  1. Go to www.tssaa.org , click on the news icon, then bulletin board, most of the coaching positions will be listed here.
  2. PF lost to McMinn Central last thrus. 96-62. Didn't look good against a tough McMinn Central team. PF plays Sevier Co. on Nov. 29.
  3. Greenedevil Mom, That weak GP team played their rearends off and gave the mighty Greenedevils a little scare tonight didn't they?
  4. Sorry, didn't mean to make it sound like last year had any impact on this year, just referring to a post that seemed to IMPLY that PF could not compete with Greene County for some reason. Obviously these are completely different teams so who knows.
  5. Where is the new kid from and what is his name?
  6. Any info on Union Co. and Kings Academy last night. Anyone playing in a hall of fame this week? PF is at McMinn Central Thursday.
  7. Yeah they had a real tough time with Greene Co. last year. Oh wait I forgot they were 16-0 in the district. You forget PF is only in their sixth year of existence and they already have a district title and a trip to the substate. That's in only three graduating classes. Pretty impressive. Plus South Greene's run ended the day they ran Ricker out of town.
  8. When is this game? Where is this game? I would have to go with Union without seeing either team
  9. Tonight at Seymour Seymour, Kings Academy, Gatlinburg Pittman, Heritage, Sevier County, Pigeon Forge
  10. There are a few problems with Pigeon Forge's schedule. Here are the corrections Nov. 29 Sevier County @ home Dec. 2 Seymour @ Home There is no game with Seymour on Dec 20 I have added out two Christmas tournaments and the rest is correct. Thank You.
  11. Sounds good, it's just odd to have a scrimmage after 3 practices.
  12. Scrimmage after 3 days of practice with a new coach and they looked good. Sounds like maybe Hancock started a little bit earlier than everyone else.
  13. Thanks for the clarification. I love watching Cosby play. I hated to see Coach Flatford go, I thought he did a wonderful job. How did they do this summer? I know they have a load of talent. Will they go back to the Cosby of old and fire the three from every where or will Blakely still get it inside?
  14. I think it was removal of a shirt that would get a T.
  15. I thought we had a great board last year. What are everyones preason picks? I know they don't mean much, but it is fun to talk about. I would expect this district to be very even again. My preseason picks are 1. Claiborne- Nickel should (could) be player of the year in this district. Estes shoots the lights out. 2. Cumberland Gap- Brim and Fultz will be tough to stop 3. Rutledge- Lost a lot but they played a lot of young kids last year. Hudsdon is a Stud and Reischling will be tough 4. Gatlinburg- Lost 3 Key seniors, but played harder this summer than they have in 3 years. Could shock some people. 5. Pigeon Forge- Lost about 80% of last years offense. Graduated 5 seniors (3 starters). Have a lot of inexperience but also could surprise 6. Union County- Could be a long year. Lost a lot off last years team and did not look very good this summer. I think Claiborne is the clear favorite with C.G at 2. Those two are probably a notch above everyone else. 3-5 Could go in any direction with those 3 teams probably being pretty equal. Those spots could come down to coaching in the end. 3 best players in the district are probably Nickel, Hudson, and Fultz. With Brim and Estes real close.
  16. A no call could be potentially as bad as a bad call. What about an obvious offensive pass interference in the end zone as a no call or a blocker tackles the cornerback on a touchdown run (both hypothetical, Im not venting anything) those no calls could change the outcome of the game.
  17. Don't get so defensive. I did not bash officiating, I just think there are some needed changes. I never suggested a supervisor at every game, but they should see every team play at least once. Why not do like the SEC and other conferences and allow coaches to send in film on plays they thought were to be reviewed every week, or every other week, so that officials can get better. High school officiating is one of the only jobs I have ever had (yes I called high school ball in Georgia, by the way they have the same problems) Where I did not have to answer for my actions at work. As far as officials quitting because they are held accountable, that is a joke. The guys that would quit are the bad officials. The good officials want to get better and want to work to make the correct calls, therefore, they will not have a problem with advice from a supervisor or getting together to watch last weeks film on Wed. evening. Who cares if the bad ones quit. Evbentually you will get more officials taking pride in what they do and striving to do better. I understand how hard it is to call a game, I know noone is perfect, I just think the system could be better.
  18. The problem with your argument is that the teams don't charge admission, TSSAA does. They get all of the proceeds from the game. Therefore, it is basically an exhibition fundraiser for TSSAA. In all reality the games should probably not count at all. It is the same as the preseason exhibitions in college basketball. I say treat all games that way and only count games that start after the ligitimate date for the first contest. By the way, if a coach does not count it because they lose, then they shoulc not count any of the stats from that game.
  19. I thought you had to be a teacher to be a Head Coach?
  20. Ken Wright at Gatlinburg Pittman, Sectional and Substate appearances, plus the schools only Region Championship. Also brings a AAA State Championship from Georgia. One of most well respected coaches (among other coaches) in the state. Always gets the most out of his team.
  21. It's not the calls that bother me as much as the lack of accountability. I realize it is a tough job ( impossible to be perfect), I realize all officials are going to make mistakes. I also realize that 99% have no bias and truly want to do the best that they can (some do bring personal feelings onto the field). My only problem is with the evaluation process. I am more familiar with our basketball officials than football. But I know that there was not a supervisor at a single basketball game to evaluate the officials all of last year (our games only). I think this is rediculous. If an official chose to, and I realize 99% of the time they don't, the official could make any call he/she wanted to and determine the outcome of a game. Sending tape in to TSSAA is a waste of time.... There needs to be open communication between TSSAA, officials, and coaches. I just think the system could use a little tweaking. By the way this is not just a Tennessee problem, I have heard the same thing all of the country.
  22. I think the top two is the way to go and I know that there are districts that have 4 teams "deserving" of making the playoffs, but I here people now complain about regions having 5 or 6 teams making the playoffs (Region 2 AAA and they are probably right). The point is that good teams are always going to be left out. If you go back to two teams then it means more to make the tournament. If you cannot finish in the top two in the Region then I don't feel you "deserve" anything. People talk about earning respect on the field, well you must earn your right to play in the STATE tournament. I agree it is great for kids to get to play in the state playoffs, but do you really think a player feels wonderful because they made the state playoffs with a 2-8 or 3-7 record. It has to be a tournament that is prestigous and you are taking away from it when you water the tournament down,
  23. PF will wake up and get the win tonight.
  24. Dont know how you find PF as odd man out. If PF beats Gibbs and loses to Claiborne then Gibbs would have to beat Seymour or Rutledge would have to beat both Union and Carter to knock PF out. If PF beats both Gibbs and Claiborne they are in as either 3 or 4. If they lose to Gibbs they are out.
