  1. Just look at the proposal on the front page of this topic. It explains the 6 class option in detail and is an excellent idea.
  2. They were probably from south central association, which is one of the worst ran associations in the state. They always have controversial calls/decisions and have attitudes about it. The coaches always have public repercussions to ejections $250 fine and 2 game suspension. It is in the papers and on CoachT. The referees punishment is always in house, so the public never knows, i.e. your not calling games this week, hence their 2 game suspension! No one knows but them and the supervisor. TSSAA and the supervisors of officials are gutless on this because they won't even discuss a way to evaluate officials with the coaches. Also, this goes back to the coaches for not pushing this issue, they will get on her and complain about this call or that one but aren't a part of the solution. Coaches are evaluated during each game they are school employees. To me an official is an employee of those schools he/she is refereeing for, therefore they should be evaluated by the coaches, ad's, and administrators of those schools. Those evaluations should be tied into their ability to call tournament games, the better the evaluations the bigger the games they get to officiate. It is a simple yet profound problem I guess.
  3. It is absolutely the worst setup in the nation. Whenever you can LOSE 3 times and still 'win' the state championship, it is a terrible format. The other thing is having to beat a team 3-5 times in a season is ridiculous also. Someone mentioned Jackson County and Clay County 2 years ago, the last game should have never happened, they LOSE 4 of 5 but are rewarded with the 'state championship' for winning the last game, Unbelievable. I wish we had some basketball coaches that actually cared about the game and would push for the same classifications as football, that would level the playing field for many schools at the low end of each class to have success. But truthfully, every sport should have the same number of classification and championships.
  4. That is true, Cascade didn't have their post, she missed several games in December, but Moore County has been without their big post, Savannah Williams since early in the year. So call it even.
  5. Cascade is AA now. Forrest has a good team, can't match up with Houston. Community on paper has the best talent and can match up to them. Moore County is down, losing all five starters off that team from last year, but don't get too excited, they are starting 4 and sometimes 5 that are only 8th grade! Currently they are 9-5 and 3-2 in district 9-A.
  6. He Is a good player, especially in the UC area. But there are 50-75 just like him in the Memphis area alone.
  7. Does anyone have the schedule? Haven'seen it posted.
  8. Actually, every high school coach in the state received info on the all-star game and the unsigned games as they have each of the 6 years the Basketball Coaches Association has been doing this. Emails were sent to all members of BCAT also, which is over 500 members. Also, they send this out to every media outlet in the state, they choose either to publish it or not. Every college and university in Tennessee along with schools in surrounding states get info on both events. As for the all star game, rosters are sometimes not set until late friday night before the game because players are still in the state tournament. Alot of the players who are invited also don't get the invite from the school or coach after receiving it, thus creating problems. The unsigned games are never set until the morning of the games because some players sign up and never show to play. For example, this year almost 50 signed up and about 10 didn't show. It is billed as 'unsigned games' not showcase, because they play games. This year they expanded to a 2 hour format, in the past it has been an hour. These games have provided opportunities for several players through the years to play on the next level. All in all it is a good event and it will expand next year and be bigger and better.
  9. I was at the games/workout because I had a player playing. It was done well. There were about 44-45 kids there to play. Teams were pretty even. They played for 2 hours. It was free for the kids and the HS coaches, I was told, volunteered their time. Also I counted at least 16 schools represented that came as college recruiters who were also not charged a fee to come all and all a good event by BCAT!!!!
  10. Who are the great players that Perry County has produced? Also, what are some of the great teams and coaches there? I have heard alot about their tradition and think this would be interesting.

  14. This has perenially been the top event for coaches in the state, and one of the top events of its kind in the nation, unfortunately we have many coaches that will miss this because they aren't dedicated to the sport like the coaches of other sports(football). Coaches of all levels, this is in your backyard get out to it.

  16. Just wondering how this team would stack up against some of the great teams, players and coaches from the past to come out of Perry County. Seems as though they are in good company with a great win to get there vs Clarksville Academy.
  17. It may be one of these guys, but I know that the first person contacted is not on this list. One of the previous posters hit it about the wellness position being cut that is why they aren't on the list. Buck and Greene ought to crawl to Oak Ridge if offered, Rudesill won't leave West Tennessee has a dynasty in place, Placeras would be a little scared of him and experience, Shipley has been there was at Fairview High this past year, don't know Wes Jones could someone enlighten me on him.
  18. You can register at the door starting at about 4:30 on Friday the 25th.
