  1. BTW- Brandi Goodman plays for the Obion County Central Lady Rebels who finished as State Runner-Up in Class 2A last season. It's indeed a great group of young ladies to choose from in Class 2A .
  2. Coaches, Please consider Brandi Goodman as a AA Miss Basketball nominee. She is currently averaging 22.3 ppg, 14.1 rpg, and 2.3 bpg and a University of Memphis commit. Maintaining her current pace and with a decent tourney run she will have a chance to break the all-time state rebounding record of 1720 held by Nikki McCray of Collierville/Lady Vol/WNBA fame. She is 36 points away from 2000 with seven regular season games left. She is the two-time reigning MVP of District 13AA and two-time TN AA All-State selection. She has led the Lady Rebels to 1) state runnerup her junior year finishing all-state herself; 2) setting school records for victories in a season twice (32 then 35); and school record for victories in a 4-yr stretch (112 and counting). Brandi maintains a 3.9 GPA. Thanks for your consideration, --
  3. oc pride said : Just hate for people to be misled into thinking the kids aren't doing anything at all. Or that the coaches all quit on them. never said that dude- the newspaper article a couple of weeks ago that printed his resignation stated he was spread to thin and had too much on this plate- My previous statement on this matter speaks for itself.. Article also stated the assistant coaches are in charge of the off-season program and that statement stands on its on. If someone in the capacity of head coach resigns they are no longer the head coach. When all the little ducks are finally in a roll and a NEW COACH is officially named, everything starts over with a new direction all things of the past are just that, in the past- including the PREVIOUS Head Coach.. Like to see the Rebels turn the page and set out on a new course which comes with a new head coach.. It's a simple and common sense approach.
  4. He is no longer the head coach. Is he going to stay on at the school and be just a plain ole teacher. ? Highly doubt it. But you seem to be knee deep in the Kool-Aid so inform us of what role he is playing now.
  5. Don't know if Dude got another offer or what. But It was a big suprising when he left- as far as the Jack of all Trades comment- well, it's a high school, not a college facility. Sometimes you have to wear many hats and do more work besides the X's and O's. I understand that a good crop of applicants have showed interest in the position- locally and from other areas. OC hopes to have a head coach in place before the Christmas - so an off season program can take place and get the program back on a solid direction and footing by spring.
  6. South Fulton could also make some noise in that 1A district that features Humboldt, Lake Co., Union City, Greenfield, Brandford. etc. Much more parity in this district than in years past. Covington had two transfers come in from Haywood and one came in from Brighton. They'll be tough along withk Bolivar. I've been told SouthSide out of Jackson will be the team to beat in the AA west and could easily be in the BORO-- still have to get thru the Memphis teams which is always tough. Look for Westview boys in 13AA behind Covington and then a cluster of teams fighting it out for 3rd/4th spot that includes Haywood, Ripley , Obion Co., and Crockett.
  7. Not my sweep. Just a gut prediction that barely came true. GC is well Coached and Wilkins had those girls ready and the GC press caused problems for OC who committed 24 turnovers. OC made the move during the 4th qtr. comeback to put pressure on GC in the fullcourt and caused some turnovers as a result. Goodman with 30 and the Lady Rebs had some other kids step up late. GC had four in double digits. Not a deep bench but the ones they have played well. Should be an interesting rematch at GC in January.
  8. OC boys have some talent returing this season and the most depth they've had in a while. Will be very competitive in 13AA. Another loaded district with Covington maybe the early favorites to win the league.
  9. Guards will be tested this season but OC will be very tough to stop inside.
  10. I have recently been imformed that Covington will be the team to beat in this district. HELLO!! That's why you play the game. You PLAY to win the game!
  11. The Big Red need to be focused this week. If they play their cards right, they will have a classic matchup with Covington in the state semifinals.
  12. tfb35- the Jennings girl left the team at the end of the school year last May. She started a lot along with Macy in the backcourt. It will be a big obstacle for the Lady Rebels this season with an experienced front court coming back but they have some young talent coming up- they just lack some experience and one may not see the full effect of what this team can be until January. The Overall team experience factor in this district still favors Westview- but again- you don't play games on paper. So, as always, it comes down to who executes the best.
  13. I hear UC and OC aren't playing in hoops this season.. Sup wit that?
  14. Westview could have a leg up just based on the fact that they return everyone and some talent that is returning as well. Covington has both Precious girls and have been well coached the past couple of seasons- made the sectionals last season and should be hungry to get back. As for OC- the Lady Rebs- return Univ.of Memphis commitment in Post Brandi Goodman and also starters Ali McEwen and Shannon Wiggins-- they will be challenged at the guard spot with the graduation of 1,700 plus points in her career in Macy Wright and also will have to replace some of the departures from the team at the guard position who no longer are playing. It may not be until January until we see what team that OCCHS will have- Gibson co. has a new coach and it'll be interesting how the Lady Pioneers will come out in what will be the last year they play in this competitive distirct. D'burg is always athletic and well coached but , like OC, they will be challenged at the guard spots. South Gibson, Milan, Ripley and Haywood- remain a mystery. Crockett will improve- but still young.
  15. Wayne Co. should have Purple & Gold all over the streets and town by the time this one is over. UCHS should hang another 40 on the scoreboard like they did last week. Too many athletes for the Defending Chumps to handle. Read in the newspaper this week that UC and OC aint playing no more in Football because something going on between the coaches.. What's up with that??
  16. Nobody should judge this year's Rebels team by one game. UC is a solid, fundamentally sound and well coached team. OCCHS should rebound this evening vs. a Ripley team still in search of an identity. I doubt it will be a shutout like last year, but the Rebs should have a leg up in this one.
  17. Don't know if you skipped spelling class there Mandiggy, but as it relates to the above line- it's spelled feet. As it relates to the game, I watched OC's jamboree at Henry Co. the other evening vs. Camden. Although young in some spots, they show a lot of potential. They must keep UC from those long 7 to 8 minute drives on offense which is what happens when one runs the Mid-Line Veer. If OC can keep the Tornado offense off the field and stay away from turnovers then they'll have a shot on the road in what has been rumored to be the last time they'll play in football. It'll be the 51st meeting with UC holding a 38-12 advantage all time but OC has won 7 of the last 10. Always fun when these two schools get together, no matter the sport.
  18. Didn't know if the Williams kid was playing for Covington or not. If he's there- it gives them another weapon on offense. the returning RB , Johnston White I believe is his name, is the real deal. He's legit and will play at the next level if he chooses. Covington will be tops in the area of rural West TN in 4A,

  20. ball control vs. possible big play capabilities. UC's Mid-Line Veer is tough to defend if a QB can make his reads and a strong Fullback can loosen things up inside. The Tornadoes have that. Can the Rebel Defense beat them to the flanks and contain the ground game. If UC has some of those sustained 8 to 9 minute drives, control clock and limit turnovers , it could be a long night for the OC. OC with all new skills set starters will have to see if the offense can make some big plays and quick strike scores. Not the scoring machine of last year but if they can keep drives alive and keep UC's offense off the field, then they have a shot. UC apparently has some 'statements' to make so we'll see if they can make them.
  21. I look for an exciting game- both teams always get up for each other.
  22. Before all of yall get into a P i ## **%% contest, someone needs to make sure that Obion Central gets this season's football schedule posted here on Coach T. Only a few games listed vs. the teams that have complete schedules on here. I don't think UC has theirs up either. Informative.. Gracious..
  23. Who are you refering to Son of mandigo? as it relates to the QB?
  24. changed my mind in regards to what there fella?. Some folks need to get their hearts off their sleeves. It's hard to breathe sometimes depending upon your position We all can be a realist and while still hoping the "best" for the kids. UC/OC has been interesting in their gridiron matchups the last few years. Looking forward to see if OC can make it 3 in a row over the Purple & Gold.. Getcha Popcorn Ready!
