  1. Hearing from a very reliable source that Haywood may open up. Apparently, they dont wanna fork over the money to keep Dancy there. Kinda knew this would come since they just used a good amount to get Hoofkin down there. Basketball will always be 2nd to football in Brownsville.
  2. While i do agree that Tennessee doesn't need to go to 6 classes in basketball (its too many below average teams) they need to move all postseason games from the high schools to small colleges. Alabama, Mississppi, and Arkansas all play tourney games at college venues. Too many schools in this state have small gyms. More seats for fans will bring in more money. Nobody should ever get turned away at a sectional game because the schools gym only holds so many.
  3. And its time for the TSSAA to tear down the region playoff format and make it like Kentucky. 1 through 16 seeds. 64 teams. Lose and you are finished.
  4. This is a major black eye for Tennessee high school basketball. When ESPN and SI are making this front page headlines its a serious matter. Both coaches should be banned from coaching high school basketball in Tennessee and the schools should be on a 2-year probation. No tourney play at all. All games on the road. And no summer practice.
  5. I think Tasia Jones from Westview is gonna be a star. Very poised for a freshman. Barring something crazy happening, its a safe bet she will be playing D1 basketball. As for South Side, really nothing to gripe about. Just didnt make enough shots despite the good defensive effort. But the future is bright with all 5 starters returning plus the best 8th grader in West Tennessee (Memphis not included), is going to South Side. Should be top 3 in AA next year with Westview and Haywood. Who all is returning for Dyersburg?? They still should be a factor with the young players all getting great experience this year.
  6. Westview by 20 over Bolivar Lexington by 30 over Dyersburg South Side by 25 over South Gibson Fayette-Ware by 10 over Obion County
  7. Hope i dont hear of these teams purposely trying to lose like i did tonight with 15-AA. Covington and Ripley led both of the games at half. Upon both teams hearing scores from Memphis, pulled the starters in the third quarter. Thats not cool IMO. You dont stop playing because you dont want to face a certain team. Also heard RIverdale girls did it also. TSSAA needs to look at this.
  8. Lexington and Bolivar is the 14-AA girls championship. What im hearing is, IF the weather forces postponment of the girls games tomorrow, they will play Tuesday and boys will go Wednesday. The games will be played, even if the worst-case scenario is all 4 games have to be played Wednesday.
  9. Dyersburg is going to Bolivar. That matchup is set.
  10. Westview will cruise past McNairy and im taking South Gibson over either Lexington or Bolivar
  11. Well, 14-AA title game is set: Bolivar and Lexington and 3rd place game is South Side and McNairy. Crockett County i think is hoping South Side loses to McNairy. That would be a bad matchup for them in the first round of regionals. And if Dyersburg has to go to Lexington or Bolivar, im taking Dyersburg.
  12. My question: Will the issues at Douglass, Manassas, and Hamilton stop the teams from going to state??? Its gonna be hard to win 7 road games.
  13. Haywood, but Ripley and Covington are gonna give the Tomcats a battle. Culbreath is District MVP. All tourney: Varnado (HAY) Jarrett (HAY), Shanks (COV), Crawley (RIP), Murry (LIB) and Douglas (HAY)
  14. East A: Hampton, Grace East AA: Fulton, Brainerd East AAA: Bearden, Maryville Middle A: Loretto, Fayetteville, Clay Co. Middle AA: Creek Wood, CPA, East Nashville, Waverly Middle AAA: Brentwood, Blackman, Station Camp West A: Mitchell, Union City, Humboldt, Middleton, TCA, KIPP, BTW, Adamsville West AA, Haywood, Lexington, Jackson South Side, Manassas, Douglass, Covington, Ripley West AAA: Hamilton, Southwind, Houston, Germantown
  15. Think Lexington takes district. Chris McNeal easily takes district MVP. All tourney, McNeal (JSS), DJ Jackson (FW), Mikkel Norment (FW) Cortavious Miller (FW), Nick Marshall (LEX), Cornelious Polk (BOL)
  16. Would be super shocked if she is not a finalist. Gets double and triple teamed and still puts up 30+ a night. Bascially without her, Dyersburg isn't ranked top 5 in AA and one of the favorites for a state championship.
  17. From Micheal Odom (Jackson Sun preps writer): BREAKING: South Side senior post Malik Hicks has been ruled ineligible by the TSSAA for the rest of the season.
  18. Yes Malik Hicks is back at Jackson SS. Was on the bench tonight against Bolivar. No word ob when he will be able to play, but this changes AA now. SS goes back to being one of the favorites for the state championship again
  19. Jackson South Side is the best AA team from the West, how big is Elizabethton??
  20. Jackson South Side is number 2 IMO, right behind Elizabethton. They are better than Dyersburg, WAY better than Crockett County and they will handle McNairy and Bolivar in district play.
  21. I'll go West Tennessee (Memphis included) A: Middleton AA: Jackson South Side AAA: Ridgeway
  22. Well Gibson County took their second loss tonight 63-49 to Jackson South Side in the semifinals of the HUB Classic at Oman Arena. Tale of two halves: GC dominated the 1st half, and South Side won the second. Two quality losses to Graves County and South Side, probably the AA favorite in West Tennessee
  23. 13-AA is Dyersburg's to lose. Crockett County is 13-0, BUT looking at the records of the teams they have beaten so far, i wanna see them play Westview first then make a prediction on them. Obion County will finish 4th. 14-AA is bascially South Side, then a big drop off. I think Bolivar takes 2nd, Lexington 3rd, then McNairy, Chester Co. and Fayette-Ware. South Side wins Region 7, Dyersburg finishes runner-up.
  24. Deberry from what i hear is in hot pursuit from UT-Martin, SEMO, Tennessee State and the other OVC's. Is that his level??? OVC, Sun Belt, C-USA??? 6"6 guard who can put it on the floor and shoot it. Kinda reminds me of Barry Stewart, who came from Shelbyville.
  25. Take Marshall off and Lexington is a different team. Go at him and get him in foul trouble. Honestly in AA, its a toss up. Anybody could get to the Boro this year. Thats how down it is.
