  1. Except for badly misspelling Marion County I thought that was a good post. Nohope says to Travis and the Pirates for their efforts last night. No quit under extremely tough conditions. Congrats to BB and their fans for a big win. Beating the Pirates is an accomplishment few teams get to experience each season.
  2. Possum, some of the early MC posters were probably a little over the top, but this team has a lot more potential than their present results show. I still maintain the SP game wasn't a fluke; MC played well and had something to do with most of the Pirates problems. Things began falling apart after that game. Injuries and maybe some attitudes have hurt the Warriors this season but not nearly as much as the players are hurting themselves. TTP is right, leadership just seems lacking right now. Coaching is there; with the season dwindling away fast I'm betting those Warriors will get things clicking, take care of business each game, and turn in another good showing in the playoffs. The season is still in their hands if they want it badly enough.
  3. Jonathan Blevins, when the Pirates win that Gold Football I hope you're holding it in the center of the team picture. No one deserves it more than you. Nohope says Nothing surprising about tonight's final score.
  4. Congrats on a good win over Grundy last night Warriors. Nick Wells must still be injured; didn't see his name in the NFP stats this morning.
  5. Congrats to the Pirates on this win. I agree with several posters. Penalities and the one bad snap kept this game closer than it could have been. SM has a good football team but nowhere near the #2 2A ranking they had before this game. I won't knock the announcer for his enthusiam. Anybody who gets that excited when the ball is spotted after a punt or kickoff return obviously loves his job. FIRST DOWN EAGLESSSSSSSS.......Anyway, welcome to the district, or region, or whatever our teams are in now Signal. You'll never learn to like it but might as well get used to what happend last night. Its the norm.
  6. Bells............If that don't date you, nothing does. Pirates win, but SM will put enough pressure on their offense to make it close........for awhile.
  7. I agree OP. Marion will win this game easily so long as they hold onto the football. Many SP fans blamed the Pirates low scoring on poor execution; I believe it was mainly due to good defense by the Warrior team. Marion wins.
  8. Roy, I have to wonder, are you a "Living Legend". South Pittsburg wins this game. If SM's defense can pressure Terrell it might stay close for awhile.
  9. All this talk about a football game....Go figure. I believe old ZonePirate come closest to what will happen tonight, linemen will determine the outcome. One thing I am absolutely sure of, Marion will not come out thinking about anything less than winning. They'll be well prepared and ready for this game tonight. It goes without saying that the Pirates will be also. Good luck to both teams, hope the fans behave themselves, and because I've followed these players from Middle School on, go MARION. Good luck to David in the coming years Bossbro.
  10. TTP and Old Pirate have these football theads farred up lately; not altogether a bad thing. Last year is simple, Marion advanced as far as they possibly could have, barring Devine intervention. Alcoa was clearly better than anyone in 2A. The Pirates, burdened with some unnecessary internal problems, likely didn't produce their best TEAM effort and narrowly lost to the eventual 1A state champion. Take away the distractions and another Gold Ball might have been sitting in a Marion County (couldn't resist that) school trophy case. One team will always be remembered for reaching (exceeding) their potential, while the other team won't. That's the legacies of last years teams. Now, about that early season "earholing".................Nope........I'd have to get into "laying down" to go there.
  11. Here's one.....Marion 7 - BOYD 6. Its the single most important one concerning that particular game.
  12. /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" /> Congrats on the win over a solid CCS team. Looking forward to the games next week. If the current trend continues much longer at Marion yall might get a sweep. The Warrior players will be too d###ed tired to play. /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />
  13. I don't think it was quite that many......did lose a lot though. The players that remain are working hard; plenty of opportunities this year for players to step up and perform. Who knows....some more unexpected help may show up yet, and a few players that haven't gotten a lot of field time in past years just may surprise some folks. I do agree that Sequatchie should be strong this year; Hixson, CCS and Notre Dame as well. Marion won't just roll over though, no matter how many players graduated. Pitching and defense are the keys......ain't they always.
  14. Well said MCRoadWarrior. My first visit to the Pitt; couldn't have asked for a better game. Gotta admire all players from both teams for their efforts tonight. I thought both teams played well start to finish. I did feel a little sorry for Cody; seemed he was getting knocked around pretty good all night with few calls to show for it. The Warrior's No. 1 fan got so disgusted about the lack of calls he left just before the game turned in Marion's favor. Pity, the ref he was disgusted with should have been the one to leave. Other than that little distraction tonight was well worth the admission. An earlier poster commented.....sarcastically......that everyone was holding their breath to see the rematch between these two teams. I think he was right. I got there late and had to park in the graveyard up the street. Looked like a Friday night football game outside the gym. Thanks to players and coaches on both teams for an entertaining game. The gym is impressive.
  15. OP, Nohope wonders, are you going to be at this game Monday night (it is being played Monday, right)? None of those skillet attack excuses either; we could all use that one........I'm looking forward to the next matchup at SP....Past time for me to see the new Gym in person. Both these teams just leave me a little confused. All this talk about coaching; I think what both teams really need is a PLAYER to step forward and just take charge........tell everyone to play together, all out, all the time, or find something else to do. Looking forward to a great game. Warriors win. Swede, Z went 2-0 against his Grundy pals; just thought I'd point that out.......no pressure. Good luck.
  16. I heard from an unimpeachable source that he definitely WILL play baseball this season. The SWEDE is BACK. Two no hitters in four high school appearances..........Pity the poor batters. Fastballs and wicked curves from 12 O'clock HIGH. Whoa Kelly.......make that Nelly.................. Come on Hoop. Last chance for him to play competitively in any sport with Zeph and company. That right there should be enough to shove him toward the diamond. D-1 basketball is a lock. Pressue is off. Plenty of headlines to be made in baseball too. He needs to play; would be a hugh benefit to the Marion baseball team.
  17. Hoopitup10, that kid has no future in Basketball. Stripe them skinny legs and point him toward a baseball diamond somewhere.........Throw some water on him Kelly, he probably just swallowed his tongue...... Just kidding hoop. Cody dunks was all that kept Marion from being blown out early in the game. I don't know much about this roundball game but it just seemed to me both teams (fans too) lacked the normal fire and intensity I've came to expect from Grundy/Marion matchups. Grundy played their usual disiplined, pass it around and take the open shot type game. Zeph had two Grundy players stuck like flypaper to him whenever he touched the ball. Both teams had good runs; fortunately Marions came at just the right moment, last three minutes of the game. Shame that the Cody steal/dunk play didn't count in the last few seconds. Would have sealed a win and been a spectacular way for this game to have ended. Good luck to Marion. Jack up the effort, play team ball and make some noise in the coming weeks. Gumby, nice move to put your team ahead late.........McL, WHAT was that? Just too funny.
  18. Didn't Marion play Hixson last Thursday night without Henegar? If he can't play and a valid reason exists to cancel a game, I'd go for the cancellation, especially if he's due back quickly. He's obviously a huge part of Marion's game. Why play without him if you could reschedule for later and have him available. More importantly, is that little guy going to play baseball? I'd sure like to see him pitch again.
  19. Its the price posters/readers sometimes have to pay to control a few rogue posters who haunt Marion threads. Maybe they'll get the point no one is really interested in their opinions.............probably not. Congrats to the MC Warriors.
  20. Well............. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Agreed.
  21. Thats what I kept trying to say all last season. One or two man teams can win a few regular season games but not much else. Cody's improvement over last season is impressive, fun to watch and definitely the heartbeat of the Warriors. Zehpan is still Z, just older and...... better (thats scary). Corpeio, Hargis, Bailey (when healthy), Casseday and Mr McL together should continue MC's steady improvement this year. Some lukewarm fan who hardly ever makes a game (litle humor there) said last night he sees a possible third place Region finish for this team. I believe they could do much better, especially if everyone stays healthy. McL, you need to square up and shoot more often. You make those 3's look easy. Good luck this season guys. I agree with an earlier poster. This game was much closer through three quarters than the final indicates. The Indians have a solid BB team; they will be tough to beat as the season continues, especially at home.
  22. As far as I'm concerned, that statement about sums this game up as succiently as possible. Ya'lls rocks were bigger than ours.........a lot bigger. Marion players know how I feel about them and the effort they gave tonight; telling Alcoa good luck is a waste of bytes. They don't need it. Thanks to both teams for the show tonight. I saw the bridge. You misspelled Marion.
  23. Weak, I know, but I'm helpless in these pictue wars...........Marion Wins.
  24. What the Hey............ /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" /> I don't care...........Marion still wins.
  25. Well alright!!! Some competition from Marion supporters in the pictue war. I said it'd be hard to use a tornado in a picture war MCRW, looks like you nailed it. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Alcoa, the War Party starts forming tomorrow morning. See everyone there. Warriors Win.
