  1. Congrats to 95 lobo girls for winning state this year. They had to knock out 2-3yrs defending state champ Brentwood in brackets and then won versus KFC in Final 3-1. You will represent TN well at Regionals!!!
  2. I was at State and heard Chattanooga people giving details. They say they have it in writing that TSSA said sit her in RPL. If that is true, and then they made her sit again, something is amiss. When do rules get reviewed for next season? It will be interesting to see if they change somehow. As for Chattanooga .... it's an interesting place for soccer. Too bad for the kids though really. I was there and it was a crazy weekend...I'm with U16 Lobo girls....here is what I understand but I won't promise it is 100% accurate but here goes from our side... We had to open with Redoubt (ersa - black) who was the #1 finisher in RPL this year over Brentwood. Sometime during the week leading up to the tourney we were notified that Redoubt had a player get a red card in last years championship and she should have to sit out. I think we heard either wed or thurs. Dale B was asked what was going on and he said Ersa Red coach had called him earlier that week. Bottom line, new guy over TN competive Div I declared player ineligible on thursday..(i think) It is my understanding this was brought up a long time ago and Dale B agreed for the player to sit first PL game...they thought they were square with state.....problem is TN state has a "policy" that states you must sit out first state game (not premier league)...I support redoubt parents and coach thinking they were good...to me the problem is Dale B or whoever at state office who doesn't know their own policies. therefore, player did have to sit a 2nd game. Also, everybody knew lobos were #1 team at large...Redoubt wins premier so in theory should get to avoid us in bracket....Nope....this year they go to east and west division and they always have the west #1 play PL Champ....(this is not fair to west tn but we will save that for another day) Lobos should have opened with brentwood on friday evening and redoubt whould have played FC Alliance and probably would have won and survived the player having to sit out. It definitely benefitted Lobo's but we were preparing to play them with full roster. We have seen ttoo many weird things. Please know the Lobo's didn't demand the player not play...we were following up to find out was this information correct that we were hearing from ersa red coach. If so, we would like to know for planning purposes. We were shocked that a fellow coach did this...In the end, we played redoubt and won 4-0....we played great...unfair to them...so we think we've won our most difficult game and we are in drivers seat to make it to championship....nope...in game two, we play really flat first half...give up two goals to Ersa-Red (the #2 seed from the east) and lose 2-1....basically the whole 2nd half was spent in their half of the field but their D and Keeper (who is awesome) played tough and so now we are an emotional wreck...our fate is now going to be determined at 5pm game between who else....Ersa Black (redoubt) vs Ersa Red...you just can't make this stuff up...needless to say very long afternoon and Ersa Red put up valiant effort but Black dictated from get go. Redoubt didn't score 1st goal until about 20mins into 2nd half...they scored pk 10 mins later to ice game and we could breath. Hats off to Ersa Black for doing what we failed to do and hats off to ersa red players for their effort... Needless to say I was numb and at that point just thankful to be in championship game versus Brentwood. Needless to say we played really well....1st half was about equal....2nd half was all lobo's but we couldn't score and brentwood hit a nice shot from distance in 1st half that got in just under crossbar. Can't swear to this but think it was the only "true shot" on goal and it went it...we lose 1-0. Welcome to Tn soccer...it can be awesome, it can be painful but at the end of the day we would do it all over again.....except win the championship fyi....ersa red advanced due to tie breaker rule over redoubt (goal differential from 3 way tie)...even though redoubt had just beat them 2-0....problem was redoubt lost to lobos 4-0. Ersa Red won 3rd 1-0 over TNFC.
  3. Congrats....nice to see what appears to be an all TN team that is regionally based. Goes to show you can have a good team while not practicing 200+ miles away.
  4. What do you mean "not as good".......the players? Or did this list just not include your favorite player? And of course the teams that made state get the most PR. All the players are very deserving, but as pointed out previously, any list will leave very good players out; it just depends on who made out the list. I think the coaches are probably the most knowledgable, but will have some bias. The writers list will always be from those that got the most exposure IMO. Each list is a honor, but Congratulations are in order for everyone that made either list. Of course congrats are in order. No list is perfect....that's why we have coach T!!! Maybe a better choice of words would have been I didn't think their list was as "complete"...as in recognizing the best players across the state versus those who are good players but got recognition due to their teams success. We all know awesome girls who play for avg teams but don't get as much pub due to the lack of their teams success. two great players and 9 bad players cant beat a solid team. It's just pure numbers. Some of ya'll have mentioned part of my issue which is the writers usually only make certain games and those are the ones they know to nominate. Fair enough...it is what it is....but coaches know the players and their talent because they have to prepare for them. If you can't make both list, I rather be on the coaches list eventhough it is bigger. And no...I'm not worried about my "favorite" girl making it. We'v been in the soccer cirlces now for 8-10 years, club, odp, etc...so I'm familiar with some of the girls state wide that were left off and also some local girls that were not recognized. IMO...these girls are not only better players but they had better seasons then some mentioned. Just because a team was at state doesn't mean their starting midfielder or their starting center defender should make the writers poll. that's why you have all tournament teams.
  5. This list is not as good as the coaches list. Obviously due to being carved down some there are some big omissions. This list appears to be influenced by those that made state. Interesting...
  6. Could this be the Crush's year to overtake Brentwood ? Or was the weather a factor ? D Any 94 info? Also, 95 brentwood took fairly big hit with 3 odp level players leaving the team. They are still good but scoring will probably be down. KFC could be the favorite but pay attention to 95 lobo's. they tied 95 brentwood at state and added 2 odp level players that dropped down from 94 Fury/MSFC and had a few top players come over from 95 MSFC. They have definitely improved so state should be really up for grabs this year.
  7. I find the whole discussion interesting....If you are on a really good club team and qualifying for showcase events you can be seen. The best way to be seen is to go to camp at that college where they can see you for 2-5 days. If you are good and that's where you want to play...that is the most cost effective way to get on their radar...can you do it without playing odp...yes.....how often does it happen to a major D1 school? my guess...10%....I know a girl that is dynamite and will play in the sec who doesn't play odp but its because she is talented enough to get away with it. Now...my main reason for chiming in is I support odp. I believe the value of what we have received has been well worth every penny....and yet I don't think it's that overwhelming or expensive when i look at what i get from club soccer. We normally have 3 tryout dates from Nov-Jan (one a month avg) in nashville or 3hrs away for us... a weekend in decatur, al in march...a practice in june to prepare for Region camp and then Region camp in Ala. Most weekend sessions are $50-$75 registration fee for 3 training sessions and great competition. Region camp for $500 dollars has tons of coaches from across the SE US who get to see your kid. You get a coach from another state to watch and coach your team while you are there. Most or all coaches are A license coaches. It's 100% fine to say that you don't want to play odp but for anyone to say it's too much or cost too much when you haven't participated becomes a little hollow to me.... In fact, I believe the TN teams ought to play in a couple of tournaments so that the team can perform better at region camp and qualify for the Reg III championships. But when you consider they using the high level players and those players have team committments they need to fullfill...tn odp has appeared to keep the committment at a very reasonable request. Please know this is just an opinion but it is an opinion from someone who chose not to do odp year one due to thinking it was going to be too much on my child and for the last 3 years have loved every minute of it and my daughter has not been selected to the Reg pool. In the near future we will have another question to cross, my daughter will committ DI and when she does do we do odp the next year??? I can't answer that at this moment...we know the value but do we just play club and HS? that's a bridge we will have to cross and i don't know the answer....
  8. I don't see any results....did the games get played? If so, looking for 95 and 94 results....if anyone knows please share....thx...
  9. losing those games had nothing to do with shaking cobwebs....they just faced some good teams and got beat. O.R. did get some "mo" late but Houston still would have beaten them at the end of the season. Houston did face a rowdy crowd that evening and still won handily. I'm sure if OR had gone undeafeated at KH you wouldn't be talking about shaking the cobwebs. In fact, one thing I noticed about OR is if the KH is for shaking the cobwebs and developing your team the coach wasn't doing it. Very limited in his substitutions that weekend. I saw games in hand by OR with 10 mins left and starters still in so let's don't kid ourselves. He was there to win every game and win by a big margin if he could. I don't know OJ so I have no opinion on situation. My only experience was KH and i saw OR play 3 times.
  10. What would you do under those circumstances? This years Cumberland Gap game is similar as they are a new program. Look at the scores of other teams who played Cumberland Gap. There are many teams out there playing in similar situations. Page and Greeneville both are playing in conferences with markedly weaker teams that they must play. Look at Greeneville's non-conference schedule though and you can see Eiskamp trys to make up for it by playing the best whenever he can. I cant believe this whole rationalization.....putting in jv or freshman isn't the answer....there are a couple of teams in west tn that their freshman teams are better than their JV and would give their varsity a run.... The answer is in the heart of the coaches and their leadership....22-0 is like beating someone in basketball 100 to 2....scores like that get you on the news as unsportsmanlike... try things like you can only score off a header, no shots from inside the box, use left foot only (assuming right footed player)....we had some local AAA playoff games where the the coach quickly dropped down to 11 vs 8.... you can defend coach all you want but those scores are a sign of immaturity as far as I'm concerned.....lastly, saying other teams beat these teams bad also....no excuse what other teams are doing.......be an adult....be a leader....set the standard......
  11. are you kiddin me....the only soccer played in west tn is either in shelby county (memphis) and in jackson, TN ......they have basically played teams that have no socccer training.....jcs is probably their best opponent to date losing 4-0 and JCS is below avg this year. not being ugly but jv should play this game or play 3 players down to get a work out.....dyersburg will sometimes have a good basketball team for girls....there are some athletic girls around but they don't play soccer. my concern for ND would be not getting in a good run to prepare you for your next match or the possibility of injury due to playing unskilled girls. Game plan...score 2 goals in first 5-10 mins and then remove starters to avoid injury.
  12. Region 7 will be gone after this weekend. There are better teams in region 8 that are already gone. Wish they would expand districts to top 4 and let crossover play happen. Better matchups would happen versus allowing district and region protection of weak teams. I think they do that in boys basketball and they use to do it in football until the new model this year.
  13. Now that I've heard the "oak ridge version" of the game is there anyone that will give us the Bearden view. In the end it doesn't change the result and it's a shame that a very good team has to go home early when there are some crappy teams still playing.....eventhough the weak district teams will be going home this weekend. Congrats to oak ridge on your victory. Seems like you are perservering through a roller coaster season.
  14. i don't know if the person who previously posted this was a yeah or nea but kat is a perfect example of a crazy good high level player that even with her talent has 100 goals currently over 3 years or 33 avg per year. that sounds reasonable and i know against some weak teams she could score 10 in a game if allowed. congrats kat and keep it going...
