  1. Not going to rag on Coach Clark because I thought he did well overall, but if you're going to brag about his balls on some of those plays that worked, you've also got to admit that one or two of those "ballsy" calls cost us. Like the post pattern on 3rd and a foot on our second series for example. I guess you could blame that on East because it was open and he overthrew it by 5 yards, but we had to punt it right back and SC scored again to go up 14-0. We were fortunate to turn the momentum after that. Anyway, it was a great offensive show on both sides, and I'm glad SC decided to pass on that last series as we hadn't stopped the run at all the previous couple of possessions. Oh and I'm also thankful for the blatant clip on the pick-6--I don't think our guy was going to get there, and the clip saved us a TD.
  2. Yep I found it on Charter, even in HD apparently. Cool.
  3. Televised where? Is it available online?
  4. Yes on both counts. But for his own bad decisions he'd likely be getting paid to play. Certainly looked more like an NFL player in HS than our other recent NFL players.
  5. Got out a few weeks/months ago. Not sure ETSU would do that though.
  6. Am I reading this right? You're claiming Boone is 10-3 all time against DB? If so you're nuts.
  7. Except for Science Hill? Were any of the current players on either team even alive the last time Science Hill beat DB? Heck Daniel Boone has beaten DB a lot more recently than Science Hill. Science Hill and whoever else better get their licks in the next year or two and enjoy it, because DB isn't down very often.
  8. Saw a post on a Vol forum saying that Foreman had been offered by Kentucky and had interest from Va. Tech; that Swafford had interest from UK; and that Penn State was interested in Gilliam. Anyone know what the recruiting situation looks like for these guys?
  9. 34-0 with :42 left in the 1st. I think DB has run like 6 offensive plays. Generally speaking I would favor leaving Foreman in until end of the 3rd or something at least to become more comfortable at QB, but he's not learning anything much from this, and if Clark does that the score will be 125-?. And that wouldn't be good for anyone.
  10. Hahahaha. That's some funny stuff. Because football championships always follow a defined statistical pattern of frequency regardless of real world factors, right? I mean, it wouldn't make any sense at all to think that DB was better the first 45 years (when there were far fewer teams, and few if any black athletes competing at the same level, etc.) than the last 42 years. Did you hone those analytical skills at South or Colonial Heights Elementary?
  11. 34-7 DB at the half. DB's D is playing well (pressuring the QB and forcing some turnovers), and they're getting big plays on O when they need them.
  12. If you looked at last night alone, you could write it off to the weather (completely dry first half and having to come out in the rain for the second half), but based on past history I don't think it had much to do with it. Maybe it's time CGC started doing "the opposite" of whatever he's been doing as far as his halftime talk or plans for the second half. Or maybe he could just make them stay on the field and jog in place. The secondary thing seems like more like 10 or 12 years than 6, but that's probably just because it bugs me so much. I recognize that DB is (IMO) the toughest position to play on a FB field, but we seem to somehow exhibit the worst of both worlds by often playing too far off the ball to stop the short stuff and then getting beat deep at will too. Not sure how we manage that, but there have been way, way too many games the last few years where we had receivers running around completely alone in the secondary. Fortunately most of them didn't have a QB that could get them the ball consistently, but I agree we're going to get carved up soon if that continues. As far as SC helping us, it's a double-edged sword IMO. The experience of playing a really good team in the regular season should help us in theory, but I HATE playing a really good team that we're likely to see again in the playoffs. I'd rather play a team from out of state or something. How many times have we beaten a good team in the regular season only to lose the rematch when it really mattered? Oak Ridge really seemed to be in our heads in the playoffs, no matter what we did with them in the regular season. I think we're suffering to some extent from the Fulmer/Florida syndrome from the 90's--everyone around the program, including coaches and fans, gets tight in the playoffs fearing another choke of some sort and it affects the players too, even the ones who weren't around when the choking began. It appears SH will be a very tough game this year too, but if we can get the O to play four quarters hard, that will help limit the weaknesses we have on D.
  13. Hahaha. I was waiting on someone to mention that--I wondered the same thing.
  14. The half-hearted fans won't affect how far we go this year nearly as much as the half-hearted play in the second half. Again. Very happy with the win and the Indians had an awesome first half, but they need to get that problem fixed.
  15. So neither Tennessee nor any other 1A college football team has any national championships either I guess? Brilliant reasoning. *yawn*
  16. Both the TD takeaway and the KO return TD were Foreman, not Swafford. Foreman is actually the faster of the two, and one of the fastest track guys in E. TN, but they're both darn good FB players.
  17. Serious question: has South ever given up 49 points in a half before? I'm guessing the answer is no.
  18. The score in these types of games is usually a function of how long the winning team leaves its starters in. This game would have been at least 56-0 at the half if DB hadn't played the third string after the sixth TD. But it's not Clark's style to humiliate anyone, nor should it be. (Not saying you guys were doing that in '05 BTW; it may be you were deep enough and they were bad enough that year that your 3rd & 4th string scored a lot of those points).
  19. Yeah the first half was about as ugly as it could get for Clinton. DB scored 3 TD's in the first 5 minutes of the game on its first two offensive plays and a punt return, and it didn't get much better from there. The speed differential at the skill positions looks to be tremendous, Clinton's line is getting overwhelmed by DB on both sides of the ball, and Clinton just doesn't have any answers so far. God bless the Clinton fans who drove all the way up here and are still watching this one.
  20. Speaking of throwing, what's the deal with Cook, anyway? From what I saw of him last year I was looking forward to seeing him sling it around this year, but it sounded like he couldn't throw it in the ocean last night. I listened to the Farragut radio broadcast and they mentioned his accuracy problems a couple of times. Said one time he had Forman all alone and threw it 5 yards behind him. Hopefully just first game as a starter jitters.
