from the big kid inside then Baylor has a chance. If Baylor were to pull this off it would be a great upset. MUS travels to Chattanooga Mccallie. Mccallie must play a hot MUS tram that took out Brentwood Academy. Mccallie has loads of talent but can they get it going at the right time? Not sure of the other games. Should be a good weekend.
  6. Baylor beat BGA and plays at Ensworth. MBA beat St. Benedict. MUS beat BA and plays at McCallie. That's all I know.
  7. Looking at the scores in the paper it seems McCallie had its way with Tyner beating them by nearly 20. CSAS appeared to struggle somewhat with Grace and Red Bank lost to Baylor earlier in the week. Just goes to show that any team can win on any night. Good luck to all Chattanooga teams come postseason play.
  8. Howard is improving and will be ready to go when district and region play begin. They looked much improved last night at their tournament.
  9. This game was sloppy! Not a great game by any definition. Red Bank beat Ooltewah 66-62. By far the best game I have seen this year. Red Bank is pretty legit!!!!!!!!
  10. This should be a fun tournament to watch. One question, how did Notre Dame get invited? I thought this was supposed to be some of the better teams in the Chatt. area and ND is not a good team. Seems there could be other teams that could challenge CSAS. MONDAY 4:00 CSAS vs Notre Dame 5:30 Tyner vs Baylor 7:00 McCallie vs Dade County 8:30 Ooltewah vs Red Bank All Games at CSAS Main Gym
  11. Wow! That's a lopsided loss. CBHS must be good!
  12. What do both teams have? I know Tyner lost Bradley (UConn) and Mccallie lost Price. Saw Mccallie in at day at Cleveland and they looked average. Don't know about Tyner. Anybody have any thoughts on this game?
  13. I saw Polk County, Oak Ridge, Bradley, McCallie and Cleveland play. Here is my rundown: Polk- aggressive 2-3 zone. Had a big man in the paint that played well and seemed to be their only player. The kids played very hard. Oak Ridge- extremely athletic and fast. Undersized against larger teams but outstanding 3 point shooting. They will make an impact in their district/region Bradley- don't have many of their players from football, but are typical Coach Smith style. They play hard and have great shooter. McCallie- lost their Mr. Basketball from last year (don't know why), but seem to score easily. They have a big kid in the middle that anchors the post for them. Cleveland- a very imprssive group of athletes. They press the entire game and like to shoot the 3 ball. They can easily score and will a force to deal with in their district play. Anyone else see anything?
  14. Mccallie runs a zone? since when does Wadley run a zone? Unless things have changed from last season, I remember seeing them in man most of the time. That being said, Tyner looks to move on and learn from this game. McCallie plays an always athletic Ridgeland team.
  15. Looking at the box scores it seems like Bradley was not an integral part of Tyner's offense. he scored 4 or 5 points. What gives? Was he in early foul trouble or was it just an off night for him?
  16. I know tyner has a big center that is going to connecticut. They play mccallie tomorrow. Has anyone seen mccallie play?
  17. Rumor is that Coach Potter didn't want to play them.
  18. A good game tonight as McCallie hosts Brentwood Academy.
  19. Hoover is a great team with an outstanding football program. They win because their players buy into the coach's philosophy of not making mistakes. Have you seen them play in person? They don't make mistakes (many mistakes). At least ones that don't get them beat. That is a crdedit to their staff and the work ethic of the players.
  20. It may not be as one sided as you think. This rivalry is always a great one, no matter what sport and no matter what the records are of the teams. While McCallie should be favored don't count out Coach Clark and his team. They will be ready to play.
  21. Maybe it's because the football season ended so soon and their expectations aren't as high in football as they are in basketball.
  22. It's a good thing you aren't a defensive coordinator.
  23. He was an 8th grader and played defensive line. Yes, he was good not only for an 8th grader but for a varsity athlete.
