  1. Glad to see the whole Fairview team at the game tonite between Camden/Creekwood. Takes alot of class to show up in uniform to support their district after the way things turned out. Good luck to the Lady Jackets next season.
  2. Heather Capps, Amanda Brandenburg, Morgan Fowler and CaSarah Gilliam from Camden should make all-district.
  3. I wouldn't bet on that...there are a couple teams out west that might be able to give it the old college try. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  4. Good teams take advantage of big mistakes and that's what Lexington did to Camden. Looks like it should be an interesting district tourney.
  5. Milan and Westview aren't in our region...we are region 6 with middle TN. Still working out the bugs (errors) and shifting players, pitchers and catchers around. Camden actually has a very good problem...alot of talent to spread all over the field. Just gotta figure out the best combinations and non-district/region games will be when that happens.
  6. Seems intheshadow doesn't know much about those two teams either. Take a look at Camden's schedule...I believe you will notice that St. Benedict is coming to Camden on the 21st to take on the Lady Lions at St. Benedict's request! I'm sure St. Benedict looked at their schedule and said "hmmm....let's see who we can drive 3 1/2 hours to spank?" Ummm...maybe not. Pretty sure they were looking for the same thing Camden is...good competition. Also, didn't Bolton play in the same MTSCA tourney that Camden took 2nd place to Riverdale in the Gold bracket? In the Brentwood tourney, Camden was in arguably one of the more challenging pools. Intheshadow might want to do a little more fact finding before belittling programs who have NEVER shied away from the best competition. Hate to burst your bubble, but Camden is not in one West TN tourney this year. To beat the best you gotta play the best...and the Lady Lions, along with a few other west TN teams, do that year after year.
  7. Even though they had to work through some 1st tourney of the season jitters, Camden looked strong this weekend in the MTSCA tourney. Went undefeated until the championship when they lost to Riverdale 3-0. Led by seniors Brittany Dillion, Noelle Henry, Alex Hastings, Lesley Medlin, Cumberland signee CaSarah Gilliam, and UT signee Morgan Fowler, the Lady Lions look to have another strong season with many more strong seasons to follow.
  8. .Riverdale and Camden in the championship with Riverdale winning 3-0.
  9. Riverdale put Dekalb out in the semis. Camden put out Sycamore in the semis. Camden and Riverdale about to play the championship game.
  10. Congrats to the ladies from Hume-Fogg....hope you take home the Gold Ball. To the Lady Lions....great season! With the return of nearly the whole team, next season should be another fun one. Thanks for giving the basketball fans something to cheer about....we are proud of you all! Go Lions!
  11. Thanks GC...cinderella team is right, although Camden definitely has some gamers. Good luck ladies! BTW anyone know where Hume-Fogg plays at? Is it the West End Jr High still?
  12. Camden scrimmages Decatur Co Riverside tonite and has a round robin playday at Camden on March 7th.
  13. Should be a very interesting year for Camden. The Lady Lions lost only 1 player and she was a defense-only player. They also brought on a talented group of freshmen that could make a big impact this season. This group (juniors, sophs and freshmen) had a combined win/loss record of 89-3 throughout their Jr High careers and 4 travel state championships between the lot of 'em. Could be alot of success coming up for the ladies from Camden for the next several years.
  14. Actually I agree with you Tadvols at least in relation to the Shelby County School System. Its one of the poorest, most overcrowded, under-served school systems in America based on population. Violence is high, pay is low considering the many disadvantages to start with and they struggle to meet state testing and graduation requirements year in year out. Hard to draw great coaches in under those circumstances. Football is a game of discipline, routine and regular focused practiced. It's very regimented and requires a year long commitment that would be hard for inner city schools to find the time, space, money or willingness of the kids to do. Why do you think the inner city schools in the west excel at basketball? East Tn approaches basketball like football...with the same regimentation and routine that they do football. These West Tn schools approach it like it really is in these areas.....street ball. These kids start playing as soon as they can walk, on every street corner. No money, discipline or regimented practice required. Just balls-to-the-wall flat out pure athleticism on every court in Shelby county. Why do you think East TN can't compete? It's not their style of play...period. Same thing goes for football...the west can't compete for the same reason. I think we can all say when it comes to pure God-given athletic ability the West has it in spades compared to the East. It's the difference in the way it's developed that makes the East good in football and the West good in basketball.
  15. Convenient you mean "Oh wonderous smartest person alive" /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" ...yeah right
  16. Every year the rumors start about this time and every year we are just glad we get to keep him for one more season. He has certainly made a complete 180 of the football culture in Benton Co. From the players to the community, Coach Ward garners alot of respect round these parts.
  17. Kevin Ward is his name and yes he was an assistant at Milan and Westview before coming to Camden as head coach and completely turning that program around. We agree...he is impressive /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  18. Good luck to our brothers from Milan...hope to see you guys in the 'Boro /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  19. Camden's OC will have to learn to adjust. I'm never critical of Camden's coaches but I have to say that unless we learn to adapt on the fly we will struggle more often than necessary considering the athletes Camden has at their disposal. With that said, I wouldn't judge Camden by the Fairview game...Fairview game planned very well and Camden, from the coaches on down to the players, just seemed to lay down almost like they were ready for it to be over. The team at the end of the season was definitely not the team I watched for the first 6 games or so against teams like Trenton, Milan, Martin-Westview and Huntingdon.
  20. Camden has played the best competition available to them in the regular season...Milan, Trenton-Peabody, Huntingdon, 4A Jackson Northside, Martin-Westview and have STILL been successful. How many of the other teams in this region can say that? Can they say they've been to the playoffs every year since 2003, made 2 quarterfinal appearances (losing to the likes of state-runners up Goodpasture and Huntingdon both of those years) lost in the 2nd rounds (With a near upset last year) to the likes of state runner up Goodpasture and CPA the past three years and bowing out in the first round very uncharacteristically this year to Fairview. Who in this region would like to compare resumes? Nobody...that's what I thought. As someone else said...who wouldn't like those results? Ask your coaches, I'm sure they would agree. But if you want to continue to delude yourselves, who am I to interfere?
  21. The Giant graduated last year. Its great to be a giant when you have a field of somewhat comparable size. But when you're that tall and the guy across from you is 5'6" all he has to do is take out your knees and BAM you're done. That's what happened to the Giant sad to say. No Giants to speak of next season, a couple 300 pounders though. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Good luck to you guys this week.
  22. Agreed...the line play will be a glaring weakness unless someone steps up. We actually have some BIG boys on the bench...just don't know if they have the big drive and heart Ward requires for them to be able to step onto the field. I guess time will tell. This new district actually helps us all the way around. A better more competitive football district, a weaker (although still very competitive) basketball district than the behemoth district that we've been in, a much more competitive district for softball with some already heated rivalries going (Creekwood, Waverly) and of course baseball, although I'm not sure it matters where we are for baseball, and I hate that. Keep our West TN "friends" for non-region games and I'm a happy camper. I don't know about everyone else but I like it.
  23. Tigers Butchie? /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> I'm wounded. As far as Greenfield, I'm not sure what Coach Ward has in mind but I know he's hoping to keep Milan and Westview and now with H'Town and McKtown back on the schedule...all is right in LION country. No pading the schedule for us...I think Ward would rather get knocked down than to ever steam roll anyone. Week 1 you say? Might as well get going with a big'un! See you then.
  24. Are you kidding me? Waverly fans make more excuses than any other team's fans on this board. There are a few good Waverly posters I consider friends, but it looks like you've fallen into the "Waverly was the better team....Waverly would've won IF" bunch. Not sure I can stomach another 4 years of that crap /wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" /> I look forward to playing some new teams and getting to know some new posters. Should be a good time. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  25. Camden is playing McKenzie next year? Haven't heard that. If we are I'm glad...used to be a great rivalry and great gate. I hated the thought of moving across the river because of the loss of games like this one. Glad to see we are keeping our non-region schedule in the west.
