  1. 7 point game in 4th quarter...then 3 of CC's starters were fouled out in about 2 minutes time...game over at this point...MLK left starters in against CC's second team until about 30 seconds left in game and ran up the score...officiating was dreadful...MLK killed CC on the boards
  2. Cannon is peaking at the right time I think. They should move the Region finals to a neutral site in Murfreesboro.
  3. Cannon was up by 30 in the 3rd quarter. All starters were pulled at the beginning of the 4th quarter.
  4. Cannon County's Sissom scored 46 in their district semifinal game. Not too shabby against a tough Smith County team.
  5. 46 points by Sissom is impressive but not a school record. Julie Powell from CC scored 55 vs. Page on Dec. 23, 1989.
  6. Cannon over Central Magnet 62-51. Cannon controlled the game leading the whole game except for the first minute or so and led by as much as 14 in the second half.
  7. LA Vs. Smith Co. box score... LA- 17 11 19 11 SC- 10 10 19 12 You can draw your own conclusions but it looks like it was a draw for 3 of the 4 quarters. Hackett scored 32 and Sells got 24.
  8. Wow, this game has really surpised me. Cannon played one of their worst games ever and was still in the game at the end. I was not that impressed with CAK to be honest. I really thought Macon would blow CAK out.
  9. After all the flack about their last game with McMinn Central, Cannon should just adopt "honey badger don't care" as their theme this year. You can search youtube or google it to see the original "honey badger don't care" video if you want. It's not new but still pretty funny and R or PG-13 rated I guess.
  10. Still would like to see the entire last 6.2 seconds. I think (not 100% sure) Cannon called timeout with 6.2 seconds left after Central made 1 of 2 from the free throw line (missed first, made second) and set the play up. If you're gonna analyze the heck out of this thing we may as well see the whole play and start the timer when the ball first touches a Cannon player's hand.
  11. Who or what position did they lose to injury? I always hate that for any player or team. I have no doubt that they are an excellent team.
  12. Are you serious or joking about CAK playing zone defense? I hope you're serious. Cannon will press as long as it is effective. Also Cannon has a good bench. This will be Cannon's 11th trip to the state tournament I believe, the last time being 2 years ago.
  13. Actually looks pretty balanced to me. No easy half bracket.
  14. Since Cannon mostly shoots 3's the big girl won't affect Cannon's inside game that much, lol. If I were Cannon I would go after their guards hard with the press when CAK has the ball in an attempt to keep CAK from playing a half court game where the big girl could do some damage.
  15. Really need about 5 seconds added to the front end of the video to be able to tell. Legitimate question though. It was a quick 6 seconds.
  16. Teams in the same region cannot be on the same side of the bracket.
  17. LOL, just posted this in another thread for you but will do it here too.. Cannon County (28-6) watched a 13-point third-quarter lead dwindle away as McMinn Central guard Sidni Williams scored 12 of her 16 points in the final 8:12. Her drive gave the Chargerettes their first lead since the second quarter at 53-51, but Jakes' second 3-pointer with 2:13 remaining put the Lionettes back on top. Kelsey Young had a putback with 1:00 remaining to put McMinn Central back on top by a point, but she and Williams missed three free throws in the final minute. Williams hit one of two free throws with 6.2 seconds to go, after which Dodgen called a timeout and set up a play. The ball was inbounded to Sissom, who worked the ball up court to Jakes, whose 3 point shot rattled in.

  19. Cannon hit 10 treys and McMinn hit 2. McMinn was only 10 of 24 from the free throw line.
  20. I'm 100% sure the girl who made the shot was not looking at the clock when the ball left her hand. I don't really think she knew if it counted or not until she looked at the ref but did have some doubt in her mind as anyone would. Video replay is cost prohibitive at the high school level and you might have to add another official but it may be feasible to put red lights on the back boards like in college. Heck, maybe we should put in a shot clock too. If I'm a ref calling a game where someone makes an amazing shot at the buzzer that is this close I would probably give them the benefit of the doubt and call it good. That being said, frame by frame analysis suggests the shot was 0.2 seconds late but who can fault a ref for missing that?
  21. Good points. I couldn't tell watching it in real time and had to watch it frame by frame and it may be 0.1 seconds late but no human can call it that close with 100% confidence. Someone mentioned the girl who made the shot knew it was late. I'm pretty sure she wasn't looking at the clock when the ball left her hand.
  22. Not sure. I stopped listening to it at the end to keep from having a heart attack.
