  1. If your out there BIGCAV gl in playoff's you have many fans in Ooltewah. Hope we can renew games and come back next year.
  2. That is pretty much all that needs to be said if topic is Freshmen. Hate to be playing em in 3 years.
  3. I find it very interesting that all season DB has been crowned the best team in the state. Fact is they went 10-0, what was the record this year of the last team to beat them in playoffs last year?? Oh, that's right 10-0, perhaps we could compare the records of the teams both have beaten? The playoff seeds of the teams they have beaten? Common opponents? Scoring Offence? Scoring Defense? Surely there is something after 10 games more concrete than the hype all year that DB is best team in state or even better than the last team that beat them? Guess we will know for sure in week 3 (Unless WB beats DB this weekend). Not quite sure how region 1 can go 1-4 against region 2 and claim their undefeated team is so far superior to Region 2's 10-0 team?? Someone care to take a stab at this with facts?
  4. I predict the DOWN 2-5a sweeps first round and I can't wait to see and Ooltewah Riverdale matchup. Difference in Down and Parity and it's one of the best top 4 teams I've seen in last 3 years from 2-5a.
  5. I'm going with a 2-5a sweep this year since 2-5a is obviously so down. That being said we look forward to totally shutting down McDermott again while Marshall runs wild. I'm glad McMinn has best back in 5a, and I'm glad ours is a JR.
  6. You must have wrong tape they can't pass they just line up in Bone with FB and hand ball to tailback.
  7. I'm gonna reply for FBE since I reached the same conclusion. Powell played Maryville, McCallie, and beat Farragut (who Ooltewah beat). RB scrimmaged Ooltewah before season and lost 35-0 and couldn't get a first down. Yes it is scrimmage but only full game we have to go by is 2 years ago the 42-7 beating RB got at the nest neither team has gotten any worse. Powell has played a much tougher schedule, and RB was very lucky to beat Rhea County, I will put my money on Rhea going the farthest in playoffs. My prediction is Region 2-5a sweeps 1-5a and 3-4a sweeps 4-4a. May be wrong but Ooltewah's 10-0 isn't same as RB going 10-0 much to the times free press's chagrin is different league and different schedule. (Oh, Powell lost to McCallie 31-6 in a whole game not 28-0 in 1 quarter jamboree too)
  8. I'm going with WB in this one actually going with a 25a sweep but I really wasn't impressed with DB last 2 years we went to the Ted and I don't see why this year should be any different. It will be a close game but it looks like a lot of 2-5a rematches to get the chance to beat Riverdale. Going with Owls all the way but would much rather meet DB in quarters than rematch with WB so go Gov's.
  9. Benny Monroe was a Wing t guy when he won his 3 straight state championships. Prolly knows how to defend it and with his team this year may even run it some in playoffs. Hard to tell what he will do don't think Owls have really shown thier hand yet this year judging from the totally different looks (from all run to all pass to balanced) they have shown all year. Think it's old ball coach stuff.

  11. I'll be sure to get a copy of that post to all of the Owl FB players before that matchup.
  12. Sterling at 50-60 more carries than anyone in state is the workhorse. Marshall is right at 1200 on about 175 carries 7-8/carry I look for him to get close to 1500 by end of regular season and possible 17-1800 including playoffs.
  13. Probably gonna give the Junior Connor Pepping and a Freshman FB a little PT this year, Not like they are playing Riverdale.
  14. Owls match up better against Riverdale because R'dale can't throw the ball a lick and nobody yet has been able to run against Owl's front 7.
  15. 4 of their better ones aren't playing they have been on the Varsity all year. Think they will do just fine.
  16. Just a what if Marshall ran wild on Farragut (180ish yards) Owls passed none. Owls shut down Sterling. Got beat deep severaltimes on shoulda been sacks. OR shut down Marshall, Got beat a little on shoulda been sacks. If OR takes out QB on blitzes they win cause they will stop sterling. Bingham is libel to run all over Farragut.
  17. biggest line and best power back DB will face imho is WB the walker kid with that huge line got more yards against Owls all year unless I'm mistaken.
  18. Yes you guys held Marshall to 108 yards on 28 carries which is well below his 7-8 yards per carry his is averaging for the season, was definately the best job stopping Marshall of any defense all year. Farragut has an elusive QB like Owls and can hurt you with his arm as well, I think that will be key in who wins this one. GL Cats.
  19. Well I would say Owls are fast enough to win, have enough receivers and a very accurate poised QB, Probably a couple of the best back anywhere (marshall at tailback and Buchannan as the huge FB) OR's coach was comparing Marshall to Gaston Miller from RD which is an accurate comparison (Miller is at Vandy this year Marshall is only a Junior still). Defensive 2ndary could use some more work but they are talented enough to win. Defensive front 7 is as good as any in the state (ask Sterling, McDermott, and the OR Tailback). Kicking game is average, but could kick more into endzone on kickoffs. All considered do Owls have a chance to win it all I would have to say on any given night yes, they have the talent (though young) and the X-Factor is they have one of the best coaches in the state (To answer the question asked earlier Ooltewah's coach has touched 3 gold balls in consecutive years).
  20. Anyone know if Owls won this game and what the score was?
  21. Ole Dad, Before you guys Crusify your coach for losing to Ooltewah, keep in mind Owl's coach is 275-53 over 34 years coaching with 3 straight 4-A Championships and a 51 game winning streak. It's not exactly like you got beat by a first year coach that knew nothing about preparing for a football game.
  22. Glad the Tribe is just peaking while the Owls are obviously on the downslide after the total domination at Blankenship last Friday of your Cat's. Saw someone mention holding OR to 3 pts until 4th quarter, Owls did just the opposite game up a quick 65 yard drive in first 3 min then held em to basically no offense rest of game. What were stat's Wildman maybe you can refresh our memories 7 First downs and 105 yards Offense (65 of which on first drive of game) vs. 300 yard for Owls almost perfectly 150-150 pass rush? hmm.. Can't wait til Owls peak.
  23. Make no mistake about it OR loses 2 close games against very good teams McMinn and WB and all the sudden Owls Totally DOMINATING them (and there is no defense for 42 yards offense for last 45 min of game). You can blame it on coaching like you guys have been since officiating was very fair. But, how bout this? Blame it on Owls Defensive front 7 dominating OR and Offense being very balanced with passing and rushing. Owls are better than last years team and all indications are DB is too. We will see which has improved the most. However 33-10 OR vs. DB was no where near as dominating of a game as the (shoulda been a shutout, but for a 3-10 busted coverage) whipping Owls put on OR on thier field. Just for good measure if there is an Owl DB matchup it will be at the Nest.
  24. Gatewood took Owls to state semi's then went 3-7 next year but nobody wanted to fire him. We are grateful he's back on Monroe's staff.
  25. Agree the WB game was closer than it needed to be 2nd time around will be very different WB is not that good. Looks like hopefully will be 2nd round opponent..
