  1. Congrats to Whitehaven. Played a great game and did what they needed to win, in spite of a terrible start. Running back is the real deal. My only question is why they didn't use him more in the 1st half. Also was impressed with the OLine, as good as the back was he had some holes to hit. Officiating is what it is and part of the game. It does seem like they make some horrible calls in these big games, but if you look back on your season you could probably pick out bad calls in evry game. Finally, and unfortunately, Maryville is young. This was the year to beat them, and they made it to the title game. I would expect to see them again Congrats to Whitehaven
  2. The Toppers didn't stop TH last night, and have had difficulty stopping anyone. Their only chance is to outscore the Tribe and the Tribe to give them some breaks; turnovers, penalties, a complete breakdown in coaching. Toppers have talented players but defensively are very suspect!!!
  3. Sorry to hear about the loss, We tend to think how important our games are until something like this brings us back to reality. Thoughts and Prayers to family and friends
  4. You are totally correct about fan support. This should be a game people are excited about, but its usually like sitting in a Library. Not sure I agree with the game going Souths way. They scored on an interception return and kickoff return. Never really felt threatened by their offense. Felt like we totally dominated the line of scrimmage. I agree #10 is an excellent player and you should get #15 the ball, but not alot of time to to get a pass off. Regardless this is a Big Win for the HILL and hope you Rebels finish strong.
  5. Is there that little interest in this game? Are both teams afraid to say anything? I think its time for the Toppers to make a statement. Anybody out there??
  6. I think this will be a good game,if the Toppers can put some points on the board. All the scrimmage talk is useless. I don't think you can judge Gville by either performance, Coaches use scrimmages for their own purposes and trying to figure out who has what based on a scrimmage is a waste of time. A more accurate way is to look at what a team has coming back. Science Hill has a lot of experience returning, but probably not as much as Greeneville. Greeneville lost some talent, but appears to have reloaded. I'd like to say it's a tossup, but common sense tells me Greeneville at home is tough.
  7. Hope it's a good game. I think if the Toppers can score 3 times they have a chance. The key is finishing the drive. They moved the ball well in their scrimmages but tended to bog down, (probably because they were running a very limited offense). Defense has been pretty good, but they tend to open themselves up to big plays. If they can keep the big plays from happening they should be able to play with anyone.
  8. Not sure what you all know about GVille, but they only lost 6 or 7 players. They were very talented players they lost, but their defense will be state Champ calibur, and they have some skill guys returning. I'm optimistic about the Toppers this year, but not sure they will have it all together for this matchup. Hope they do!!!! Go TOPPERS
  9. Everybody was saying that Science Hill had the athletes this year and would compete for the Big 8 championship with Carter in charge. By mid season they were saying "give him three years". Nobody was saying SHHS would compete for the big 8 last year. Consensus is it will take some time to change the mindset at Science Hill. Carter is on the right track. Sounds like you are a littlle worried??
  10. Cannon is very impressive, as is Seabolt. Both had very good games. Overall the TN team was WAY better than the VA squad. The Greeneville boys showed why they won the state. Carmichael was very impressive, but the Story kid might be the best of the 3 (Carmichael, Spradlin, & Story). As a topper fan, glad to see Cannon and Seabolt gone. Hope SHHS can bring back the rivalry next year.
  11. Wow... not sure if the Toppers can handle Piggy Wiggy. Science Hill is a team that needs a BIG WIN. They have improved under Coach Carter, and like most are saying, will improve each year, but this group does have some talent and are due for some breaks. It would be a HUGE upset but would love to come out of Maryville with a win. Please tell me Piggy Wiggy will be the halftime show!!!
  12. It sounds like the Hill will need to shut down the ground game. Defense has been solid against the pass, but looks like the front will need to step up tonight. Last year West pounded us up front. This year we are using more of a rotation and should be strong in the 4th quarter. Big Ben, Bigcat, Miles, Fridge, and others will need big games. LBs have been solid, Payne & Higgins will continue to get to the ball. The secondary has been much better than what they showed in the preseason. Coverage is tight and they like to hit. Offense just needs to be consistent, avoid turnovers, and get the ball to playmakers, Adams, both, Mitchell, and Aaron (Catch the ball and THEN FIND) Green. Snyder has been solid and needs to continue running the offense and not trying to do too much. For Science Hill fans, the turnaround in attitude has been the most significant thing that has happended. This years team plays to win and they play together. Fans are cautiously optimistic, and feel success is around the corner. It will take a few years for all the kids to buy in, but this team will be strong in coming years. Opponents better get us now, because it won't get any easier down the road.
  13. I've heard 3 names for the posiiton. Carter, Turner, and Overbay. Also that there is growing interest to hire from within (Overbay). Who is the frontrunner??
