  1. I've been drinkin some of the green Kool-aid, so here is my prediction: greenvil - 126 fulton - 6 Although fulton will score late against the managers that greenvil's coaches put on the field in the final minutes, greenvil will score early, late, and often. 18 different players will score including both the captain and the youngest freshman on the cheerleading squad. The team is so good the coaches can't control how many points they score. Of course, noone should dare say anything about 63 points in each half being too many. They are simply getting ready for their victim next week. Before the game is even over, the greenvil ad will be getting calls of teams dropping them from their schedule next year. Nobody can compete with the machine that is the greenvil ...uh...uh...greenvil...uh...uh...whatever they are...oops!
  2. After watching those game films and gettin my goggles off, it likely won't be 77-7. The smokin bears look awfully good. I think I even saw 4 verticals in that film. It may be a game worth the $40 for my whole family to attend.
  3. Well said there rock. Maybe greenvul's coaches were being respectful as they scored 63 in the 1st half. They are the only ones who really know. Its been a while, but every football team I ever played on had at least 1-2 last string rb's or offensive guards who were not very athletic and only got to play in the worst beatdowns. Usually, the rest of the team cheered for these guys to perform in the game. The team always knows who these guys are. These would be great times to let some of these kids run the ball or catch the ball. In other words, if your 3rd team rb is going to make it 63, why not let that last string guard run a dive play? Maybe greenvul did that last night. If you are so good that you can't help but score 63 in one half, I suggest you dress some freshmen and let them play when you get up by 40. There are plenty of ways not to score 77 in a game without mocking the game/taking 3 straight knees. Act like you've been there before and be respectful of the young men on the other team.
  4. Early (beer-goggled) prediction: Murvil - 77 Smokin Bears - 7 Bears score late.
  5. 77 points is too many for any coach to score. It's hard to believe that a team is soooo good they can't help but score 77. Wow, that's really impressive. A couple of more td's could have got them to 91. That might have put somebody in the record books. Was there not anybody on that team that the coach could hand the ball to to keep it under 60? Are all the players that good? We should all try to remember the sportsmanship we were taught when we were 10 years old.
  6. Smallest crowd I have seen in a long while at murvil tonight. Coincidence? Maybe everyone stayed home to watch Cuonzo!
  7. No, I think he has been at the high school for a while. You have made a good choice there nation. But you better hurry before the new coach at hairtage starts making the calls. This may be the biggest shakeup in blount county football in a long time, and wb will not even be involved!
  8. Wow. That's pretty good for a non-murvil team. Nation - we have alot of speculation on coacht about the next coach at hairtage. What's going to happen at your school when the season comes to a close a week or two too early. After the Tony Jones hire, I think you guys should make a run at Fulmer. I suspect Sanders may be coming back from Ky after this year. He obviously knows the way to alcoa.
  9. Bullydog, you probably need to make sure you got some gas in the tank and go ahead and get the grill fired up again. You guys may have some awesome teams this year - I haven't seen you. But murvil has been rebuilding the last couple of years for this year. They are very good. No, they are not unbeatable, but you better be able to control the ball on offense while putting up some serious points, win the turnover battle by +2, and be able to stop both the run and the pass. Is there anybody in 7-AAA that can line up and run the ball without those drive killing negative plays (i.e. turnovers, fumbles, penalties, etc)? If so, they will have the best chance - JMO.
  10. No doubt stars. Ms...uh...dr. ferguson is still there. Imagine what that class is like now! She's got to be approaching 50 by now - assuming she was 18 when I had her! It's really no wonder we are so successful. Mr. Smith, Mr. Humphrey, and Mrs. Bolden provided the basis for my understanding of both math and science. I wouldn't even be able to use these two fingers to type this message if it wasn't for sweet Burle Sadler...
  11. I've heard both an assistant line coach from murvil and an offensive coach from fairgut are supposed to interview once their season ends. I have no idea if it's true, but thats what I'm hearing. I hope they get somebody good for their program.
  12. I hope it's not true, but I have heard some of that talk before. The few 7th graders I am familiar with play multiple sports. The competitiveness to get on our football field and the lack of attention paid to other sports may have some of those parents talking. That's not surprising. I am not sure how good the kids really are anyway. After the spankin your "best of all time" middle schoolers gave us, maybe we could make a trade with you guys. We may have to add in some players to be named later. Weaklink is closer to that situation and may know something. Weak?
  13. Solly, you must have had the same type of officials then as we do now around here. Maybe wilcox can implement that on the hill before we face vandy. Surely we can be better with 3+5+4=12. I forgot, we tried something similar last year against LSU on the last play. I think it was a 7-3-4 defense.
  14. One of my favorite points there jake - jim's and joe's not X's and O's. I bet even old Coach Dooley would agree with me on that one! Jake, what happened on that pass interference play? I know it wasn't you who threw the flag, but what was that guy thinking. The folks in the stands were wanting a video for youtube. They said it was the first time they had seen the ref in the white hat (behind the offense) throw a pass interference flag 30 yards downfield. And to beat all, it looked like he called it the wrong way!
  15. I heard the lil rebs stud qb and rb/lb were going to alcoa. Any chance they change there mind? If not, how about the raiders qb? Heard he was destined for either wb or cak. Any chance we can get him in our pipeline? I saw the 2 teams play earlier in the year and he can flat throw it. I'm surprised any kid named young is going to murvil. I've known that kids uncles since I was a kid. They are great guys but a bunch of old everett grads who usually root for whoever murvil is playing! I guess that's another old blount county tradition. LOL! Good news about the other raider kids - especially that rb - he dominated the game I saw. Saw the pictures in the paper from last saturday. It looks like hairtage's field got tore up again. With all the appreciation being spread on this thread, let me be the first to give hairtage a big "thank you" for giving the kids a place to play. Most facilities would have canceled the games, and who could blame them. Maybe we could let them have one of the kids from the pipeline for all their trouble. Second thought, maybe not.
  16. Absolutely grey, well said. Those guys are amazing with all their dedication and wins over the years. I want to give a big 'Thank you' as well. When you think about it, they don't even have that great of talent - the kids are still spread out to various other teams. They don't really all get together until they get to dear old murvil high. Sounds like the raiders have some good players. Anybody know how many of their kids are in which pipelines? How bout the rebs? You better stay away from those kids nation!
  17. I hope they make a good pick and get it turned around. I would love to go watch more games out there - make that competitive games. Probably the best hs setting to watch football in october.
  18. Keep in mind there weak that middle school does not have classifications - at least not like the high schools. The current coach at mms has won many games and many championships. He does not have the luxury of alcoa going to a different classification to play for their championship. Often, he must beat them twice. Before anyone thinks I am dissing the hs coach, settle down. I am not. No doubt, the hs coach has won some games (BIG games) when he had less jimmy's and joe's. That is what is really so impressive about him to me. (Well that and I don't have a clue what play he is running next!) The other 95% of the games we should win given our talent, the great help he has coaching, etc, etc. IMO - I don't know, but I bet the mms coach has won some games with a little less talent. So back off the coach a little there weak. Surely he does things that I don't agree with. I don't know if that makes him right or wrong. He cares enough about it to spend a huge amount of his time shaping 12, 13, 14, and evidently some 15 year olds. He doesn't have to and it could be alot worse. Just look around town. Evidently, he is doing a few things right in preparing the kids for high school. Like nearly all youth coaches in our area, a simple thank you to him would be more appropriate - again IMO. Now, if my youngest kid doesn't get to play much for him in a couple of years...stay tuned! You can send me back this message. HA.
  19. Yep, I know RR. He's from a good family. Don't be too hard on nation. He knows how well respected our old ball coach was. He was just trying to set the hook on me. If I'm not mistaken, the old coach and nation are from the same side of town and may even know each other. The old coach IS a great man. I saw him recently. It was a real treat for me. Stars, you're exactly right on that 2 pt conversion that started the whole thing. Hairtage had a real good team that year. They had to come to Lawrence Avenue the next year with WAY too many sophomores playing. It got ugly in a hurry. For us back then, I think we may have set a pass attempts record for a game that night with 6 (all in the first half). We didn't/couldn't throw it much back then. I think we even pulled out our bag of tricks and went on 2! That's as tricky as we got! LOL!
  20. I absolutely love it. He could have done it without the cursing, but the point is great. I don't even know if the team deserved it, but most teams deserve and hear the "team first" speech at some point. Sadly, there are times when we all may need someone in our face...
  21. Thanks for the memory stars. That was during my time at mhs. They had went for 2 a year earlier or faked a fg with less than a minute left to score some needless points at the end of the game when they beat us. My old memory conveniently forgets the details. I do remember that our old ball coach sure didn't like it. It wasn't quite as planned as what you say, but it sure was convenient when our extra point kicker missed after one of those early td's the next year. He went to the bench and we kept going for 2. We received alot of flack for that final score. Do you remember it? I think it was 45-6. Even the daily times got involved in the finger pointing. After all these years, I am probably just jealous. We couldn't have scored 69 in 2 games combined!...Belly left, belly right! LOL!
  22. You got me there pep! Sometimes I am too old fashioned for my own good. Grey, although I need stars' math to get it exactly right, that's about 35-11 per game. That's ok by me.
