  1. I know Miami was in this past week and that it wasn`t the first time they have visited JCM. North Carolina has also been here. But just from what I have heard I`d say UT, Bama, and Ole Miss are at the top of his list. He is originally from Mississippi and his nickname is "Mississippi". If I had to pick one at this point, I`d say UT looks good.
  2. LOL Dingo! OK...I won`t complain about your posts anymore. Maybe I can dig out my old Thesarus and join in the fun. I`d hate for coacht to be forced to start an intellect board. Man...could you imagine all the threads that would get locked up on that board? VG(whose endeavors to verbalize comparably with the lofty measure of Dingo may go awry, but would epitomize my fondest expectations should I be able to author posts that are half as exemplary.) 3. I just want to congratulate Daniel Brooks on his award. I haven`t seen a thread commending him. He is truly one of the best players in the state. Recruiters from all over continue to roll into Jackson for his services. As a JCM fan, it was a pleasure to watch him. As a UT fan, I sure hope he is on the hill next fall. Also....kudos to West TN as they took 4 of the 10 lineman and back awards.
  4. I don`t think that is what he was saying at all. I also think it was pretty obvious.
  5. The following was posted by dirtdauber on the football board and I wanted to respond to it. Since I didn`t want to turn the thread on the football board into a p/p debate, I am going to repost it here and then respond.
  6. Why not try this. Instead of cheering or whistling or clapping when a team does something good, all coacht people could just stand up and give a great big Gomer Pyle..."HOOTY WHO!!! HOOTY WHO!!!" That can be the secret call of coacht members. VG(who nixed his idea of coacht members streaking across the field while carrying a big coacht banner at halftime of the 4A game since the cold weather might make it too embarassing for some)
  7. I have seen several articles in the press that don`t like the idea of a split. Granted this one is probably the most sarcastic. There have been many on here that have tried to say that a split is a dumb idea. I`m not surprised at all that a lot of media aren`t supporting the idea. Does it surprise you that there are people outside of this board who can sit back and look at the overall situation and disagree with the coaches vote? BTW...How did I contradict myself? I went back and reread my post and didn`t see it. Maybe I didn`t make myself clear.
  8. I suppose you are talking about this story... http://nashvillecitypaper.com/index.cfm?se...s&news_id=18143 Most articles that I have been able to find basically say the same as Mr.Phillips. A split is a dumb idea. It`s only ading fuel to the fire if you want to kick privates out.
  9. MeanJean...I`d have to disagree with one of your points. I don`t think that most people who post on here that favor the private side are necessarily wanting to stay in the lowest divisions. Most of them are just opposed to a split. I know there is a lot of banter of why they should move in the first place, but for the most part would accept some type of move. My opinion is that there are private schools that should stay in 1A. Finding a solution to keep all the schools together is the stumper. I hope in the end the TSSAA accomplishes this. If some privates are moved up,then I wouldn`t care if some 2A or 3A public schools don`t like it. They just need to shut up and play ball. The TSSAA can`t make everyone happy. I don`t think the TSSAA wants to split the schools up. If they come up with an alternative plan, we should all just accept it and move on.
  10. Nope...they went from 2A to 3A. Trousdale`s student population was going to force them to move from 1A to 2A. That`s when they decided to move to 3A. They stayed in 1A as long as they could. They were totally dominating 1A and didn`t so much as budge from there until they were forced to move to 2A. At that time they decided to move from 2A to 3A.So for jrh3109 to say that Satterfield moved voluntarily from 1A to 3A is not an accurate statement. It`s true they went from 1A to 3A, but it was not voluntarily. He should have said Satterfield moved voluntarily from 2A to 3A. Here`s a link to show where Trousdale would fall within 2A. http://www.tssaa.org/Classifications/schoolstable.htm [Edited by VolunteerGeneral on 12-5-02 7:43A]
  11. OK...It`s time for more than one of us to go to BED!!! VG
  12. And a Feliz Navidad to all of you. If you are having trouble reading this thread, then stay away from the public/private board where you`ll encounter posts like this one from silverpie... "(which is a more rigorous form of what lazarus did) Note that there may be errors in what I did. When analyzing by private/public, private/private, and public/public, the differences turn out not to be statistically significant (to put it in plain terms, you'd expect to see a difference at least that significant 11% of the time, a number we call alpha--to be considered significant, that percentage should be less than 5%). Adding in the Division II games makes the differences even less significant (alpha goes up to 17%). I think the structure of D2 distorts the data. The difference by classification is significant--alpha there is just 2.2%. Again, adding the three D2 classes (which averaged 27.3 in small, 15.1 in medium--counting the overtime final as a margin of 0--and 17.4 in large) reduces the significance. I also analyzed the D1 data by round. This turns out to be the most significant factor of all (alpha of just 1.6%); averages are 25 for the first round, 19 for the second, 16 for quarters, and 15 for semis." Hey don`t say I didn`t warn ya, VG(Help!!!)

  14. LOL...pujo! Dingo....I admire your wide use of the English language. But I have a much easier time reading pujo`s Roan mountain English version.
  15. Swamp...That`s a good question. What is fair? With over 300 teams divided into 5 classes, that`s around 60 teams per class. There will always be inequities in every class. Teams like Riverdale, Maryville, and others dominate their classes. In 1A you have some private schools that are doing very well. You also have some that are ok and you have some that are not good at all. To just say privates dominate 1A because they have unfair advantages is not fair IMO. There are other private schools that don`t dominate. Most people like to pass those off as schools that don`t concentrate on sports. That`s simply not true. I know TCA and JCS both work hard at developing sports programs just like most other public schools do. I`m sure they find it frustrating at times to play USJ and others just like I`m sure there are teams that are frustrated having to play Maryville and Riverdale. It is simply in the eye of the beholder. Maybe being from Williamson County is an unfair advantage. If you take Page, Fairview, BA, Brentwood, and Franklin you`ll find that their record against out of county teams is 41-11. Of course that includes Page. If you dropped them off it is 37-6. Should we ask why is Williamson County so dominant?
  16. Hey Jaxman...It`s nice to see ya back on here. Did JCS have 2 Melton`s on the team? I know Bryan, but I kept seeing another Melton`s name in the paper. I think it was Nick. I`m looking forward to see how Will McDonald does for JCS. He is going to have a great career.

  18. To the best of my knowledge... The new 3A magnet school (Liberty) will have approx. 900-1000 students. This is probably the school that will be taking a chunk of JCM`s students to move them from 5A to 4A. Liberty will take over part of JCM`s current zone. 750 of these students will be zoned to Liberty and around another 250 will be magnet students. They will be any students zoned for JCM, Northside or Southside that wish to attend Liberty. The other school (I think they are going to call it Madison Academy. I may be wrong. It`s mentioned in the paper as Madison Academic Magnet School. Which may indeed be the name.) will be located on the west campus (Oman Arena side) of the current JCM campus. It will be fully magnet. They are suppose to be offering all sports except football. They will compete in 1A. There has been rumors that anyone attending this school that wants to play football, will be allowed to play for JCM. Other than that, they will play all other sports for the 1A magnet school. So both new schools will have sports.
  19. Hey sistersdream...did you get my "hey" message to Coach Crawford?
  20. 1A..Pack of CPA or Marley from USJ 2A..Mitchell`s coach or McKenzie`s coach 3A..Ridgeway`s coach 4A..Melrose`s coach 5A..Ron Crawford of Brentwood
  21. Correction...Satterfield did not go from 1A to 3A voluntarily. He went from 2A to 3A voluntarily.
  22. Owl....That`s exactly what I have been saying. Thank you for your support. You must know that my son will be on a 4A team next year. And you must also know that they will have a restricted zone from which they can get kids. And of course you know that there will be two magnet schools in Jackson, which will probably take away a player or two. And it is obvious that you know maryville is a dominant 4A team that will probably win yet another championship this weekend. And you certainly know that they can get students from wherever they choose..out of city, out of county, even out of state. I`m glad that you see that Maryville has a distinct unfair advantage over my son`s school. I certainly agree with your assesment that we should make it fair for everyone. VG(who wants it fair for everyone)
  23. Hey Laz...I`m going to have to read this another time or two, but I commend you for trying to come up with a different solution than a split....SALUTE Laz!! My first question is how would you divide the classes in each region? I`m just assuming that you would start this system out by using student population. I`m going to try and present another idea that I have been thinking about as well. Good job Laz!
