  1. Couldn't agree more. Whitwell and Cornersville are both experiencing unprecedented success the past couple of seasons, and it's a shame that they have to face each other to find out who's foot fits the glass slipper. That being said, I have to pull hard for the Dawgs... ol' CB10 and Sum1uno have been behind their team through the lean times, and you gotta' respect that. Here's to small town football at it's best... hoping for an injury free, close, hard hitting game, and a gold trophy headed to Cornersville.
  2. He may be up at that Burnett mans jailhouse...ONB said something on another thread about sending that Ensley boy at Huntingdon a durn goat to see if he would play for GB next year. Do you no if Roy's goat has been got lately? Roy is going to be real mad if that muskox man and ONB has stole his goat again, and I ain't joking.
  3. Nope. You have the advantage of hindsight in your assessment of the game, and how it was lost. If GB was able to convert just one of three fourth down attempts and score, you would be praising the coach for believing in his team, and the courage to not settle for a field goal. Whitwell stopped all three attempts, and deserve the credit for doing so. Defense wins championships is the old adage, and whether it translates into a championship or not, defense won the game for Whitwell. Despite all the praise (well earned) for their offense "coming through" when they had to...if they don't stonewall GB on the fourth downs, the last two miraculous drives don't matter. Football is a team game, and the coaches are an integral part of the team... GB didn't lose because of "stupid decisions" they lost because Whitwell did what they had to do on the field, when they had to do it, on both sides of the ball.
  4. Big Red not in a warm, fuzzy place right now...hearing USJ might have had some "visits" from several players up their way. None have approached SH that I'm aware of, but it could happen that some of the younger kids choose to come south, especially if we can hire another man like Coach Stroup to put the train back on the tracks. Feeling very good about our options right now, and I believe we can give our old adversaries some competition before long.
  5. That 16' team was a machine. Their defense would have made them a very good team with an average offense, and the offense could go 12 plays and score, or 80 yards in one play. I thought it was a shame for them to have to play Trez to go to Cookeville, and I'll leave that story alone. Eight years out of ten the 16' team would have brought gold back to Waverly.
  6. Mr. Tower man, will you ask Roy a question for me? I just spilled my hot cocoa on my keyboard (truth), and I need to no how to get the durn mess cleaned off. You think im joking but im not.
  7. Could be announced this week... Final interviews happening now.
  8. Good call... I don't think that they've ever lost two in a row in the playoffs, and I doubt if that happens this year either.
  9. No offense to you at all... sometimes newbies crack me up. Ask him his profession, and pay attention.
  10. Wallace Wade... Alabama and Duke...no way to like a man with ties to them two.
  11. That kid in the green could open a camp for defensive tackling skills and retire early.
  12. I did drop a lil' "clue" to blue hen ( giggle ) almost a week ago...just couldn't resist... you'd really have to know some history to "get it", if you want to dig it out. If anyone could, it would be you.
  13. Nah, not quite yet... won't be long though. We always try and allow the coaches to make any announcements at their own discretion. With social media, whomever he tells first, everyone will know within 3 minutes. Edit...just caught the goat thingy...you have been drinking!!! You trying to get Roy to come after me?
  14. Funny thing is, they were just "regular people" until the camera was around. Tommy and Eddie Gilbert, Moondogs, only Dundee was really a little bit "off"...lol!
  15. Got us one on the hook! You probably know him... at least a lil' bit.
  16. Jus' sayin'... the dude you're talkin to is a legend on the 'T. He's followed some high school football.
  17. Don't remember the commentator (maybe Don Merideth), but I remember the quote... "the only thing that the prevent defense does is prevent you from winning".
  18. Guess we'll see if it really is their year!!!
  19. Come on ST...you're killin' me... what happened???
  20. I've seen both in person multiple times...'16 was the better team. Offenses actually don't differ much, that '16 team could score with this years team, but worked at a slower pace. The defense in 16' was scary good. I have yet to see a team gang tackle like they did... no matter who got to the ball first, at least three or four defenders hit the ball carrier before he hit the ground. Having said that, this years defense is much better than their reputation.
  21. Dude on C'ville and Lake Co. thread throwin' a little shade... thought you'd wan't to reply.
