Thx. I am biased as I have watched those kids grow up and play and coach. They seem pretty good.

I’m going to split hairs here, but here is my take. If you have 11 good athletes and put them on defense, your defense is going to be pretty good, regardless of the scheme. (I’m trying to forget how we tried to run a 3-4) If you only have two or three on defense, they’re not gonna be very good. Offensively, I think you can get by with two or three athletes if you have the right scheme. Most of the CC teams I saw didn’t have many athletes on the field, yet their offense usually produced more points than most other teams. I will be anxious to see how they do especially being able to recruit some kids in.

Everyone that failed to hire the twins from CC missed out. Two great people who are excellent coaches.

Let the parents and families on the field. It’s a great way to get the extended family to buy into the program. The pictures after losses bother me too, but the game is over. Sometimes an old grade school friend or distant family member is on the other team and pictures are good. Other times, people don’t know how to act.

It will be interesting to see how big of an effect the time off from weather will have on the teams. A great time to get a hot hand with all the make up games coming up.

I’ve not heard much football talk from 825. That hoops team seems to have turned things around this year. Everybody gearing up for track.

Honestly not too concerned with wasting your time on a message board for Pete’s sake. You do act as though you know what was happening. I heard from the start that he was not accepted by many of the existing staff and players. I’m sure you realize how that can affect a team. I went up this year to watch a game. The bucs looked horrible. So bad in fact that there had to be a bigger reason than simply a bad head coach. With a school like ETSU that can’t recruit simply on name, I assume dissent in the coaching staff, or from part of the team who never bought in, would be extremely detrimental to bring in players who have options. But it all fits together and the HBC is responsible. There might be something to the White bros carrying the load at 825.

It was all in place for him. Everything a coach could possibly need. Everybody pulling in the same direction. Dang, he must stink as a football coach. The White brothers must have carried him for years. Yeah…let’s go with that. Who is all in?

Might…have been a little harsh. They do have some really good players. Coach should give other teams credit in public. Say whatever you want in the locker room.

What a terrible example he is for teenage athletes. SMH. From running out on the floor and creating a mess at fairgut to not giving your opponent credit in a big win at your place, he acts like an adolescent. It’s all about them. The good AD in LA should have already put an end to such representation.

I was surprised there wasn’t another fight. I guess it wasn’t close enough. Last two games I attended in LA had guys squaring off.

Good win by the red team. 20 for WB should touch it on every possession. Maybe they need two basketballs!

Only thing worse than 2 bad officials is three bad officials!

Dogs walked thru that first half and Murvil played well. Bearden could use the 6’6” kid that murvil only plays for 3-4 minutes.

Lots of good things happening in the LA athletic dept these days. Great job by the old football coach this year and the hothead basketball coach has his team competing for district and regional titles. I think that AD has developed the secret sauce. Hopefully, he will help get the baseball team going in the right direction.

Yikes! That is surprising. Credit to both teams for playing good competition to date.

It’s still strange to me why the previous staff didn’t try to develop the 6-9 kid earlier. Both he and his 6-6 classmate are kids that you are lucky to get in high school. An example of some coaches thinking their coaching is more important than the talent they have. The new staff has done a great job with the players they have. The game with WB will be a big hoops game in the county and district. Anybody recall the last time LA lost to Murvil in basketball? It seems like it has been lopsided for a while now.

I read most of that. From what little I know about it, I’m not a big fan though there is probably some good with it. I was wondering if it would free up some positions for the lil fellers. That would be good. Im still hoping the 3 wiser men will deliver the message.

I once had a coach who told us there was difference in being assaulted vs laying down naked on the street. Have we started stripping down?

It was good to hear kids and parents/fans positive comments about the program. Dang, it was long overdue. NOBODY likes to lose. The QB may have been the best player in the area and hard to replace. Or maybe not that hard?

It’s probably time to give that AD in LA some credit. Huge improvement in the direction of the football program finishing 2nd in the county and the boys hoops team is tops in the county with eyes on the state tourney. If they can get a little more out of the spring guys, it will be a complete 180. Congrats to that guy!

Even Saban decided to get in the game by bidding on players in the portal. Us old guys may not like it, but the earth ain’t flat. Gotta figure out the best way to roll with the changes. Startup costs ain’t going down.

Sounds like plenty of opportunities for improvement. It’s about time for some New Year’s resolutions!
