  1. Was going to let this one fade away with time because it doesn't really matter, but after a week... Not going to display the details on here, but I can tell you Reitz, that your sources failed you on this one. Some I know and some just rumors, but most of your info is off.
  2. The ad at the bottom of the screen won't go away usually, and if it does the "why this ad" script covers the same area. Maybe just me, but I'd much rather pay for the site than endure the pop-up's. Maybe connected, maybe not...it's been next to impossible to log on to the message boards for me for the past few days. Home page usually comes up as well as the scoreboard, but the message board won't load.
  3. Not me... I love Lake County! Typically take three or four 2 1/2 to 3 hour (one way) trips up there to just see the lake, take a pontoon tour, and for sure eat at Boyette's. Really don't understand the passion regarding this topic too...not a big deal either way, and I didn't intend to start a heated disagreement. I simply believe what I stated, and believe you (or anyone) has the right to your own opinion. I don't expect to change anyone's mind, and can tell you that you're probably not going to convince me to think otherwise...but I can tell you that it's not a monumental thing, at least to me it isn't.
  4. How about starting with favoritism, then add regional bias, sprinkle in a touch of corruption, and finish it off with a ton of media disparity and lack of familiarity from "voters". Any time that you involve human intervention, you invite corruption, politics, and unfairness. Odds are that a true blind draw doesn't put the two best teams in the championship game, but at least you know (could if broadcast) that it was not rigged. Want to see it now...ask these very posters to be honest, don't copy others' poll, and seed the 2AA tournament in your next post. Guarente'd you'll get three or four different #1 vs. #2 polls. GC, GP, McMinn, York, Loretto... who is your #1? Not directed at you maddams, just the logical place to say it.
  5. I've been privileged to know the identities of a few applicants over the years, and most express concern about their names being made public just for applying. Some don't feel comfortable about their current employer knowing, but by far the most of them are concerned that the kids on their current team find out. We've never hired one that didn't request that we allow them to have a team meeting before we made an announcement (that I'm aware of), and at that point it's a forgone conclusion that everyone knows soon...it's not about keeping a secret, it's about respecting the bond between the new coach and his/her former team. Not a big deal that we don't agree, just a difference of opinion.
  6. I think that you've got it right, but GC/Huntingdon could realistically go either way, with me giving the Lady Pioneers the nod from experience alone. McMinn/York could be a barn burner too... McMinn should be more talented across the entire lineup, but if York can somehow get the lead late the door could be slammed shut by the point guard. Can't take it from her, and she's money at the stripe. Pittman should just be too good for Smith County, even though they're pretty stout themselves. Loretto is too much for Haskins to overcome with backcourt play. Westview's bigs aren't bad, but they live and die with their guards slashing and shooting threes...stop them and they're still going to score some, but not enough to keep up. Best game? I'll take GC/Fillies slightly over McMinn/York Most likely to be 10+... have to go Loretto over the 'View, but they've got to clamp down on the guards. GP could get up on Smith, but I know less about Smith than any of the rest... just know that GP has both the talent and experience to potentially win it all... but then again, so do just about all of the others.
  7. Lexington/Milan... lots of respect between the two, but a lot of competitiveness too. Goes back to the Jim vs. John days... I see that you know the deal.
  8. Not even the same. In high school if you lose in the finals you're done, lose in the semi final game and your done, lose in the quarterfinal game and your done, lose in sectionals and your done. Top two in regionals advance, top four in district advance, and district placement in regular season determines seeding for District Tournament. In the NCAA the body of work is judged by a panel of voters to determine who's in and where they are seeded, with the exception of provisions for tournament champions being awarded an automatic spot in the top 68. Would you rather have a system based on performance or let a bunch of dudes with bias argue for tournament placement? Bet you'd squeal like a rat if a committee placed your team further down than you felt they deserved, or worse yet, if they didn't make the tournament at all and someone that they beat did.
  9. None taken...all in fun. Glad that you realize that it was simply a my opinion/your opinion thing and not an argument.
  10. OK, I tried... I didn't say that I'm solely right, or that I'm undermining your opinion, and very few people "know who I am" (not that it matters anyway). LOL... it's time for my Geritol (look it up whipper snapper) and to put my teeth in their cup if I'm gonna get my nap out, so you can put the top back on your bottle and pass out now... nighty night now.
  11. Don't anoint anyone just yet...same bracket in boys 1A a few years ago with most everyone picking Booker T. Washington going in. Lake County upset them 1'st round, then Perry County beats Lake to get to the championship game and everyone thinks since all the favorites were in the same side of the bracket that PC has it in the bag. You've probably already guessed that PC brought home the silver ball that year, but the real point is that not one or two, but every game on that side of the bracket was a big upset. That's why they play the games, and why so many love sports...it ain't over 'till it's over!
  12. How about this... you do you and I'll do me, and we'll both be fine in thinking we are right. Not that you need it at all, but you have my blessing to believe that my opinion is stupid and self centered if you wish, and by all means if you believe that something needs put out there for public scrutiny, shout it from the rooftops and I'll gladly read it.
  13. What tradertwo nose bestest is that Booger nose both TSSAA and the alphabet schools' modus operandi better'n most, and that lotsa' these T'er folks time would be much more better spent iffin they'd concentrate on pickin up what Booger's layin down rather'n arguin aginst it.
  14. No need to be semi hostile about it, I said that it was just my opinion and that you were as entitled to yours as I am to mine. It's not a secret, and most all the information will be out there sooner or later, but as I said already... I don't feel entitled to tell everything that I know in order to stroke my ego or appear as if I'm in the know. As far as I know, when a public school hires an employee it's considered to be open to public domain, and everyone has the right to know... that's not my point. My opinion is not concerning the right of people to know who is involved, it's more to do with respecting other's right to decide how and when they make it known. Example Lexington hires Derek Carr to become the next HC of the Tigers. The deal is done hours before Milan and McKenzie scrimmage, but everyone involved respects Coach Carr's right to decide when and where to tell his team that he's leaving. The two teams scrimmage, then Carr gathers his team and reads a very well composed speech thanking the kids, parents, and administration at Milan. Classy move on his part, but what if (hypothetically) I'm privy to this deal and decide that it makes me look like a big shot if I beat everyone to the punch and break the news on coachT?
  15. Gotta pick Loretto to advance. CC has a shot, but will have to be almost perfect. Westview is very well coached, but their offense is too backcourt oriented... stifle the two guards and the rest will struggle against Loretto's length and size.
  16. Projected high seeds aren't left out of the field of 68 if they don't win their conference tournament, but mid major teams can win theirs and make it to the big dance. You obviously have some kind of axe to grind and are twisting facts to try and support your narrative. Nothing in life will satisfy everyone, but the progressive system in place that rewards past achievements with future positioning is as good as it gets. The only "bad" part of TSSAA's system happens when that system of reward for past wins is interrupted and the blind draw for placement in the final eight takes place... more often than not the two best teams don't play for the gold & silver balls, but for the right to advance. Hard to argue that the best team didn't get the gold, but very often second best doesn't get the silver.
  17. Just a difference in perspective. It's not a question of "who knows" for me, it's the viewpoint that I'm not entitled to display other folks' business on social media, or to make their private affairs public without their consent. Should be their choice, but hey, that's just my own opinion... you are as entitled to yours as I am to mine.
  18. SMH... hope that everyone is cool with their names being made public.
  19. Pay no attention to that nut, he doesn't know what's going on and I guarantee it... does anyone want to bet me? He'll probably respond with some of his usual garbage, but I won't see it because I blocked his silly mess about 3 months ago, and I guarantee you that I did. Not trying to play the blame game at all, but when you have a pool of really good applicants you get on the stick and nail down your guy, or mess around and let folks get nervous. If option #1 isn't doable you get to #2 and get it done. This could have been over already if the details didn't matter and the main focus was just getting the best guy that you can afford.
  20. Exactly right! Every great coach had a first job, and probably people who thought it was certain that they would fail. When Frost was hired at Riverside he had already been a head coach but had a terrible record, plenty of posters on here mocking the hire, and fans in Decatur County sick to their stomach's that they "didn't hire a better coach"... look at how that worked out!
  21. Sounds as if you already know who and why the last applicant chose to go elsewhere, and it wouldn't be proper for me to disclose the identity of the new prospective coach. Maybe it's just me, but I believe that it would be his prerogative to choose when and to whom he makes the public aware. In the current era of instantaneous information there's no option of meeting with your old team, then making an "official" announcement... as soon as one person knows, everyone will know within minutes, and there's always the "I don't want my current employer to know" aspect.
  22. Dozens of them... none are accurate though. Interviews were completed and an offer was made but turned down. Seems someone else made him an offer that he couldn't refuse at the 11'th hour. Committee is working toward reaching an agreement with another HC that showed interest early on but pulled back...may have to sweeten the pot a bit more.
  23. You guys should come over to the western side of the state... bet they're every bit as horrible, but nobody's fouling out! Rough play to the extent that fans get chippy and play gets sloppy. Plain and simple, basketball talent is negated by very physical play that gets worse as the game goes on with no (very few) calls. Shooting fouls are still called, but hand checking with both hands isn't... charge/block fouls may or may not be decided by a coin flip at the rate that they get them wrong both ways, and moving screens, grabbing cutting players, and this "euro step" garbage allowing three steps on a shot attempt is awful. Worse even than all that, the NFL has nothing on some of these high school kids when there's a loose ball on the floor.
