  1. Sounds really good for Maryville. It is exciting to see all of the Blount County teams starting to get serious about their baseball programs. There is a lot of talent in the county; always has been. Hopefully this is just one of many positive steps for the local baseball programs.
  2. Crosby hit two homeruns. The first two hits of the game for WB. He parked the first pitch he saw, then another one in his 3rd AB.
  3. Sounds like a great game! Does anyone know who was on the hill for WB?
  4. That's what I hear. Which is a shame, because WB always has pitching talent; just doesn't get developed.
  5. I saw Holland first-hand when he was just a freshman and a couple of times since then. He's the real deal. But, I think WB surprised everyone by taking Farragutt to extras in the first game! Unfortunately, WB probably does not have much pitching depth to match up against an ace like Holland and SD's offense. Not to mention, WB is notorious for getting off to a slow start with pitching.
  6. Yeah! "Stormin" Norman is a heck of a coach. But, can't forget about Coach Farr. He has one of the best practice schedules and overall structure that I have seen in high school baseball.
  7. From William Blount's site... Not one of the Govs best games Full Story http://thedailytimes.com/sited/story/html/204778
  8. Considering that it is a Perfect Game list that is compiled for Prospects Plus, I dare say that he has played in showcase tournaments, which is what I meant by that. Showcases are not limited to events where you line up and show off your skills for scouts at combine-type events.
  9. One of the players did go on and play at another school, and now he is on a baseball scholarship in college. Another one of the players came back and played for Maryville later on, but personally I think he should have been on the team for all four years. I am not sure about the teams coming out of 4AAA, but I think that is correct. Those are the only teams I can remember getting out of the tough district tournament and moving on to regionals.
  10. I do not know the current situation at Maryville, but when my class (2004) had baseball tryouts, there were several high school level players that were cut at Maryville. I'm not talking about players that might have played J.V. but some of these guys would have been big contributors to the Varsity club. I know of a situation where one guy was cut for a petty problem that went on between one of the coaches and the kid's exteneded family. Situations like these may still go on over there, I really do not know outside of these situations that I know about in the recent past. Also, Maryville is football school, and a lot of people just do not care about baseball, and that is probably how it will always be.
  11. Thanks for the info DugoutDad... From my understanding, the game was played at Farragut.
  12. Good to see that William Blount gave Farrugut a run for their money. Does anybody know who pitched for WB, and have some highlights of the game?
  13. Most of these lists are compiled from summer showcases, and not from actual games that are played during the spring. Haun may have not gone to the same showcases that some of the other guys went to, so that could be why he is not on the list.

    Hey DHeat

Where are you getting this about Young? I highly doubt that he'll ever play again.
  15. Actually, the score in the ETP and East Cobb game was 5-2. The pitching and defense by ETP was increadible.
  16. Good luck to my boys at Alcoa. Glad to see that somebody can represent Blount County for us! I hope ya'll can find enough arms to pick up some W's in Memphis
  17. Cory is going to Chattanooga State. I expect see him play DII or NAIA once he has gone through Chatt St
  18. William Blount has produced quality college prospects in the last few years, such as Reece McMahon (Cleveland St.), Chad Cunningham (Chattanooga St.), Kevin Hagey (Walters), and Reid Davis (Maryville College). WB also has a few seniors that should produce in college: Cory Williams, Craig Wojciechowski, Phillip Tucker, and Justin Young. All except Young have commited to colleges and if he desires, Young could be an excellent college player.
  19. Look for William Blount to take the tourney. They have been rolling through the competition all year. I think they are apx. 23-5
  20. William Blount handed Cleveland its lone loss of the tournament with an 8-5 victory.
  21. WB's Tucker is back. He threw earlier in the week on Wednesday. I think his arm is doing fine now, I haven't heard anything more about him having arm problems.
  22. That's good. I didn't realize that Coach Norman went back to Seymour.
  23. I think that Scott Norman (former Seymour coach) is an excellent pitching coach and can do some good for any high school pitcher.
  24. I believe that Hagy is at Walter State and Cunningham is at Chatt. St. but Cunningham is out for the year with a thumb injury.
