They might get beat by 50, however, they are regular season Dist Champs, Dist Tourn Champs, and Region Semi-Finalists. Not bad. Most teams would like to have accomplished what they have this season. It may end on Tuesday, but it has been a good ride. I guarantee all the teams that are out would still want to be playing. I will refer back to the wise, wise Kiwi and quote him from earlier in the thread... "eat it naysayers".

Crazy Joe- hope you didn't wager your rent money (for entertainment purposes only). Sycamore- Last 9AA team standing. Going to have to bring it up a notch on Tuesday vs Maplewood. Definitely doesn't get any easier...

White House has good overall size and length. They can play that zone defense extremely well. They are well coached and very athletic. Even though Sycamore is guard heavy, they do have an all district & all tournament post player. Back-up post play is also solid. That being said, there's just no way a 9AA team can beat any of the 10AA teams. I'm surprised they haven't just canceled the first round games. Maybe they should just institute the Mercy Rule from the opening tip so that all the 9AA teams can keep it close.

Based on earlier threads, isn't that what most involved wanted?

Congrats to the War Eagles! They took it personal when they got put out last year. Kept their focus and reached another goal tonight. Got another goal or two to reach and it begins Saturday. Good Luck to all four 9AA teams this weekend!

Need more info... guess it depends on which District may have done it. If I like the district involved then I say it's ok.

Talk about a surprise. Shorthanded Sycamore scored 33 in fourth and rallied to beat Macon 79-73. Sycamore hit 18 three's; 9 by one player. Entire district was reversal of last year. Syc tournament champ this year. Macon last year. GP 4th last year; third this year. Swapped with Westmoreland. Good luck to all four teams Friday night.

some would argue, she's not even the best player on their team let alone in the district. I wouldn't, but some have. She's going to be a very good player, maybe eventually a great player, but please... pat & geno, really? Nobody and I mean nobody in 9AA is currently getting looked at by patricia &/or geno.

Sycamore needs to play much better Tuesday or they will be in big trouble. They missed way too many open shots. Defense was not good. Gave up several open shots after losing their man on defense. Definitely will need to turn up the intensity or White House could go home with the big trophy. Good luck to all four Tuesday night and especially next weekend!

The games this weekend turned out as expected. Game of the day (boys or girls) was Westmoreland vs Sycamore. Sycamore up. Westmoreland rallies back to go up. And then... one of the best finishes (if you're not a Westmoreland fan) ever. Reigning MVP and heart & soul of Sycamore's team came up clutch in final seconds to secure the victory. Props to Westmoreland. Only team in district to beat Macon. Much improved. Quite frankly, should have beaten Sycamore Saturday evening. Would expect Macon to win championship now that Calamity is back. Good luck to all four (Macon, Goodpasture, Sycamore, Westmoreland) Monday night & especially next Friday!!!

White House looked good tonight easily defeating Sycamore. Ran that 1-3-1 all night and hit their shots. Everytime Sycamore made a run, White House answered.

Sycamore hosts White House Saturday (1/29) night. Should be a great game!

Warrior- Kiwi is correct on this one. Fact is- the refs were trying not to throw the GB coach out but he wouldn't stay seated or quiet. The district is a two horse race and GB is not one of them.

I'd say a scholarship worth $200,000-$250,000 and bachelor's and master's degree is going to work out just fine for the GB RB. Haven't you seen the commercials.... "most collegiate athletes "go pro" in something else other than sports"!

heard that Macon is looking exceptional and is fully healthy this preseason. Sycamore has at least one starter out and not much size or depth. Advantage Macon County. Macon should go 10-0 in district and probably won't be tested until region. Guess we'll find out starting on Tuesday. Safe travels.

This has been going on for years. Anyone that doesn't believe that it has does not pay attention at these tournaments. Most of the time it is just as blatant as what is shown in the video, other times it is not. It happens all over the state. One of my fondest memories is having a "coach" on the bench literally reading a newspaper during the entire game. Never looked up. The 15U or 16U team was coached, however, by their high school coach sitting in a lawn chair behind the basket. During timeouts the team ran under the basket and listened to their high school coach. Guy on the bench kept on reading the comics. I believe he was the high school coach's son. It's time for the TSSAA to enforce their rules.
