This game will be one that will give a couple teams a feel of how good they may be this year. Austin East - If Austin East wins this game then IMO it will prove they one of the teams to beat in 3A even after so many picked them to have an drop off. Knoxville Catholic - I don't think they have to win this game to prove how good they are because if they play AE real close then they will prove themselves to be competitors in the region. If they get blown out then it may just prove that they haven't played anyone yet. Fulton - If Knoxville Catholic gets blown out by AE then Fulton should feel better knowing that AE is a pretty good team. However if Knoxville Catholic beats AE pretty good then Fulton better worry. Smith County - If Knoxville Catholic gets destroyed then I think Smith County better worry because they got manhandled by Catholic.

They beat a very good 3A Livingston Academy team 14-12. After playing teams like Livingston, Smith County and Portland the last couple years in 3A the Jackets shouldn't have any problems with the teams in 1A. The prediction for Friday Night isn't a good one for Watertown.

Westmoreland will be eager to avenge that upsetting loss to Macon County. Upperman is going to have a tough time IMO.

Well they didn't lose this one so I want to know who your were thinking the other 3 predicted losses are going to be? Let me guess. Smith County, Gordonsville and Friendship Christian. There is a reason TC is ranked #1 in 1A by most papers and experts. They just beat one of the better teams in 3A so it probably isn't to likely that they will have to seriously worry about Gordonsville...... They were talking on the radio the other night and said that if TC wins against Smith County and Livingston that they would probably go into the playoffs undefeated.

I don't understand whats the problem with a weather delay. If Livingston is as good as all you guys talk them up to be then they should win whether its rain, shine, snow, hurricane or whatever. Right? Or do you guys need weather on your side to hand a loss to the Jackets.

Well the score was 14-12 Trousdale County so I guess no excuses from the Satterfield crybabies right?

Well I have to give my congrats to Macon County as they proved me wrong. I bet there are some boys in Westmoreland that are pretty upset because many felt this was a game they were gonna take hands down.

This is nothing but a bye week for Smith County IMO. Unless Jackson County has about 22 transfers starting that weren't on the team last year this game is already over.

Im a Trousdale Co. graduate and I wasn't really impressed with the way they played Macon friday night. They are gonna have to play better than that to beat teams like Livingston Academy. Its ashame Macon county was overlooking the Jackets to get to Westmoreland because now they are gonna get 2 whippings in a row.

Westmoreland looks really good this year I say they win by at least 2 tds on a bad day.

You haven't looked at the schedule have you? Trousdale County - A playoff team every year and can win any game. Beat Macon County 31-6 last night. Kingston - This is a game that LA should win. Station Camp - Has a decent ball team that is capable of beating LA. Knoxville Catholic - A very fast football team that thumped Smith County 45-12 last night. York Institute - Looks like a down year but always puts up a fight. Austin East - May have a new coach but they are still Austin East and need to be dealt with. Scott - A decent team that could beat LA. They beat York 46-20 last night. Anderson - Not in the class of AE or Fulton but a decent team nonetheless. Smith County - Always a tough game between these two. Even though Smith County looks to be down they can still win this game. Fulton - The defending champs of 3A and will be a tough game for LA.

Well the Jackets win 31-6 but I wasn't impressed as an alum. I think they looked sloppy at times and will need to improve quick if they want to beat Livingston next week and have a shot at state like they are talking about.

Well what happened during the game? Someone give a recap please.

I would say 2-8 or 3-7 is realistic. That may not be optimistic but Dekalb was pretty bad last year.

Anybody have any input about this game? How did the teams score and what seemed to be the deciding factors?

I left at halftime and wasn't really impressed either way. As a Jacket alum I figured they would've played better than what they did. It seemed kinda sloppy IMO but it is the first game of the season so maybe it was just jitters.

LA is going to have a real tough time. Fulton, AE, Kingston and Anderson all have solid football programs. That is gonna be like our region was where your gonna have a good team sitting at home come playoff time. York and Westmoreland are gonna be Smith County's only competition IMO.

Well I was looking at the new regions and it looks like both Trousdale and Smith County are sitting pretty for next year. Region 4 Class 1A Trousdale County Watertown Red Boiling Springs Clay County Monterey Gordonsville Mount Juliet Christian Region 4 Class 2A Smith County York Institute Westmoreland Cannon County Jackson County Upperman And look at this region. Wow. Region 2 Class 3A Livingston Academy Austin East Knoxville-Fulton Knoxville-Catholic Kingston Scott County Anderson County

All I was saying was that you cannot run the ball on the Owls. Livingston just kept running the ball for hardly any yards. You would figure after two games that they realized they wouldn't be able to run the ball. It took Portland 7 quarters to realize that you can't run the ball and they ended up with like 100 yards passing in the 4th quarter but by then it was too late. Fulton came out and realized after the 1st quarter that they couldn't run the ball and just started airing it out and ended up with 274 yards passing.

Finally. I have been saying all year that teams shouldn't even bother trying to run the ball on Smith County. In the Trousdale game the Jackets converted several big third downs by going to the air. Portland had 126 yards passing in their last game and about 100 of that was in the 4th quarter when they finally realized to throw the ball. Fulton had some big plays in the passing game. Does anyone know where I can find a box score online? Did Smith County go to a different kicker? I wasn't at the game. I know that they have been awful on xpat's this year. I heard a guy on the sideline say that they were around 50% on xpats this year.

Well I just want to see a good game. I have seen Fulton play the last two years and I was kinda hoping to see Austin East this year but oh well I guess. I have seen where people are talking about how Macon was destroyed last year going up against that team. Im trying to find a nice way to say this... Macon County is not our region's finest. They had a fluke year with like 1/2 the team being Seniors. Now Smith, Trousdale and Portland are really the pride of our Region and the only reason I left Livingston off that list is that they just never win the big games.

Congrats Owls you guys played a great game the other night winning in dominant fashion against a pretty good Livingston team. I have missed alot of conversation the last couple days because my computer's been down. I called the game before kickoff. Almost. I told my best friend that Smith would win 13-7. My reason being that Livingston had 32 fumbles during the year and 18 were recovered by the other team. That along with the fact that Smith County has a good defense and a wet field led me to believe that Livingston would put the ball on the ground and they did what? 3 times? I thought I was gonna get the score and everything perfect until that last touchdown made it 20-6.

I drew quite a bit of flack on here after the regular season meeting when I said the first game was ugly and that somebody had to win. Well I meant what I said then and I mean it now. However Friday nights game was one of the best high school football games I have ever seen. Smith County played tough and deserved every bit of that win. Portland they may go home with a loss but they have nothing to be ashamed about as they played their hearts out. Thats what you want to see as a fan is guys laying it all out on the line for the entire game.

Thats what I was wondering. How do they determine who gets to play at home for round 4? Is it by seeding, record or what? I know this much. Regardless of who wins between LA/Smith or Fulton/AE we are gonna have a freak awesome matchup. I have went to almost all of Smith County's games and I feel that you have a much better chance against them if you pass the ball. Trousdale gave them a good dose of passing and came away with a win. Portland starting throwing late in the game and put themselves in the position to have a chance at winning the game.
