  1. The book FNL was amazing! Definitly the best book I have ever read. (Thanks for the recommendation Coach Grissom!) It sort of reminds me of my high school but most people in my town don't go to those extremes. I am so excited about going to see the movie and I hope it does justice to the book. If it's better than Remember The Titans I will be extremely impressed because Remember the Titans is my all time favorite football movie. Me and my best friend watch it every Friday. I know every line and song in that movie by heart. And I still cry when Gerry and Julius are in the room together after the car wreck! Although Hometown Legends comes in a close second along with Varsity Blues.
  2. Well, the guys sure played better than I thought they would. Those guys played their hearts out. Our defense looked sharp tonight, but at some points the offensive and defense line's looked lost. Sometimes they didn't block worth a plug nickel and at some points they looked spectacular. It just seemed a little inconsistant. By the way Josh Anderson had a AWSOME game. If he stays commited he will be even better when he's a senior. I guess I under estimated both teams and I didn't do the best job when I was doing my football homework. But I guess I should expect the unexpected.
  3. After last weeks game, I personally think that Greenback will even have a hard time making it in to the playoffs this year, much less win the region or even have a shot at it. The Coalfield game on Friday is going to be tough an as much as I hate to admit to it I pick Coalfield by AT LEAST 14.
  4. Wow..It's been such a long time since Greenback has been embarassed like they were on Friday. Midway's offensive and defensive line's man handled Greenback's line. We didn't do diddly squat to stop they're running game and they shut our offense down. (Glad I wasn't on the bus coming home on Friday. I heard it was a really quiet ride.) If these guys don't get it together and shape it up then I'm afraid the score will be EXTREMELY lopsided next week.
  5. From what I've heard this should be a pretty good game. With this being the homecoming game and the loss to Sequoyah last year, our guys want this game real bad. But if they don't come out ready to play, things could go down the drain fast. Good luck you guys! Keep working hard because it will all pay off in the end.
  6. kingbrian, I was talking to Greg's mom in the press box last night and she mentioned that she thought something was wrong. He's had a lot of trouble with his ankles lately. Greenback certainly was not on the top of their game last night. I expect to see the real Nation next week. Keep workin hard boys! I go a cold hollerin for u all last night!
  7. Thank you all so much for being so concerned. They still think coach might have had a light stroke. He went to the neurologist today. I haven' t heard anything but I will see his youngest daughter tommorow. As for the young man who was taken to the hospital Monday, he is doing fine and he should be back to playing soon. Thanks everyone and GOOD LUCK TOMMOROW GUYS! PLAY HARD!
  8. From what I understand, coach's pnemonia just got worse. Then he had an allergic reaction to pain medicine. he had to stay over night, but he is at home recovering now. Not sure if he'll be back this week, but if he's not WIN IT FOR COACH U GUYS! Get well soon coach! we love you!
  9. Well Trophy, you do have a point. The secondary did do a much better job and are much improved. But in my opinion they are still not up to par with some other schools such as Boyd Buchanan. Although they did do and excelent job of stopping the passing game. Like I said if they put their hearts into it like they did last week, this should be one interesting game. I hope I can be there next week. But even if I'm not, GOOD LUCK GUYS! Hey Trophy, what's this I hear about the headset's going wacko?
  10. I think it's really terrible that people have petitioned so much to get this multiplier rule. Personally, i think it stinks. But I am really hoping Greenback and CAK will continue playing each other and continue on a great tradition in both schools.
  11. I must say I am sincerly sorry about what others say. I really want CAK to know that not all Greenback people talk trash. Yes, while there are a few that do, there are people who do respect CAK for the program it is. In my opinion, CAK will be a staying power in 1A for years to come. Also, I must commend Harb. He has obviously made great strides in the off-season and during the summer. He handles pressure very well and can handle whatever anyone asks of him. Good luck you all! And my sincere apologies about Friday.
  12. Greenback had a really good game last week. I think that if we come out and play all 4 quarters like we did last week, it should be a pretty good game. But their is the big if of Greenbacks secondary. If they don't shape it up, we're in trouble. What kind of offense does Gordonsville traditionally run?
  13. Here's my take on it. When I've played tackle with no pads with my buddies just for fun, I can hit just as hard as some of the guys. Physically, I am built pretty much the same as the guys, I can jump just as high as they can, I can hit as hard as some of the can, and I'm faster than a few of them (mostly linemen, but hey I'm workin on it). I think the thing that seperates guys and girls is mental toughness. I know I don't do well under pressure. But I think if a girl can be mentally tough and be on the same playing level as some of the guys then why not? Just as long as they're parents sign a parental agreement form. (Unfortunatly I'm a daddy's girl and that won't happen in my lifetime) But hey, this is just my opinion.
  14. The running game looked good for the Nation last night. Those guys really stepped it up this week in practice. It's been rough week for those guys and I think they have really come together as a team. Some of our younger guys stepped up last night as well. I also must commend Greg Way and Thomas McDonald. Their play on both sides of the ball was critical. Greg is turning into quite the all around player. Thomas McDonald is doing the same. He needs some improvement on d put he's really looking good on offense. Next week will be a tough game but if the Nation keeps up the hard work, I think it will be a great game! Good Job you guys! Keep it up!!!
  15. I'm not sure I would count on the defense to win this one for the Nation. Although I do think we have a decent running game, but if we can't stop the passing game then we will get slaughtered. Although I still say Greenback in a last second t-d 21-14
  16. This should be one interesting game. But like I said if Greenback's defense doesn't step it up and the offense doesn't step it up it will be one sad game.
  17. GHSGAL2007... I know that G-Vegas has a decent team this year but i don't think you know what ur talkin about when you say we are going to spank CAK. Both teams are pretty evenly matched and it will be a close game. So I don't think we will "spank" them by any means.
  18. Personally, I think if Greenback's secondary defense doesn't step it up...WE'RE TOAST! But I still have to root for my homeboys and say that I think it'll be G-Vegas by 3.
  19. Not to offend anyone or anything, but Pigeon Forge's defense didn't look so hot, but hey that's just me. But then again neither did Greenback's so I think this game will be very close again. Hey didn't Caleb Moore from Greenback and Chris Smelcer from Greenback wind up at PF
  20. Anyone know about any of the 1A games? I would really like to know about the CAK and Sunbright games. Anyone have a clue?
  21. William Blount over Greenback 0-7 Maryville over Gatlinburg-Pittman Maryville over Sevier county Alcoa over Pigeon Forge Seymour vs Heritage?
  22. From what I heard there was a nasty fight as well. But all that aside a young man from Greenback needs your prayers. On the way home last night one of our players had a ceisure and had 2 go to the hospital by ambulance. He was released to come home but the doctors are still not sure what caused the ceisure.
  23. Does anyone know why Joe Kemple and Tyler Morton weren't playing last night?
  24. When I left Greenback was winning running 2nd and 3rd string defense and offense. I left at about 7:30 so I gotta talk to some of my other friends on the team and see how it turned out.
  25. After watching the scrimage last night I would say that Greenback still needs some work on defense. (I couldn't really tell though. By the time I got there the 2nd and 3rd strings were in) The secondary defense was lacking especially in the corners department. But then again there are 3 more weeks till our 1st real game. That break should give the Kees plenty of time to work with some of those guys and for them to improve
