  1. It’s seriously difficult to beat a really good team twice in the same year, and Powell is really good. I’m picking Powell in the rematch as well. But with that said, if we both (OR & Powell) make it to the semifinals, that means we would have to beat them twice, which would be a h$&@ of a chore in itself.
  2. I agree pretty much with everything you said, but you also have to take into account that the QB is still only a Sophomore, albeit we are deep enough into the season where he needs to cut out some of those throws he makes and just throw the ball away. Like you said, though, I lay a lot of the blame on the coaches for putting him in those types of positions. Right now his arm strength isn’t up to par to make some of the throws he makes, but that will improve as he gets older and stronger. He’s very good for a Sophomore, I will say. Granted, he has some great weapons available out there, which certainly helps his cause. Also, don’t forget #2. He’s starting to blossom, but as you alluded to, this time of the season it’s good to put the ball in the hands of your seniors, for the most part.
  3. Why do you think we will win easily? Not saying we won’t, but just interested in others’ opinions. Clinton seems to be on a little roll. Granted, besides MC their opposition has been quite soft during that run. And honestly, it seemed like MC fell way down from where they were midway through the season. Clinton does deserve credit though. I don’t want to take anything away from what they’ve accomplished past 3-4 weeks.
  4. EH QB is super elusive. As much or even more so than Clinton’s QB. They had some of the best skill players we’ve played all season. Remember they beat WV too. EH ain’t no slouch by any means. It’s hard to believe WV only put up 10 against their defense though.
  5. We have gotten most back, hopefully #8 will be back this coming Friday night.
  6. Yeah, I actually was kinda disappointed, tbh.
  7. Should be interesting. Hard to beat a team twice in the same year.
  8. Yeah, he’s been trolling like that for a good 3 years or so. Surprised you’re just now catching on. Lol
  9. Well, I shouldn’t say EVERY private does that, but there’s a reason for the public/private split. It’s not a very level playing field for obvious reasons. Very few public schools can match up on a yearly basis.
  10. Yes, unless Boone gets that Blazer guy in the lineup that posts on here.
  11. This I agree with. HS rankings are meaningless anyway.
  12. Yeah, about 3-4 skill players, from my understanding, not the whole team.
  13. I’d hope so, given they can get about any kid they want.
  14. Ok, after I sent my initial message, I thought that’s what you meant. Sorry about that.
  15. That last one may end up being the best game out of them all.
  16. Heck, who knows man. To be the best you gotta beat the best, regardless of how it transpires.
  17. How y’all supposed to be this year on the hardwood?
  18. I think that was another year you’re thinking of, maybe ‘79 or ‘80, because the only game OR lost in ‘75 was to Knox Central, 7-3. Beat Nashville Maplewood in the finals, 46-22. I could’ve misread your post though. If so, I apologize. http://www.ahsfhs.org/tennessee/teams/gamesbyyear.asp?year=1975&Team=Oak+Ridge
  19. Wow, long time ago. Oak Ridge won state that year in 3AAA and were #3 in the nation, I believe. Many ages ago. Seems like we beat MC in the playoffs that season.
  20. Clinton has plenty of talent, but they’re a strange team, who knows which team will show up. I thought OR (if we win, that is) plays the winner of the Rhea/Lenoir City game?
  21. I mean, we already beat Powell earlier this year. Admittedly, some of Powell’ turnovers helped us early on, but we were definitely the superior team second half of that game. I know they’ve improved a lot since then, so it’d be very tough to beat them once again, but this has been a crazy season so far, I won’t rule out anything happening.
  22. Well, of course not, Texas is humongous. It’s crazy to expect a state as small as Tennessee to put out that type talent.
