  1. End of 2nd quarter was the big turning point. Hyde started at slot, Maddox at fullback. Williams didn't play as much as I thought he should. UC offense hurts itself worse than any defense. Officiating was poor. UC started two sophomores on defensive line, three sophomores at linebacker, and one sophomore and one freshman in the secondary. The problem's not pride, it's puberty. Most all of these boys were on the meat squad last year for the only uc team that can call itself the "best". For the time being, these boys need to learn how to overachieve. LC was far more athletic overall and outweighed our line by a 30-40 pound average it looked like. Scales didn't play and he is sorely missed on defense.
  2. Lake County won't stop the veer, but UC's offense can. Comes down to our turnovers. Defensively we'll have our hands full. As far as our speed at the Humboldt game, our speedster was benched. If you think LC women are better lookers than UC's, you've never stepped outside the Tiptonville city limits.
  3. If we needed Williams for any game, it was the Humboldt game. The coach didn't let him play there. I sure hope the coach lets him play this friday. That boy is lighnting fast.
  4. Dysart, Barnes, Crumble, Gore, & Shanks were the o-linemen. Hyde is possible for LC game. Scales is very possible for LC game. Williams saw very limited playing time for being late to two practices.
  5. Biggest concerns for the UC offense are fumbled handoffs and pitches and penalties on third and short. "IF" that has been eliminated, they will rack up yardage, eat up the clock, and score 28+ points. If the UC defense can keep the Humboldt backfield from turning upfield on the corners, UC wins the game. It's going to be a tough game.
  6. If you shut down TCA's quarterback, you shut down TCA's entire offense. Also don't pass in his vicinity when he's on defense. McKenzie wins by 10.
  7. One other characteristic of this team is that it fumbles more than the 2009 team.
  8. Last year's team was senior-heavy at starting positions. This year's team is sophomore heavy at starting positions. The 2009 team starting playing with confidence and hit with authority starting this week of the schedule last year. Will see this friday about this team. The 2010 team has yet to weed out the penalties. This year's team has more speed in the backfield. The o-line this year is not quite up to par with last year's, yet. The d-line and linebackers this year are still a little behind last year's. Secondary this year is faster overall, but erratic on pass coverage. This year's team has more upside potential than last year's team. I think bone-headed penalties will be the number one item to hold the 2010 team back.
  9. Washington is a very good ball player. Reads the field well. He was probably 100% of TCA's offense last night and probably led the team in tackles. UC still has a fumble problem and seems to commit penalties on third and short. UC line on both sides needs to turn it up one notch.
  10. #1 in the 1A poll proved to be very acurate throughout the year last year. Didn't it?
  11. UC wins by 10. Bowling doesn't lose this game.
  12. The UC passing game was downright impressive. Defense is become a little more grittier. If they could stop the fumbles, their game will really improve. I still believe this team is faster than last year's team. Trying to stall and eat up clock in the 4th quarter just about cost us the game. The kicker came around there at the end.
  13. Looks like Coach Bowling didn't have to cross the Atlantic to find a kicker this year.
  14. The team has potential to advance deep into the playoffs this year, maybe even to the state championship again. Youth and inexperience will be the obstacles to overcome. The secondary is faster than last year, but they need a lot of work on assignments. Our slots are a little bit faster than last year also. The team has stronger players this year compared to last year, but it remains to be seen how gritty they'll be down the stretch. One of the many strong suits of last year's team was how fast our offensive lineman could get to the opponent's linebackers. I believe this team is going to be capable of doing the same. Huntingdon will be an extremely big test for our team and should be a pretty good indicator of what our postseason chances are. We're going to pass a little, not much, more than last year. Seen any kickers floating around? Go get 'em Tornadoes!
  15. Where can we go to purchase the video of us beating South Pitiful? I'd like to watch this game again on tv.
  16. Get a grip. We kept you guys in the game when we fumbled on one of our first posessions and caused us to lose a down. We also tried to help ya'll out when we tried to pass. No question that the refs helped ya'll on the two point conversion. Your defensive ends were big boys, just got pushed out of the way.
  17. South Pitiful Is Number TWO!!! Don't let anyone forget it. They might make a run for it in flag football.
  18. We need to give our offensive line even more accolades. Those guys completely dominated South Pitiful in the trenches. Those slow grind drives were outstanding.
  19. Hey, you arrogant South Pitiful blowhards! I just need to know where to send the polish for your silver ball. You can buff it at each practice and remember why we're called the "Golden" Tornadoes.
  20. We're about four hours from Cookeville. The Huntingdon game has been my favorite game this year.
  21. Union City fans make a point to watch the YouTube video back on page 27. It shows South Pittsburgh playing Jasper. They played with 3 down lineman and blitzed their linebackers. If you start considering how that matches up against our offense, you have to start feeling pretty good. We need to see a YouTube video of their offense.
  22. Tips for Wayne County opponents: 1) Bring your flashlights. When you kick field goals in one of the end zones, the ball disappears in the dense timber (no kidding). 2) Be prepared for the WC band or AC/DC on the pa system to be blaring while your qb is calling plays at the line of scrimmage. 3) Be prepared for a "smack" talking ball club. Maybe the worst we've played this year. You know it's bad if you can provoke our center enough for him to start shoving. Wayne County did have a big, loud crowd, which is good. Their team turned out to be more physical than I was expecting.
  23. Temperature is supposed to be 41 degrees at kickoff. Wind at 4mph or less and a clear night. Pretty good night for football.
  24. I'm hearing that the Tornado Tailgaters will be gathering by 5pm at Wayne County.
