Good advice from gtl. If you are a player, try to refrain from the "we are better" type comments. If you are a player and were there, you know how difficult it was to beat a very good Brighton team. "We were better" on Sunday in a game both teams played well and neither deserved to lose. Great accomplishment winning the district tournament, but don't diminish a hard fought championship with any trash talk.

Will play runner up from District 14AAA which includes Bartlett, Cordova, Millington, Arlington, Bolton. Craigmont and Raleigh Egypt. Good guess might be Cordova?

Great Championship game. Both teams played well and pitched great. No errors in the game--Gavin Lindsey pitched complete game 3 hit shutout and struck out 12. Brighton pitcher Jeremy White took a shutout into bottom of 7th until Evan Walls singled in winning run in bottom of 7th inning. Gavin Lindsey was named tournament MVP and Matt Haynes, Curt Fuqua, Brian Ferrell and Evan Walls were on the all tournament team. Coach Lanier English was named Coach of the Year in District 13 AAA. Congrats to Coach English and Liberty on the District Championship.

Liberty defeated Brighton 4-1 on Wednesday and then defeated Hardin County 3-1 on Thursday. Will play in championship game Saturday against Hardin County-Brighton winner. Brighton eliminated Munford with a 4-0 victory yesterday. 2 great pitched complete game wins--Matt Haynes allowed 3 hits beating Brighton and Gavin Lindsey allowed 4 hits beating Hardin County.

Is Gant suspended for 2 games? I think it is an automatic 2 game suspension for an ejection. If it's just 2 games, he should be back for Tuesday's rematch since USJ played Bolivar Saturday and JCS tonight. Since USJ is a private school, I assume it would be solely their decision on any further suspension if they do not have a set policy in place. There are some schools and school systems that automatically double that suspension to 4 games.

HC wins game 2 also. When do Brighton and Munford play? So where are we now? Brighton sweep wins district, a split and HC and Brighton tie, a Munford sweep and HC and Munford tie (with HC having tiebreaker with HTH sweep)--is this correct? When does district tournament start?

Bolivar has district games against Lexington Monday and Tuesday, USJ has district games against North Side Monday and Tuesday and Gant pitched last night vs JCS, so neither team will probbaly be using their top 2 guys. Both teams hit the ball well, should be a good game. Where and what time is the game Saturday?

Actually, I don't think they have played Haywood. A great win for Gibson County. Why would anyone want to attempt to downgrade this accomplishment by making erroneous statements that have nothing to do with the fact Gibson County pulled a huge upset. Good job by GC. Congrats to Gibson County on a big win.

Who was the umpire? How did Odle get away with kicking dirt on him and ripping pages out of the rulebook and just get confined to dugout and not kicked out of the game?

Liberty and Hardin County split a pair last night. Hardin County won the first 5-2. Well pitched game by both pitchers. Liberty had a 2-1 lead in bottom 6th, then 2 errors on ground balls a walk and a 2 out grand slam gave HC a 5-2 lead. Second game was 10-9 Liberty win. Both teams hit the ball pretty well -- Hardin County errors helped lead to 5 run Liberty 4th after HC had taken a 7-4 lead with 7 run top 4th (that was a long inning). Liberty led 9-7 after 4 and held on for 10-9 win. I'm sure both teams felt as if they should have won both games.

Championship round of Sports Plus tournament is scheduled tommorrow. Does anyone know who is playing and what the matchups are?

Lexington hit 6 home runs at Liberty including 3 over the center field fence--pretty impressive, not a lot of HR have been hit over the years at Liberty. Lexington hit the ball very well, and Liberty walked way too many hitters, and that's a bad combination. Ryan Johnson hit 3 Home runs and Billy Keck and I think HeHe hit HR and one other guy, sorry didn't know who he was. Hopefully a good learning experience for a young Liberty team against a very good Lexington team.

L:iberty lost 5 seniors last year and is pretty young. Will probably field a solid team, but will have difficulty hanging with a much more experienced Lexington team, especially this early in the year. If some of the young guys start to step up, Liberty should field a competitive team. Returning starters are Senior Gavin Lindsey and Juniors Matt Haynes, Brian Ferrell and Curt Fuqua. Lots of opportunity for others to step up.

Should make for a great district race. That makes season exciting. Last year Liberty fininshed in a 4 way tie for regular season district championship. It's fun when every district game is a big one and things come right down to the wire.
