  1. I think that AC truly is the most talented team in their district. They were last year also. Take nothing away from Loudon (the eventual district champs), but the most talent is at AC. They have greatly underachieved, but have plenty of time to turn things back in their favor from last year to this year...as does Catholic, Stone and Loudon. It should be a great run to the finish line. As for the region...Fulton is very well coached and plays to potential in my opinion. AE and Carter have outstanding talent but their coaching is fair at best. Good luck to all.
  2. The brilliant minds have come up with all these wonderful rules that have no way of being policed. Congratulations on yet another great idea TSSAA. I guess if it sounds good it makes it good, no matter how much it can't be enforced.
  3. Scott, what was the score of your second CAK game??? Does anyone know?
  4. Oh alright, you are correct. Ya hear that AC, Catholic, Loudon, ad the rest of the district: You need not show up for the Region tournament...you have no chance. Gee, I wonder if Loudon thought the same thing last year against a pretty strong Fulton team. Oh, wait, they just got lucky right? I tell you what...we will be out there, and you will see teams from our district that will surprise you. Hope to see you there with your team whoever that may be, and I hope they do not quit just because they see a Fulton or AE uniform. I guarantee the kids I know will not. Like I said, that's why they tip it off and play. Best of luck at the district tournament.
  5. I believe I read the same sort of comments as we began tounament time last year. That, my friend, is why they play the game.
  6. What is interesting to me is that some of have no clue what happened and you are making comment. I will tell you all this...the student section has been spoken to by administration and ground-rules have been set...Loudon does not play dirty, they have great kids that would not dream of causing a kid to break his arm. I wish nothing but the best for the young man who got injured. #30 for Loudon was immediately removed from the game and not re-inserted. He was also immediately sorry for the outcome and wanted to apologize but could not because there was no hand shake at the end. I know that is no consolation for the injured young man, but I will say again...the kid was not "intentionally injured" as was stated. It was a bad foul that resulted in a kid being hurt badly. That's it. There was NO intent to harm. Please be careful, everyone, in making these very general, blanket statements about these kids.
  7. Big game in district play between Stone and Loudon tonight. I'l be interested to see how Loudon plays after an emotional win on Fri. against AC, and against a team that embarassed them last time. If Loudon wants any chance at a reg. season district crown, they must win tonight. Stone could make a major statement on the road tonight, though. We'll see which Loudon team shows up. They have won pretty big the last four games.
  8. Thanks guys, for the update on the CAK game...as far as the Sunbright game, I would certainly hope that coach did not say that. No disrespect to Sunbright...however, this should not be a game after the 1st quarter.
  9. What was the score in the CAK game, and how did it go? Did anyone from CAK do well against Scott?
  10. Stone has been beaten by 2 against AC, and 5 or 6 against Catholic in district play. However, they blasted Loudon at Stone earlier in Dec. I will say that it by far was Loudon's most lethargic game. They looked like they were half dead, which is very uncharacteristic of them. The score was a little lopsided late because of fouls and made free throws, but Stone got the W, and they will be a tough out in district play.
  11. Let's don't leave Stone Memorial out of the equation. They could be a tough team dow the stretch.
  12. I know the tounge is firmly implanted in your cheek, FLMS...or should I call you Coach Holtz. You are quite the diplomat. Total class though.
  13. You are 100% correct!!! I grow so tired of seeing at least one in every crew that wants to be the "enforcer". What a joke some of these guys have made themselves. I counter by also saying that there still a few of those men in stripes that know their role is to call the GAME... not the stands, bench, cheerleaders, etc....and they do a good job. The others have completely lost what their true role in the game is. Heck no, the last thing we need is to give them one more judgement call to make. Pretty soon they'll be calling technicals because they "knew what we were thinking."
  14. It seems as though the officials have their mind on everything else but what is transpiring on the court. When did the officials start becoming so concerned with what's going on everywhere else in the arena except the court? It is really becoming ridiculous with some of these guys. I'm not defending Pearl, but for the past few years these guys seem like their looking in the stands and on the bench more than at the players on the floor.
  15. Nice post...real classy of you.
  16. Catholic has done nothing but beat teams this year. No, they aren't pretty...but they are effective. They play lights out defense, they have two legit stars, and about five others that know exactly their roles on the team. One of them knows how to break my heart with a banked three at the buzzer. Yes, that may have been luck, but they are prepared for comebacks and late-game heroics. They don't get flustered...believe me, we saw it first-hand four different times. We would have given anything to beat those guys, but we did not. They beat us, and they are respected by this coach. We'll see Catholic again next season...but until then, I hope they win a State Championship. They probably will not, but I'd NEVER...EVER count them out!
  17. Interesting that you say they have Fulton after Seymour...Doesn't Fulton play anyone in round 1?
  18. Congrats to Catholic and Coach Hutch. You all will be a tough team to beat!
  19. Wright is not in the same league as Penny Hardaway talent-wise. In fact, I don't even think that comparison is remotely close. Wright is great, but no comparison with Penny.
  20. Just another example of the officials of today, that are more concerned with what is going on in the stands, than on the floor. I have never seen so many instances of officials paying so much attn. to fans, coaches and even doggone cheerleaders! The TSSAA needs to get these guys more focused on the game and let the game administrators deal with the crowd. The officials have begun to get really out of control with their actions on the court.
  21. I hope Scott has that much "fire" in all the rest of their district games. It'll sure make it easier on the rest of us.
  22. Forgive me for my ignorance, but where is this tourney played? I'd like to check out tonight's game.
  23. Loudon got 'em, but on Tuesday Catholic rolls into Loudon. Although it's extremely early, this will be a preview of what might be the eventual district champ. No disrespest to the others though. This district is really good and wide open. Anyone has a shot. You better come to play every night.
  24. Guess the old saying, "act like you've been there," is out of the question. Celebrate with your teammates...this is not the NBA. As a coach, if he were mine, that would have been the last time he did that. However, I hate to comment on something I did not see. If he did in fact do that, he should have been ejected. If he played for me, an ejection would not have been needed.
