CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP: UNION CITY VS. COALFIELD
TheDieHardFan replied to JDOGG80's topic in Class 1A & Class 2A
Very excited the alma mater finally made it to the big game. Couldn't be happier for the community, Coach Henry, my cousin #55, and all the other Jackets. That being said, UC is FAST and TOUGH. I fear a mercy rule game. I'll say 48-8 UC final, but I could care less about the final score. Just to make it here is awesome. -
Greene outgained Bible 93-66. Harriman D held CF to 200 yds. Total offense. Both fans were mad at the refs afterwards. All in all? Hard fought game. Last time these 2 played was a 42-41 shootout that came down to the final play. This game was the complete opposite. Hate to see either team lose. Both squads gave their all.

Langley got screwed in that deal. The new staff at the MoCo News does NOT care about the people of MoCo. I know for a fact they could have gotten an in-county hire... and didn't even interview him. Personally, I hope Brian blows the MoCo News out of the water.

Key to the game for the Devils will be stopping Drake Long, or at least holding him under a hundred yards. If the Devils do that, they have a real chance to steal one. This is a game where you throw all assumptions out the window and it comes down to who has the most heart. Expect this to be a smash-mouth, knock-down, drag-out game. Prediction Rockwood, 28 - Harriman, 20

Oneida, 49 - Wartburg Central, 0 This is a very good Indians squad... against a comically bad Bulldog squad.

ROCKWOOD TIGERS / HARRIMAN BLUE DEVILS
TheDieHardFan replied to baseball100's topic in Class 1A & Class 2A
I think Meigs could potentially get a few more wins than last year, but I think a playoff run is still a year or two away. As for Tellico Plains, I think they are gonna be in a bit of second-year slump under Mullinax. Right now I have them and Midway as borderline playoff teams. TP could surprise people again, though. I sure didn't expect them to make the post-season last year. Greenback should still be pretty solid, and the only team in the district that I know would beat them is Grace. Rockwood COULD go either way against the 'Kees. For the record, I always love driving to Greenback to cover football. Great people there and a beautiful drive down 95. -

Rockwood will lose to Grace and Greenback. Harriman will lose to Rockwood, Grace, Greenback, and Sunbright. -

Rockwood should go 8-2. Harriman should be a playoff contender. 6-4 is my guess. -
Who would Ya'll pick for Preseason 1A top 10?
TheDieHardFan replied to BigDave1967's topic in Class 1A & Class 2A
Union City is gonna be the team to beat once again. As for Coalfield I think they are a top ten team but not in the top five. A small line and a freshman QB will be hard to overcome. -
How in the world does Christina Neal from Kingston NOT get on an All-State team?

Can someone associated with the Midway Holiday Classic tell me the schedule for the tournament and what dates & times Midway plays on? I'm covering it for the local paper and don't have really any contact info for anybody associated with Midway as usually I seldom ever get sent there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not 100% sure on that. Don't hold me to it, but I think the sitting out a year without changing addresses rules only applies if you played sports the previous year.
-
One of the parents on the team told me they had a transfer student from Lenoir City and I was just curious as to whether she could just give them some depth because the Lady Jackets could use some depth since they lost 4 seniors (All of which started or had decent playing time). No need to be condescending. I highly doubt she's the answer to Kingston's prayers, but it would be nice to know if she can give Kingston some depth, which probably is their biggest issue this year.

I heard from a reliable source Kingston got a transfer student from LC this year... can someone give me some info here?

How are the roane county teams looking?

Anybody heard anything on Midway at all? -
Oh, I wasn't aware of that rule...

Why Voyles didn't get this gig AT LEAST two years ago, I will never know...

Well, aren't YOU the brightest bulb in the box? Let's look at the schedule from an unbiased viewpoint. North Greene should be a victory, if not, something is seriously wrong. Whitwell will be close but I think they pull out a close win over Sunbright. (1-1) You are going to really struggle against Coalfield, especially at "The Jackets Nest" (1-2) Jellico... see North Greene. (2-2) Red Boiling Springs... they gave you all a game last year and they're not as bad as they were for years... but I think you get a close win. (3-2) King's Academy PROBABLY is a win (4-2) Oakdale... gonna be closer than in past years, but still probably a victory. (5-2) OS... if the field is dry, OS wins by at least 2 touchdowns. If not, you have a chance, but I'm gonna mark it as a loss for now. (5-3) Oneida is just too talented, so... (5-4) Wartburg, while not spectacular, should beat you all. (5-5) As for the play-offs, I'll say you get to the second round, so probably 6-6.
-
I wasn't "running my mouth", I just answered another poster's question. And I think it's early to say the state title runs through Sunbright... the teams in Middle and West Tennessee, at least on the 1-A and 2-A side are better than the East Tennessee teams, whether you want to admit it or not.
-
They got their first ever play-off win against Cloudland last season.
-
Kingston should challenge CAK again for the title in that District. I know they have a new coach though so that could be interesting...
-
Is Stephens still coach for Sunbright? I'll say THIS on Sunbright... they really should have beat OS, and I hate to say that. They just gave OS all they could handle and the 'Cats had to earn that win. Sunbright could be a surprise this year. Them and Coalfield both probably will have the horses to beat in that conference in 1A.

From what I've been told, Guinn will be head coach and Guillimet will still be assistant coach. I think the Lady Jackets have the talent there to make a run at a Region tournament spot in that district. The big question is gonna be how do they bounce back from losing 4 seniors?
