  1. Congratulations Walker Valley! Coach Morris and staff have done a great job with that program. The 215 Laney ??“ Simpson match was closer than I expected. Anyone have details to share?
  2. Thanks for the post BBB. Congratulations to Baylor; the best team that I have seen this season. Not quite the same without Coach Morgan at mat side, a true gentleman.
  3. Freedom Hall? Has the S.H.I. outgrown Steve Spurrier gymnasium?
  4. It might just mean that it??™s more difficult for a Blackman kid to get ranked because his coach is the ranker. Coach Hamm is probably tougher on his own kids to avoid being accused of favoritism. I would be. Congratulations to Blackman. A huge win!
  5. I didn??™t think 'Soddy tournament talk' fit this thread. He mentioned a wrestler that only wrestled one match Sat. (I thought that meant Saturday). And he mentioned a second place Independence finish which also matches Saturday at Soddy. Maybe I have my Saturdays or my tournaments mixed up. I apologize for my previous post in my obviously confused state. Thanks for the kind words, but I have only one son. Either you have me mixed up with BCB or I??™m really in sad shape if Jake has a brother that I can??™t remember.
  6. I think everyone knows that Independence is a very good team right now. I also think that the Indy coaching staff is greatly respected for their team??™s success. Your post, however, disrespects the Soddy achievement Saturday and undermines the hard work of their wrestlers and coaches.
  7. Hulk, you might want to go back and read the last two posts by maj, I think he did offer a solution i.e. changing the structure of the tournament to allow more teams initially, ensuring that the best teams ultimately get to compete. You??™re right about me though, I was just complaining. I don??™t particularly care for the current wrestling duals??™ classifications, and I absolutely hate the new classifications. You asked for my solution recommendation, and then set me up to fail by suggesting that the following parameters would have to be met: 1. Fair across the board 2 .Can??™t set up regions according to team strength 3. Feasible across the board concerning travel I don??™t think it??™s possible to set up a classification system that is fair to all while giving no consideration to team strength and assuming that no one is willing to travel. Sorry, but I??™m not going to step in to your trap.
  8. I??™ve got next to no credibility to offer an opinion towards the twenty plus year term of Mr. Carter as TSSAA Director. He has reasonably broad respect in our state as far as I can tell, so he has probably done a marvelous job through the years. But with respect to just the past few years that I have been around Tennessee wrestling, I??™m with maj. Add to the list of TSSAA decisions that do not promote Tennessee wrestling the new AAA Duals Classifications beginning next season. Based on my very lonely, unsupported posts on past threads, I am apparently in the minority of Tennesseans that wants to see the best possible field of 16 teams in the tournament. The new classifications will leave teams like Soddy, Ooltewah, and Walker Valley at home. All three of these teams are easily top 16 D1 AAA duals??™ teams this season and probably next season as well, yet only one will earn the trip to Clarksville. I will probably understand how providing opportunity for weaker AAA squads is a good thing at the same point in which I understand how girls??™ wrestling is a good thing. Oh yeah, add that to the list too.
  9. Thanks for the thread Da Bears. I made a couple of changes to your post where our coaches moved some guys around. The Bears looked very good tonight; congratulations on another win. We appreciate the Bradley fan support too!
  10. You can??™t ignore what you don??™t hear. Don??™t underestimate the impact of enthusiastic, energetic, loud fans and coaches. Even if a wrestler doesn??™t admit it, it can make a big difference.
  11. ru4mocs, you're right. It's the kids that are hoping to make the list that anxiously await the next ranking. The ones that don't look still hear about it. 2blLeg, thanks for the clarification! I think a few of the kids that are ranked might be better off if they were not. It seems that some wrestle harder to get ranked than they do to stay ranked. I don't know if they relax when they meet the goal of getting ranked or if being ranked weights some of the kids down.
  12. I thought your arguments were to first eliminate opinions, set some rules, use all the facts (for the kids). Second, don't modify weight classes until the kid makes the weight. Both arguments seem to be expressions of opposition. I do apologize if I still miss your position. p.s. I think every wrestler should have an XBOX...I don't think my kid has ever looked at this forum.
  13. 4. back to Walbrook with Charlie Babbitt
  14. Are you saying that the current rankings are based on the kid's personalities? I think the guys currently doing the rankings spend hours and hours digging through facts...head to head match ups, common opponent results, number of pins, techs, etc. When facts don't support how the kids need to be ranked, an opinion would seem to be a necessity. 2blLeg, you have respectfully expressed opposition to the rankings, yet you have not offered any specific suggestions for improvement. Simply saying the rankings should be based on facts alone is noble, but not the least bit suggestive or helpful. Could you offer a specific example...i.e. your ranking for a specific weight class?
  15. Good idea tnko. If we get Dave back on the board, we might also get walkenvol out of retirement.
  16. No. It's a lose - lose situation. I would support it though as soon as the boys start playing volleyball with the girls (modified shorts would need to be available for the boys though).
  17. There seems to be a common theme expressed??¦that the rankings are ??
  18. Beastin, I'd like to introduce you to Coach Hamm. I think Coach Bray's ID might be 'coachbray'. Ditto calebsdad's comments from me. Keep up the good work.
  19. 2blLeg, I appreciate your argument, but you may be taking the rankings too seriously. You mention the need for using facts, but even if all coaches submitted all results, there isn??™t a great deal of fact with which to work. When there are head to head results ranking is easy, but Tennessee is a big place, so when the top kids don??™t face one another during the season, opinions are all that is available. I??™ll bet your specific suggestions for improvement would be taken seriously by the guys that spend so much of their time producing the rankings for us. You said that a ??
  20. Harry, I think Gino modified his first post so you can't see the original location (which was Buds). If you go to the Market Street Tavern, you won't be alone. Chris, I can't make it tonight. My family's thoughts and prayers are with you. Thank you for serving!
  21. I think most of the kids have stopped using the head throw. Have you learned another move?
  22. RMC, I know some things about Baylor, Father Ryan, and Collins Hill. Could you give us a scouting report on the rest of these teams? Are there any key team or wrestler match ups?
  23. I was so happy for Josh that my focus was on Josh and Jeff after the match. Da Bears thanks for sharing Blake??™s reaction. His maturity and character are certainly commendable.
  24. Josh Patton beat Alabama State Champion Blake Herrin from Huntsville Cody Hood beat David Graham (all know how good David is...no explanation necessary)
  25. Maybe in a weight class or two, but overall?
