  1. Oh ok, I apologize. So orngnblk, what does Greenback look like currently? I haven't seen them since they played Coalfield and obviously things have changed drastically since then.
  2. You can't go by past meetings to figure out anything. Totally different teams and offenses since they last played.
  3. I know he doesn't have a shot, but Jacob Swint QB from Sunbright deserves a little recognition this year. Over 1100 yds passing and over 1100 yards rushing and ~30 total TDs (don't quote me on this stat.) Plus over 100 tackles on defense.
  4. It's a form of firewall by CoachT. To keep people from advertising different websites. If people could promote their websites freely, it would defeat the purpose of people advertising legitimately on the website causing the website to have to be shutdown for lack of funding.
  5. I agree, shut down this thread. It technically is against the board rules for criticizing a coach. I tried to talk some sense into them, but it is basically like arguing with a wall.
  6. Frankly, they beat who they were supposed to and lost to who they were supposed to. They did fight a very good Oneida team tooth and nail to a 6-0 loss. So I'm not sure where you see a bad coaching job. No offense to Wartburg, but like I posted earlier, they aren't a historic powerhouse, nor is many teams in the area. So, to base a decision about a coach solely on losing to superior teams, is a little far-fetched.
  7. I''m not piling on Wartburg here, and genuinely wish them well, but they don't have the horses that they have had in the past. Other than Kilby, they are just a run of the mill team. They have plenty of "role" players, but no playmakers. I wouldn't put this solely on the coach. He doesn't have much to work with. On offense he has major issues. He doesn't have the overall speed to run the spread, but at the same time, other than Kilby, he doesn't have the size at running back to run the power game. Of course, I have only seen them once and it was the Coalfield game. Not a good indication because Coalfield will make a lot of people look bad if they are on their game. I will be at the game this Friday, and knowing Sunbright's defensive struggles this year, will be interested to see how Wartburg moves the ball. However, I don't see them being able to keep up with Sunbright's explosiveness. Don't let the Oneida game fool you about the Tigers. Oneida's defense is one of the best in the area. I know this thread isn't about the game Friday, but I see it being a one-sided affair. Sunbright 49 Wartburg 16.
  8. This is going to be one of those games that is a nightmare for coaches. There are numerous problems out of a game like this. You risk an unnecessary injury by playing your starters past a few drives, but at the same time, do you risk getting out of rhythm by sitting your starters for a week? This game will be over by the end of the first quarter if the starters play, by halftime if the jv plays the whole game.
  9. You have to overlook Art, It's not everyday he gets to talk with grownups. He gets excited and says stupid things, trying to sound intelligent. Just ignore him and he might go back to the little kids' table.
  10. If I was you guys, I would be more worried about this week's game instead of bashing who the coach is or isn't. Of course I've always said that those who complain about the coach, couldn't do any better themselves, or they would offer their help to the current coach who is struggling. Looking at the records listed on here, Wartburg has had 2 winning seasons since 2001 (2001 and 2010). So to say that they were "winning" under Davis is a stretch. Yes, they were in one of the toughest regions in the state before they reclassified, but I still don't see how you can say they were better under Larry Davis. This isn't a knock on Davis, but I just want to understand your line of thinking better.
  11. Wartburg is way down this year. People are even calling for the coach's head, sadly enough. But they should give him some time. He doesn't have near as many weapons as the previous coaches did. Plus their schedule has been brutal in the top half. With that said, however, I don't see Wartburg beating anybody else this year other than Jellico. That isn't a knock on the players, I respect them for continuing to play hard when most kids would just pack it up. Coalfield will win this one by as many as they want to. Hopefully Coach Henry will show class and not let it get to out of hand, but it is a major rivalry so all bets are off.
  12. From what I have read on here in the past 4 months or so, NCS is the best Single A team in the state and there isn't any point in playing the season, But seriously, East Robertson is struggling this year but are improving. But with that said, NCS shouldn't have any problem winning this one comfortably......Well that is, if they are as good as their fans say they are.....
  13. Isn't it funny how many different Trolls we get each and every year? Usually occurs when a school that hasn't had success in the past becomes decent. Example: Nashville Christian......Sadly enough, most of the time, the said trolls have no ties to the school that they talk up. Most people, understandably, find it annoying, but I find it entertaining that someone could possibly believe half the nonsense that they type on here.
  14. Sunbright played Tri-Cities a few weeks ago and won 26-19 I believe. Fell behind them by 2 scores early but shut them out in the second half, which says something considering Sunbright is lucky to have a 13 man rotation on most nights offense and defense combined.
  15. There should never be a scenario where Wartburg loses to Oakdale. This is not a bash of Oakdale either, it just a mere logistics situation. Oakdale is lucky to have 80 boys in the whole high school and lucky to have enough to field an offense and defense in practice from year to year. Even when a "special" class comes through the school, they usually don't have the depth to compete for 4 quarters. With that said, this year is Oakdale's best chance to beat Wartburg (I know, contradictory of my previous statement.) But Wartburg is way down this year, probably as down as they have been since their 32 game losing streak from the mid 2000's. So if I was going to pick a year for Oakdale to do it, it would be this year. Wartburg doesn't have much speed to run the offense they want to run (running around the end) and they also don't have the size to run between the tackles either. Oakdale has a decent offense, but numbers, like every year, is an issue for them. I look for Wartburg to pull this one out in a close one. Maybe by the score of 28-22 or something in that range.
  16. After looking back at the scores I looked at when I posted the previous comment, I realize that the blowout games I had seen were mostly Oakdale and Jellico. So I take back what I said about football, but as far as basketball goes, they have been known to keeping starters in and jacking up threes in order to score as much as possible against inferior teams. Been on the wrong side of a couple of said situations. I know in football it is kinda hard to hold down the scoring to an extent, but in basketball it can be controlled a little easier especially without a shot clock.
  17. I agree that OS didn't run up the score against Oakdale. From the looks of the newspaper write up in the Morgan County news, it seemed to be just a perfect storm for OS in the first half. Not much you can do about that, but with that said, OS has a reputation of running up the score intentionally in basketball and football from time to time. That is obvious considering that people automatically assume that the score was ran up.
  18. So you are saying 2010 was when the cheating started? Thanks for clearing that up, lol. Sorry I couldn't resist.
  19. Does anyone know where a copy of the magazine can be picked up in East Tennessee Oak Ridge/Knoxville area?
  20. If he is talking about Benson(sp) Napier, then I'm pretty sure he plays OL. I believe he plays guard next to Zach Stewart. Coalfield has a MASSIVE line. Probably one of the best in the state sinlge A wise.
  21. http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2013/mar/19/coalfield-lineman-zach-stewart-gets-offer-tennesse/ Here's the link for the govolsxtra post about it.
  22. If I understand correctly, he is being looked at for offense.
  23. I'm not sure about being recruited but former Coach Gary Kreis (not sure if he was originally from Coalfield) played for UT and Steven Hensley walked on in mid 2000's.
  24. Congratulations to Zach Stewart of Coalfield for picking up a scholarship offer from Tennessee over the weekend.
