I am sorry, but I did not have time to read through all of the other posts. My vote would go to Mike Weldon out at Karns. The guy has really done something amazing in the past few years at both Farragut and Karns. He took that team to the Duals in his second year there and has done an outstanding job.

I think that Vaughn majoring Mayo is asking for a lot. Mayo hasnt been wrestling as well lately, but i think that one will go to Mayo. Simmons would be an upset, the Ryan hwt is very tough and I believe that one will go to Ryan as well. My thinking is that Baylor might bump Manson up to 130, where we will see a heck of a match. You can predict all you want on a Manson vs. Oddo matchup but that is one that we will have to see. I think that this match will be a lot tighter than everyone will predict.

If you want to talk about Jordan Leen, that is fine. If you want to talk about Patrick Simpson, that is fine. Dunning, Cleveland, Bundy, and Marable would plot to take out Meredith first. After he was out of the way, the little guys would take Marable out. From there its on.

How bout this? The TSSAA is not a public program that is in anyway serving the best interests of wrestling through tax dollars etc. If the wrestling community wants to why not withdraw from a TSSAA sponsored state tourney and get somebody with a lot of money to start up a new organization that sponsors a single state tourney. If successful, the TSSAA will crumble due to the new competition. Im sure that the TSSAA is still hurting a little from the BA ordeal from a few years ago. Lets take the TSSAA down, Who's with me?

Dunning vs Bundy. Leen vs Lane. Here's the difference. Lane was a lot more technical than Bundy is. I realize that Lane was not very technical but was slicker than Bundy. Here is where Bundy will run into trouble on Whitt. Wrestling 4life says that Bundy is a good scrambler. He is. But he will not get away with it against a guy like Dunning. Bundy will start flopping around and will end up on his back. Take it from there...Dunning with a three point lead.

Yes it does teach mental toughness. But you are ignorant in your ways my friend. A little knowledge in sport psychology can take a wrestler a long way. A lot of wrestlers/competitors need to know how relax, mentally prepare, etc. Sports psychology is not going to make a decent wrestler a state champion. But, it can give consistency to any competitor.

Gripper says it best. I don't see any problem with the high school wrestlers posting on this forum or reading it. The problem I see is when the talk it up about themselves or other wrestlers. Some of these guys might say something about their programs that the coach doesn't want made public. Also, some of these kids are staying up late looking at these posts when as wrestlers they should be in bed resting for practice/competition.

This is really sad to hear. I do not know him, but I knew his older brother and they are a very nice family. I hate to see this happen to anyone.

I like Manson a lot. He is a quality young man and a top notch wrestler. However, how can you continue to believe that he can hang with Dunning? Dunning shut him out in last years state final and has already proven this year that he has greatly improved. Right now I think Whit could spot him 10 points and still beat him.

How bout these odds 99.9 to .1. This year Bundy will not beat Whit. Bundy's best shot at getting to Whit would have been last year. Let me explain. Since last year I have witnessed Dunning turning the corner. He is physically stronger than Nic, more technical, and far slicker. Nic Bundy is a good wrestler, but not in Whit's league. I think if Whitt is at 119 he will win the NHSCA tourney with ease. It is my belief that he is that good and that much better than any of the other 119 and 125 pounders in the state.

I have been noticing that there are a more high school wrestlers posting on this forum as of lately. Is this not weird to anyone? Maybe I need to loosen up.

Who there? If they do it like this it creates a big problem. Thieves. If you seperate the athletes from their bags positive contact is lost. I hate to say it but there are just too many stories of wrestlers having their singlets bags and headgears disappear. Sorry but you wouldnt get me to put my bag in a pile where another guy can pretend to get something out of his bag and steal me stuff.

I dont know if this is the proper venue to be discussing this issue. Ill admit that Coach G. is a little bit of a weirdo, i.e thanking his wrestlers on this forum, wishing them a happy holidays on this forum. However, do we really need to get involved in this on this board. Is the Smyrna program even sinking? They are still a mediocre program as they have been in the past.

Ill admit that every now and then Nick Simmons got away with his fair share of choke holds. He choked out the guy from California in the JR Nat'l finals. However, the NCAA refs have adjusted to what he is doing. They are all over the guy when he does his front headlocks. Another thing that must be taken into account is the fact that this is NCAA wrestling. You can get away with torquing the chin and coming across the throat on crossfaces. Its a rough sport and I, for one, hope that it stays that way.

Hamm, Ive seen him do it off of shoulder shucks where he ends up hip to hip with the guy. He gets into the position really easy b/c he is so long.

I am with you on this coach. It is much easier to place in the DII competition. You only have to win two matches in most of the weight classes to medal. However, once in the finals, I think that it evens out. DII has about three solid wrestlers per weight class. DI probably about 5 or 6. Old Ram, You must have lost your mind on that DI vs DII matchup. Id love to hear your reasoning.

That doesnt answer the question. That just tells what they were doing instead. Are they beat up? Pride a little down after the butt whoopin that Army put on em. Id like to know why they opted for practice over such a great tournament like this.

Simmons locks up an inside leg(similar to the leg work on a merkle). Then reaches across and snakes his arm through the opposite leg. From there he splits the guy in half until he goes over. You can see him hit this on one of the NCAA highlight tapes. Not sure wich one.

Baylor sounds as if they have a team that can do really well at McCallie. Id say Baylor will definitely be in the top three at McCallie.
