  1. Spoken like a fan whose team almost got beat by the Cougars!
  2. According to the TSSAA website, enrollment at Gallatin - 1372 and Brentwood - 1519. Closer than you would think and almost insignificant when you consider how many of the "extra" young men would actually go out for football. Leave out freshmen and sophomores and you are really only talking about a player or two that would have a chance at varsity level playing time for Brentwood. The other 6A teams in Williamson are closer to the 2000 you mention and most of the Rutherford County teams (except for Oakland - poor guys ) are right at or over the 2000 number. Numbers help but coaching and execution are the key. http://www.tssaa.org/newenrollments.cfm
  3. There's a rumor that they are undefeated when scoring more points than the other team but I find it hard to believe they didn't slip up in at least one of those games!
  4. My apologies if I didn't give Indy proper credit for those 4 yards against the Brentwood starters. Good job!
  5. What they did to score in the 4th quarter is have Brentwood sub their first team defense!
  6. BA edges Brentwood in the semifinals and loses to a team from Ohio in the finals. A long 2 days of 7 v 7.
  7. Wow, talk about a first hand account! Good luck in your recovery.
  8. I think most of the quotes regarding Arlington were good and correct. You did not come close to living up to your #1 seed. Your team got beat by a team that was lucky to get in the playoffs. Bitter much? Good luck to White Station I will be pulling for you guys as well. Great game last night. Your offense has a lot of playmakers (especially the QB- WOW!) and I thought your defense was generally in all the right places (sounds like good coaching to me!). How is the bystander that got hit last night? I heard two broken legs - is that right? I hope not.
  9. You know highschoolking, some people MIGHT say that being a premier football team in Memphis is the equivalent to being the smartest kid in summer school or the skinniest person at a fat farm. Not me mind you, just some others in Middle and East Tennessee. Let me tell you why teams in Memphis don't win The state Championships that often, are you listening ? well looking, ok here it goes ( POOR COACHING) !!!! There you have it and I said it. Quality coaches leave the city for a better administration than the Memphis Board of Education. Tim Thompson, Jake Rudolph, Major Wright, Kenny Ingram, Wayne Randall, John Cooley are a few that I will bet the house, savings, and cars on if they were coaching teams like Whitehaven, White Station, Mitchell, Melrose, East, and Fairley. I hear you and I was just messin' with you. I don't even have a dog in this hunt - I just use that line whenever I can. Like Michael from The Office saying "that's what she said" all the time. Good luck to both teams.

  11. I don't see how you could put franklin ahead of brentwood when they lost all three times to brentwood last year and at least one of the jv games wasn't even close. Couldn't resist and yes, I know it really doesn't matter what happened last year. I would think after Hillsboro, you just don't know how the rest are going to shake out. I'm guessing no real dominant team with lots of exciting games. bump
  12. maybe in basketball... This along with i65DJFD's quote above (which appears to have been removed) got me to thinking about rivalries in Wilco. Does Franklin now consider Indy the bigger rival than Brentwood or is there just more smack between the two?
  13. Congratulations to the Spartans on a great season and we are looking forward to hosting you guys this week. As a Germantown graduate I know I don't buy into the assumption that we have a better team just because we play in Middle Tennessee. Each year brings new players, new circumstances, etc. As for the Bruin team, we have a solid defense that can bend at times but doesn't break often. Our offense is varied with multiple formations. Sometimes spread and sometimes option. We have a 1500 yd rusher but four others with over 200 yards. 8 guys have over 10 carries and 8 guys have five or more receptions. How about you guys? Looking forward to a good game Friday night and any school that has produced Bill Cook and Joe Jackson is good in my book.
  14. I really doubt many people in Middle TN will be "shocked" if Indy loses. The Ravenwood loss last week was BAD. On the other hand, if they win, few will be all that surprised either. Nobody around here knows anything about Arlington. If Arlington were to win and then win the next game, Middle TN would be shocked. Good luck to all.
  15. Everyone understands that have played @ Brentwood. The refs are absolutely ABSURD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! clock operation, obsessive penalties on the opposing team. The refs HANDED brentwood the win against Indy with a muffed punt recovered by Indy but oh wait flag for illegal procedure. The ball was on the INDYs 4 and they moved it back to the one? had to punt again out of the back of the endzone and was returned for a touchdown. On another punt, a kick catch interference? but the returner caught the ball took two steps and got drilled...guess the refs felt bad for the guy ...then the refs had absolutely NO clue where the ball was before and it was at Indy's 27? around and backed us up 15 but it should have been half the distance, and we had to wait at least 5 min while the refs figure out where to put the ball and they still didn't get it right...It's actually hilarious listening to the refs at brentwood in their discussions, asking "wait where was the ball before the punt?" "I have no clue because the box moved" "ok um..let's just move it back 15" "but it was inside the 30" "I know but where" "oh well it wasn't that far behind...just move em back 15" absolutely RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's a joke and it was pretty much the same crew that reffed the blackman vs. brentwood game as far as a i could tell on tv... good thing that the franklin game is at franklin beccause if not, I would have to say brentwood would win, but now it might be a good, FAIR game . OK I don't post much but I can't let some of this stuff go - especially from the indy fans who apparently have deluded themselves into thinking they lost because of the refs. First to Blackman: I echo PBD and others in saying great game between two classy and well coached teams. Your players showed a ton of heart and never gave up. I didn't see any cheap shots - very well played. But some of the comments about the refs go too far. I'm not saying they were the best but on the punt call in question I didn't see the hold but without a doubt I saw the one player I watch closely -and have watched him every game of his life closely- was without question shoved from behind. He was in position to make the play and was shoved. Not called but a hold was. Every play they could probably find something to call. Some are and some are not. I don't know the final tally for penalty yards but we had several holds called on us as well. The clock operator was bad - no doubt. I'm not sure how it helped us. Thirty more seconds on the clock would have helped a ton on our last drive. Bad - yes, but not slanted to us, in my opinion. He was a seasoned citizen and may have been caught up in the drama. OK indy fans, lets put it to rest that you lost the game to brentwood because of bad officiating on the two punts questioned above. On the first punt, the flag was in the air before the ball was punted. I don't remember whether it was illegal formation or motion, but either way the ref has no idea whether the brentwood guy is going to fumble it or run it for a touchdown. Again, the flag was in the air BEFORE the outcome of the play was known. We were lucky on that one no doubt. On the second punt, brentwood fields the ball and was tackled immediately. If nothing is called it is brentwoods ball right there. They backed you up and your punter booms the second ball and brentwood loses five to ten yards on the transaction. How did that help brentwood? Anyone? It was a positive for indy! Several posters have made this same comment and it shows a lack of knowledge on their part. You didn't lose the game because of the refs. You lost - much like we lost to Blackman - because you didn't play all four quarters and your opponent never gave up. Back to Blackman. YOU ARE BLACKMAN! Good luck the rest of the way and I hope to play you guys again. I think that would be for the championship unless the new system changes that.
  16. Rebels got lucky Ravenwood's coach made a bad call to go for it on 4th and 2 from their own 39 at the start of the 4th quarter and only down 1 score (+2pt conversion). What was up with that? Ravenwood appeared to have some momentum after scoring and then containing Rebels in the 3rd quarter. That took the wind out of their sails for sure. I don't know if they could have won or not but that took away any chance they had. Nice pass on the first play for Franklin after that (did you see that wilco dudes?)
  17. -------------------------------------------- Extremely close but I think Smyrna's TD right after the half woke the Bruin offense up. Moved the ball at will the rest of the half. Not sure if Smyrna wore down, but I like the fight in our guys. Missing three starters on defense that only had two returning from last year's team, they all played played with heart and determination. Good luck the rest of the way Smyrna.
