  1. Jeff Co. 21 Science Hill 34 I just don't think our defense can stop anyone anymore until they prove it.
  2. Wow! Waco, your top ten lists are ridiculous enough and something most folks laugh off. But this latest campaign of yours to smear a football team of high school kids just because you're upset because a few of the players from your favorite team got hurt is over the line at the very least. Football is a contact sport. Get over yourself. If a team were teaching it's kids to play dirty, the TSSAA would not tolerate it. There has been no such problem with them. There also have been no complaints til your players were hurt. Guess what, Jefferson County lost 3 very important players very early in the season as well. Did you see Jefferson County fans all over the boards complaining and whining? No. They apparently have a lot more class than the D-B fans that continue to follow threads about another school, harrassing them all season long. Frankly, i'm surprised CoachT hasn't locked you out of threads yet given your blatant accusations week in and week out. Go get a job, do something positive in your life and quit trolling the boards. It only makes you and the rest of the folks that do it look bad. Nobody thinks it's cute or funny unless you're from D-B. Other schools aren't going to jump on the bandwagon. Nobody is lining up to pat you on the back, nor laugh at your futile attempts to defame a bunch of high school kids playing football. Give it a rest. The only folks that the rest of the public see in a negative light are you folks that keep slinging baseless accusations against another school just because you're overly emotional about a few kids that got hurt in a contact sport. To CoachT and it's admin staff....how about we start locking down waco and some of the others that keep trolling Jefferson County posts every week and filling them up with accusations and slander?
  3. And I think the problem is the defense. They can't stop anybody, especially when they need to. Defensive co-ordinator needs to get it going or there needs to be changes. They're just sad on that side of the ball. I've never seen a Jeff Co. team give up so many points game in and game out. Yes, the offense gives up way too many turnovers, but winning starts on the defensive side of the ball.
  4. Anyone know the final score? Seems to be the only region 1 score that stopped updating. Thanks.
  5. Thoroughly explained and very well put. You can play a creme puff or two at some point to 'learn how to win' if necessary but you have to play good teams if you want to elevate your game and strive to reach your goal of being the best.
  6. I'm just not seeing the defense this year and i'm not sure we can hold DB to 35. I think the talent is there for Jeff Co. but i'm not seeing the intensity. I think too many of the guys got caught up in the injuries to various players and they've yet to figure out that they're still capable of being a very good football team with who is left. They need to learn to believe in themselves. If the weather is clear... Jeff Co. 7 DB 35
  7. Nice win Canes, grats and good luck the rest of the way. To our Pats, I hope we figure out what's wrong with our D and get it fixed. It's been a problem all year. No containment, the secondary has been out of position most of the season with the exception of a single game, and speed has been an issue with them. Also, the D-line will do well one series and then allow holes the size of the Atlanta by-pass the next. I would like to see our Offense opened up just a bit more. I think Darby can throw it well. Spread Brooks out occasionally and throw it to him on a slant, see if the defensive secondaries are willing to step up and take the hit to stop him. Find more ways to punish tacklers with his size. Let's get some plays in there quicker still and mix it up more. Use Brooks early in the games and wear down the defense with his punishing style. We just seem to plod along too slowly and our scores in the last 3 games reflect that.
  8. Let's see, you're a 'camper' with 3 posts. I think they should change that to 'troller' and maybe even tag juvenile on the front of it. This game has been over for a week and a half now and for some reason you still have an issue with it. Maybe you should spend more time in class working on your spelling and less time trolling the boards simply trying to be negative towards schools and teachers you resent for some reason that nobody on here cares about. This thread should be closed because the game is over and it has turned into nothing more than an outlet for you to anonymously channel your resentment of Jefferson County thru negativity. Grow up.
  9. Depends on the Patriots defense. If they can continue to improve and step up, they should be able to compete well. If not, it'll be a long night. Jefferson Co. 27 Morristown East 24
  10. We still seem to struggle with dropping out of coverage on pass plays way too soon at times. I would like to see more of what we saw in the 4th quarter with players getting up and getting to the wideouts and laying hits on them as they catch the ball, not chasing them down from 10 yards away after they've caught it. I think the problem is, the defensive front has been relying on the secondary to help stuff the middle too much and they're simply dropping out of coverage too soon at times. Could be youth, could be a lot things. Last night we seemed to make strides as the game went on though. By the 4th quarter we were laying some hits on WR's and it was nice to see. Seemed to get the rest of the defense fired up and the crowd into it every time we had a big hit. The defensive front took care of their own business last night, filling the holes very well, which probably played a big part in the secondary being able to stay in coverage better. One other thing, I thought we covered kicks pretty well last night. Hope they stop that short kick thing which has only led to a multitude of problems and continue to just kick it away. That kicker has a good leg and we were covering fairly well most of the night. Think they only had one really good return all night. I never did understand the short kick thing when the last staff did it, let alone now. We have the speed to cover the kicks, kick it away!
  11. Great win for JC while playing 3+ quarters short-handed. First, I have to give major props to Darby. I was one of the guys that said, this guy wouldn't make it as a QB, this being his second year of football. Credit where credit is due. The kid played great. Actually, truth be told, he was the best QB we've had all year. I wouldn't be surprised to see a permanent change at some point, possibly moving McFall back to his true position at RB. Second, Tolliver, simply put, was a beast last night. He must have broken somewhere around 15 tackles last night. A great show of power and vision in finding the gaps. Lastly, defense looked better, especially up front. Would still like to see some better reads in the secondary, but that said, we looked much better as the game went on. Perhaps we just needed a few games under our belts. There were some great hits (what a great hit by Goins in the 4th) in the secondary and quite a bit better coverage reading passes (nice job on the INT's by Moore and Grindstaff) and defending receivers in the second half last night. Great overall effort last night by all the kids who stepped up after the losses! Congrats on the win!
  12. We're actually focusing on our team, and what needs to be corrected. In the meantime, thank you for calling us 'whinners' which is pronounced winners. I believe the spelling you're looking for is 'whiners'. Perhaps before you start calling people names, you should check your own literacy. As for Mo West, I thought their line did a great job of opening huge holes and their RB's did a good job of finding them and getting into the secondary. That said, it was a two touchdown game. Show me a fan anywhere that knows what they're talking about and they'll analyze the game pretty much the same way. Without 6 turnovers, we would have had an excellent chance to win the game at the end, despite our horrible defense last week. Good luck to you too.
  13. This game could really go either way. It looks as if Campbell Co. has a fairly high scoring offense which could give Jeff Co. fits, no better than they played last week on defense. On the other side of the ball, it will most likely come down to speed. Does Campbell Co. have the speed on defense to contain McFall and company? I'm interested to hear from some Campbell Co. fans regarding the latter. Lastly, i'm curious to see if Jeff Co. can finally speed up the play calling. After 2 years of agonizingly slow play calling from the last coaching staff, this staff doesn't seem to get plays in any quicker. Jefferson Co. 27 Campbell Co. 20
  14. 1) Farragut 2) Ooltewah 3) Brentwood 4) Oak Ridge 5) Cookeville 6) Oakland 7) Franklin 8) Riverdale 9) Dobins-Bennett 10) Sevier Co.
  15. Grats to West for coming in focused and ready to play. The 14 thousand or so turnovers (most of which came from a single player, McFall) aside....what's the story on our defense? I know we had a key injury in the middle, but wow! Way too many holes in the defensive front. The offense looked good last night barring any more QB meltdowns down the road, but the defense looked horrible most of the night. Hope the front can figure out how to close those gaps better in the coming weeks or we're looking at a lot more losses than just West. McFall, with his height and speed, is a natural option QB, something we only ran once (resulting in a TD) which puzzled me why we didn't use it at least a few more times. Also, I thought Frank looked good last night, Mason did great on returns but needs to work on his defense. Thought we'd run Brooks more. I hope we don't give up field position all year long on kickoffs again. Lastly, what was Darby thinking on that pass play? He was staring off into who knows where?
  16. Well, given that Bradley Central has already beaten Oak Ridge, i'd have to at least say that ranking OR ahead of BC is a little bit off.
  17. Anyone have the score and/or stats from last night's Jeff Co./Mo West games? Thanks in advance.
  18. Happens when you get caught with your hand in the cookie jar.
  19. Again, the first five fouls called on BC were on the big men in the first quarter. Say what you want, the fact remains, they took the BC big men out of the game fast and early. Lastly, this is not something new. Greeneville is notorious for their officiating. It's very commonplace when you play there. It's the absolute worst home cooking i've ever witnessed at any level and it's consistent, year in and year out. I fully expect Greeneville to dispute it, that's normal, but it doesn't change the fact that it happens and everyone knows it. The sad thing is, it's a shame it even has to happen. And no, Greeneville uses a different officiating association at the middle school level for certain.
  20. No, his only offers have been Charleston, Charlotte, Richmond, Appalachian St. UT Chattanooga and the largest school being Miami of FL according to both Scout.com and Unapproved Website
  21. That's actually Wiggin's interest in those schools, not theirs in him.
  22. Amen. He's getting the best in state talent that will sign with him, and trying to get the best out of state talent he can get to sign as well, particularly out of the Big Ten area where he's well known by many high school coaches that produce big time talent. You recruit where you know the coaches and they know you. He's winning and bringing in good players. Wiggins is good and will go play somewhere, probably 1AA or something lesser, but Pearl is going after the 3 and 4 star blue chippers. You can do that when you're running a winning program like he has turned UT into.
  23. Wiggins isn't quite good enough for SEC material. He's a good player and will go somewhere, but not the SEC. He's not strong enough for one. Has a great outside touch but at his size, he needs to be getting to the rim more consistently, especially in high school. If he can't do it at this level, he isn't going to be able to do it at the SEC level.
  24. Very typical response from Greeneville following one of their home jobs, when officiating is mentioned, which is regularly. Wonder why it keeps coming up? The sad thing is, you have a great team this year. You don't need the officiating to be competitive or even to win. It's just a shame that you treat visiting teams that way. It's been going on for years at the middle and high schools both. Wiggins is a very good player, although he needs to bulk up if he's going to play D1 ball. The Gash kid is an outstanding player and the number 5 (don't recall his name) is a good shooter. It's just a shame that the refs don't call it fairly when they're on the court, but for anyone that's followed them over the years, it's rather expected, especially in tight games. As for Bearden, they were missing possibly their best, or one of their best, big men in your game and the final game. I suspect that game would have turned out differently and as for Shelbyville, i'd take them as well. Someone mentioned speed on here, Shelbyville is faster. Good luck Greeneville, you have a great team in a weak region this year so we probably won't see what you can really do til tourney time. As for your refs, well, good luck with that too. I would think sooner or later you'd get a conscience, but that's my mistake I reckon. You don't use the same referee association as the rest of the middle school or high schools in your region, why change now? Hehe
