  1. I have. You guys are being too generous with your predictions; this game will not be close. I've seen 35-7 and 35-14. I'm going to make all of my Memphis people mad with this, but forget just scoring 35 points, Maryville will win by 35.
  2. I think Mitchell has the best shot at winning a championship. MUS is a better team than MBA, but MBA seems to be on one of those magical runs. I'd love to see White Station beat Brentwood, but I don't see it happening.
  3. I've got nothing else to say. It wrinkles my brain to think that people actually believe that West TN is on par with Middle and East TN when it comes to football. We will agree to disagree, and we will just let the numbers continue to show that me, Ace5, BMack and TraderB are correct.
  4. Is winning the state championship not every team's ultimate goal? It is, right? Then why is that not a fair measuring stick? If repeatedly playing in a championship game does not represent the quality of a team, then please tell me what does. Yes, this would make it more conclusive, but the only thing we would see is the majority of West Tennessee teams go out in the first round. The way it's set up now, one of them is guaranteed a semifinal game. If it was set up your way, we'd never see a West Tennessee team in the semifinal round. They would all run into an Ooltewah, Maryville, Riverdale, Oakland, Franklin or Brentwood and be sent home. You said Aydelott was not a coaching virtuoso, I was just wondering why. I thought maybe it was because he runs a version of the Wing-T. Coaches that run the Wing-T usually catch a lot of flack. He's doing something right though. It's two early to tell about Rutherford, but if Saulsberry is just as good, then why hasn't he had the same success?
  5. I'll be one of the 10-15 thousand folks at Oakland-Riverdale.
  6. The first statement I highlighted is a statement that we don't agree upon. I think you don't give enough credit to the athletes on the White Station team. They are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball and Whitehaven doesn't have any advantage in that category. We can agree to disagree however. The second thing that I highlighted is a coach I am familiar with and he isn't a coaching wonder or a coaching virtuoso in any regards in my book. Yes ... he is a good coach but you can have him ... I'll take Rutherford and Saulsberry. I'm not familiar with McDaniel to make any comments on his coaching ability. Again ... those teams that YOU THINK are better then Whitehaven ... I Don't. Time will tell. We will see who's in the championship game and who is not. If I'm not mistaken, this is McDaniel's 3rd year as a head coach. He took Moore County from 3-7 to 7-4 in his first year. Then Oakland came calling, and we all saw what he did at Oakland last year after that team was just mediocre for years. What's wrong with Aydelott, other than him running a version of the Wing-T?
  7. I'd say that Fisher fella gets it. What's his first name? Wasn't he a HC before coming to Millington?
  8. If GQ isn't allowed to coach, it would be great for the announcers to point that out and put TSSAA on the spot during their telecast.
  9. Why do you think that Whitehaven would fare better vs Oakland or Riverdale, than would White Station? Why do you think that Oakland would shut out Whitehaven? I think Whitehaven has better athletes than White Station and that would help them against a Rutherford County team. I've seen White Station and I've seen Oakland in the last few weeks, and I haven't seen anything that leads me to believe that White Station would have any success against Oakland's defense. Oakland's defense is unreal. They have shut out several teams this year, and some of those teams are better than Whitehaven. A lot of it also has to do with coaching. I'd take Aydelott and McDaniel over Rutherford and Saulsberry any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
  10. Someone already on their staff...the DC I think...
  11. GREETINGS FROM DA HAVEN I must take strong exception to the comment that I highlighted in red... Riverdale and Oakland don't have the same caliber of athlete as Whitehaven neither does Farragut... I am saying this off of seeing these teams play in the past (I attended college in the middle east part of Tenn. @ TTU) and present (I've seen games on CSS)... Now Maryville is a whole different thing, they have some decent athletes but mainly their coaching seems to be above and beyond anyone in the whole state so it would be very interesting playing against those guys, but those other schools are certainly on the same level as Whitehaven... We could very well beat any one of those "so-called Tenn. HS football powerhouses"... I hope we get past these Spartans so Da Haven can start gettin it's proper respect throughout this state... We constantly send young brothers to school who grow up to be productive citizens where ever they reside. Most of these other schools who are "powerhouses" barely can get 4 of their guys in someone's school for football... Most of the time they create this losers who all they got is their HS days! Sad! RESPECT DA HAVEN As good as District 16 is, the teams from Rutherford County are that much better. Whitehaven would probably stand a better chance against an Oakland or a Riverdale than White Station, but if you think Whitehaven, even with all of their athletes, could score on Oakland's defense, you are nuts. Oakland is giving up a touchdown a game and Riverdale is only giving up 10 points an outing. And both of them play in hands down the best district in Tennessee. I'm from this side of the state, so I'd love to see West Tennessee close the gap some, but let's be honest, it hasn't happened yet.
  12. I cannot wait for this game! Is it true that they are expecting upwards of 10,000 fans?
  13. I'm the one that said the football in West Tennessee (not Memphis) is not on the same level with football in Middle and East Tennessee. I wasn't talking about the private schools. Sure, on any given Friday night, a team from West Tennessee can beat a team from Middle or East Tennessee, but as a whole, the football is better east of here. That said, it looks like the winner of the Melrose-Mitchell game has a legit shot at a championship this year. However in 6A, Arlington lost to Indy in the 1st round and the winner of the Whitehaven-White Station game doesn't stand a chance against Franklin or Brentwood and for sure not against Riverdale, Oakland, Farragut or Maryville.
  14. Melrose's QB is completeing 55% of his passes for an average of 194 ypg with 20 TDs and 7 INTs.
  15. Earlier this week, I read Whitehaven/Wooddale was at Kirby. That's also what it says in today's CA. It could be at Melrose, but I'd guess Kirby because I read it in two different places. I think the Sheffield game is at Halle.
