We are aware of some situations within the state where electronic communication devices may have been used between coaches and players in football contests. Rule 1.6.2 of the NFHS Football Rules Book speaks to this issue.
Electronic communication devices, including but not limited to audio recorder, Local Area Network (LAN) phones and/or headsets, mobile phones, still photograph(s), film, analog or digital video(s) and/or Internet depictions may be used by coaches and nonplayers.
The rule does not allow players on the field to use this equipment during the game.
If this happens, the players involved and the head coach will be issued a flagrant unsportsmanlike penalty, resulting in their ejection.
