  1. AA Final Score - Covington 6 - Stone Memorial 2 , Stone Memorial eliminated. Covington moves on to play Knoxville Gibbs
  2. Congrats to the Trojans, you played a great game. Chargers, hold your heads up high, you had an outstanding year. About the comments made, Gude did not play because he did suffer a severely sprained ankle last week and he was not 100% and did not practice all week. The Chargers did get Hall back for this one but did not play with the same intensity as displayed last week against Crockett Co. I thought the game was officiated very well. I spoke with several Dyersburg folks after the game and they all gave praises to the Covington fans, players, and coaches. Both of these teams are class acts and will not whine or gripe when things do not go their way. My best wishes to the Trojans next week against Lipscomb. I will be there pulling for ya and wishing ya'll the best as you represent Region 7-3A. Bring the championship back to west tennessee
  3. Cheated??? Are you serious?? Well if you are gonna talk about the game being poorly officiated then you have to look at the whole picture from both sides. I was at the game and I also thought the refs missed some calls but they missed them from both sides. The touchdown that some thought was not a score, the film clearly shows the ball crossing the goal. Doesn't matter if the player crosses or not. And the onside kick at the end, the ref was hollering white ball because the covington player fell on it and was ruled down. Now about missed calls???? I guess you don't mean the obvious holding that occurred on 2 of Crockett's scores. Or one of the passes where a lineman was 15 yds downfield. Most folks don't gripe too much about officiating because it is human error. But cheated??? All you are doing by saying that is giving your team a bad name as someone who wants to cry over spilled milk. And the Crockett boys have had an outstanding year, why spoil it over griping and complaining. I just feel that Covington was more motivated and prepared. You could tell the Crockett boys were not as fired up. The game is over so quit your complaining, you are making your boys look bad.
  4. Outstanding game tonite Chargers. I think everyone in west tennessee was expecting another crockett county win. I sensed things were going to be different before the game even started. Covington seemed more focused than I have ever seen them this season during warm-ups. Also a great game plan making the changes on offense and the defensive adjustments from the first time these two teams met. My hat is off to Crockett County, you guys had an outstanding season and an outstanding team. And by far some of the most loyal supporters. I remember the support ya'll brought to Covington a few weeks ago and you definetly had the stands packed tonite. I had numerous Crockett County fans come up to me as I was leaving tonite offering congratulations on a well played game and wishing us luck the rest of the way. Tonite's game was one of the most exciting I have seen in years. A hard fought game by two outstanding teams. Good luck Chargers next week against Dyersburg.
  5. Yes Covington came out on top 14-6. Some of the worst playing conditions I have seen all year, a steady driving rain and 30+mph wind gusts and cold temps. Covington scored on their 1st 2 possessions and had a chance to score again before the half but failed to convert a 4th down inside the Choctaw 20. 2nd half saw Dyer Co. convert a Covington fumble inside their 40 into points but aside from that it was just muddy grind it out football for both teams.
  6. Everyone from east tn will rank regions 1-4 on top while those from the west will have 5-8 among the leaders. As far as overall records and winning percentages: Region 1 - 30-33 48% Region 2 - 36-27 57% Region 3 - 40-42 49% Region 4 - 35-29 55% Region 5 - 34-38 47% Region 6 - 29-34 46% Region 7 - 41-22 65% Region 8 - 21-24 47% Good luck to all teams in the playoffs and may the best team win come December 2nd
  7. The facts are that if Dyer Co. were to upset Covington then the winner of Ripley-Obiob Co would get the 4th spot if Haywood loses to Crockett Co. Posted on the TSSAA website.
  8. Well the reason there haven't been many covington fans talking on here is because they tend to do their talking on the field, which was the case tonite. I witnessed the game and it was a case of total domination by the Covington defense and superior speed by the Covington offense. I saw the stats and Covington racked up over 300 yds on offense while holding Munford to a mere 81. I think the bottom line was that the Covington team was highly motivated by the comments they have been hearing in this thread and came out tonite ready to take care of business. Good luck Chargers on the rest of your season
  9. Hmmmmmmm sounds to me like sour grapes coming from the mouth of a sore loser.
  10. Not exactly correct on the covington - jcm scrimmage. I was at the scrimmage and covington scored twice, once on defense and once on offense. Actually scored twice on offense but a quick whistle stopped a long covington run. JCM scored once or twice, can't remember exactly. .JCM has alot of size and speed and they try to throw the ball alot, lining up in shotgun and spreading the field. They have alot of athletes.
  11. Should be a well of a game. Seems both teams are starting to play their best ball lately after having some downfalls earlier. I know Milan lost to JCM and Trenton a few weeks back but bounced back and knocked off Huntington and blew out Dresden. Covington lost close games to Germantown, Haywood and Millington early in the year but has really been on fire the past few weeks, winning with ease. The game these two played last year was a classic and this year should be no exception. Should be the top game in west tn. friday night. Best of luck to both teams.
  12. I have been following both teams and the one thing I have noticed is that Covington seems to be getting better every week. I saw their game last week against Munford and they are starting to look like the Covington of past years, meaning an explosive running game and a hard nose defense. Ripley seems to pretty much rely on the McAdams boy and thats no surprise cause he is a gifted athlete on both sides of the ball. I do believe that Covington has played a much tougher schedule that has prepared them for a game like this. They lost to Germantown in the last minute and their games with Millington and Haywood went down to the wire. I do know the coaches at Covington will have their kids prepared and Ripley will have revenge on their minds remembering the 2 hard faught losses to Covington last year. Should be a heck of a game with the winner taking Region 7-3A crown.
  13. Greenbrier, You have a great team and you had a great season. Being from Covington, I just wanted to say that your team and your fans showed alot of class. The hospitality shown to the Covington team and fans attending the "snow bowl' last night was second to none. I didn't know alot about Greenbrier before last night but ya'll should be proud of the kids and coaching staff on that team. It was definetly a hard fought game from both teams. We appraciate all of your support next week and will do our best to win it all. Again congrats on an outstanding season. Best of luck next year.
  14. Yeah the score was 34-6 Covington and it wasn't really that close. I was at the game and Covington should have scored at least 2-3 more times. They lost a fumble in the end zone and had another TD called back because of a penalty. Also they ran out of time in the first half and had the ball on the 3 when time expired. Brighton couldn't stop them and they rolled up 400+ yards. Good Luck Chargers in the semi-finals against Greenbrier. Also good luck to Milan and Germantown and Melrose and Fayette Academy. Lets send 5 west tennessee teams to the finals.
  15. I think it was an outstanding football game. Your right it is a shame that someone had to lose that game. But I will say this I am tired of you ripley fans claiming your Region 7-3a champs, NO YOUR NOT! You are co-champs with covington and obion co. The only reason you people are even sharing a region title with covington is because you played a weak schedule. When it gets right down to it,do you really believe you should call yourself region champs? You went 10-2 this year and you lost both games to covington. Don't fool yourself you are not the region champs and you did not take over the top of Region 7-3a! Think about what you are saying before you say it.
