  1. That sounds like something the big kid from Ravenwood would do. Too bad.
  2. This is not an easy one to answer because the private and public schools are so different. In terms of private schools, the facilities tend to be better and there is more consistency in terms of players and coaches. The public schools tend to be more inconsistent, but when they are good, they are often better than the private schools. This becomes a chicken vs egg argument in a lot of ways. For example, right now, the best public school in Nashville is probably Overton. But part of the reason for that is that there best player decided to go to Overton instead of one of the private schools that wanted him. Now, imagine how good Overton would be if the point guard from MBA (who is zoned to Overton) was there. Imagine if all the players at Ensworth zoned to Antioch didn't go there. Players really make good coaches. I think that CPA & MBA have good coaches. I have never seen Ensworth and many of the other private schools. I think that Hunters Lane, Overton, East Lit., Antioch, & McGavock have good coaches. If you are concerned about your son getting a college scholarship, that is 80% AAU and 20% High School. Don't send your child to a school for basketball. That will work itself out.
  3. A little passive aggressive, aren't we.
  4. It doesn't matter. Brentwood is better than Hillsboro.
  5. My guess would be Brentwood Hillsboro Ravenwood Franklin Independence Centennial
  6. Kyla is the second best player in the region only because of Harrison at Hillsboro. She is an exceptional player that, for whatever reason, has not gotten a lot of publicity. She is the best perimeter player in the midstate. (Cason at Siegal might be better, but they are so different, it's hard to compare.)

  8. Overton is a solid team that has a chance to make a run to the state tournament. They lost one player from last years district championship team. There best player is probably Mookie Betts. He is a big time player who would be recruited by a lot of mid-major type programs if he wasn't one of best baseball players in the state. (He may be the best.) They also have several other players who will play in college at some level or another.
  9. Brianna Morrow from Glencliff has committed to Jacksonville State
  10. There are always so many factors that go into why a kid picks one school over another. He had interest from South Carolina, Mississippi State, Vandy, and probably many others as well, but something must have compelled him to pick UT. It could be as silly as he likes the color orange, or because he thinks he'll start from day 1. Maybe his girlfriend is going there or his best friend is going there. Maybe he really liked the coaching staff or the players. Maybe that's where his parents want him to go. Maybe it's money-UT gave him a full ride while the others didn't. (I have no inside information, just thinking outloud) Mookie's a good kid and I am happy to see he is going to play at the next level. I hope that the UT situation is better when/if he gets there next year.
  11. Congrats to all the Tennessee girls! Oh wait...
  12. I saw Oneida, but it is hard for me to compare them since I don't really know what single A teams in that area are like. From what I saw, they play very hard and are well coached. They have a smallish post player who is solid and tough, but undersized. Guards don't turn the ball over, but there wasn't anyone who shot lights out. My impression of them is that they were a very good small school team that will have trouble with really athletic guards or a big post player. (BTW, the describes every team in the history of basketball.)
  13. They have several big, athletic players who are tough to guard. None of them are that tall, they are all just very strong.
  14. Mt. Juliet and Ensworth for sure, maybe Wilson Central is in that class. Obviously Riverdale and Clarksville.
  15. If you ever see the question "Is Ensworth recruiting (fill in the blank)?", the answer is yes. One of their parents recruited one of our kids during a freshman game.
  16. Pam has committed to play for Wingate University next winter. Congratulations to this all region 6AAA player.
  17. A player can apply to TSSAA if they transfer schools without a change of address. Typically, TSSAA will give an exception to a coach's child moving with a parent to a new school.
  18. Up 1, five seconds to go, team has to go the full length of the floor. At that point, you are no longer the underdog.
  19. I suppose that it was similar to the choke job Indy pulled as well Except they didn't give up a layup with only 5 seconds remaining.
  20. A couple of years ago, Wilson Central threw the Region championship game against Smyrna so they wouldn't have to face Hillsboro (who had been upset by McGavock). They went on to win the state championship.
  21. Overton and Glencliff will play in the championship on Tuesday. Antioch and Hunters Lane play in the consolation on Monday.
  22. Since Brentwood is the third seed and Hillsboro is second, they will probably meet in the semifinals. My guess is a Ravenwood-Hillsboro final, but it is impossible to guess. Indy and Franklin could both beat Ravenwood and Brentwood-Hillsboro are tossups.
  23. Kersetter is the best player in the district. Especially since Harrison missed a couple of games. Lauderdale is third.
