  1. I'm not sure what to take from this game. I personally think that Dresden comes in as a former runner up in the 2 A Finals and add that they are 5 - 0 right now, many outside of this area are voting them high simply on that.. They, ( Dresden ) are like Union City was when Union City played Huntingdon and found out real quick that they had not played anyone up until the Huntingdon game. By looking at Dresden wins, they really have not played much. Westview is down, really down. Dresden has 2 back to back tough games with Union City then West Carroll. I personally think Dresden will see more speed in the Union City team than they have seen all year. Should be a good game. Union City going into the game ranked 8th in the newest AP Single A pole, Dresden is going in ranked 2nd in class 2A. This will be a test for both school but Union City has more to gain in the poles in this game either way than what Dresden has to gain. I hate poles, they are just for the fans and media. Turnovers will be key and if Union City can play a game like they did in the second half of the Huntingdon game, even though they lost, Union City should win by 10 to 14 points. I have not seen Dresden yet. Good luck to both a d hope a clean and injury free game.
  2. If Union City can play like they did in the second half of the Huntingdon game, Union City should win by at least 2 T D's. Should be a very good game. This will be a very "KEY" game for Union City as it should help set the tone for the rest of the season. Go Tornadoes...........
  3. Yep...you're right. Many are ticked because of the gate. O C SHOULD be glad we aren't playing them...beat them in just about everything other than girls basketball right now year in and year out and our school ..Union City that is , is 1/3 rd the size of O C. About Jackson....what is so funny to me is...they have two or three different type uniforms they practice in before games and change to something different just before game time, they have a helment with smoke they run through and they also want turf and a big T V down at Troy. All of this for a program that at best has made the 1st round of the playoffs and if it wasn't for the 6 classifications now, they wouldn't have made what they have. Jackson has come in trying to run the Rebel program like a college and these are high schools kids playing high school football. It is all about the kids....all of the above cost tons of money...especially having two sets of helments to play and carry on the road which are $250 each X 2 X 70. That adds up. But last year, like it or not, Jackson still has NO Respect from any other western Tennessee high school. Coaches know enough of him to stay clear. That is why they have to get Mont. Central, Cape Central, Sikeston and some team from Miss to play them and of those 4, only one is still playing and won't after this year. Same reason U C quit as well. It is not the kids fault , they only do what they are told. Jackson has had a defensive Cordinator each year since he has been at Troy, what does that tell ya. They should get two wins this year, Gibson and Mont. Central. With his Senior Class coming back, many have not played because of last years SEnior Class and will take another year to catch up. Berners Senior year they should be decent. But YOU CAN'T WIN by THROWING the FOOTBALL 80% of the time. HYde will be good, if he stays at Troy...may or may not. How much did he get for transfering to O C from U C..no telling. That is a Jackson move. He will leave the program in shambles when he does leave, just wait and see. Win or loose, the kids practice hard and their coach reflects of the school. Jackson is Jackson and that you can tell, it is all about him. He would have left this year but couldn't find a job anywhere...that is a fact, true fact.
  4. And Milan didn't kick a single onside kick and played their second, 3rd and 4th strings with less than 7 minutes in the 1st quarter.
  5. What we mean....you will be a Gibson County from last year and Covington will be a Obion County from last year but much better. Covington is Covington and will take advantage of the lopsided night when they play O C. Covington will run through your region with ease. One of their assistant coaches said they remember all of the onside kicks against a helpless Gibson County last year. It is not the kids fault....the O C kids that is...they were told to do so. I'm sure that will be brought up in one of the articles this week somewhere.
  6. Very True.....you don't kick a dog while he is down and out. Hard to forget those kind of things and that nights game rang out across western tennessee like the Liberty bell rang again. Sometimes...paybacks are * * * * ! Many football fans remember that night very well, even many Rebel fans were embarassed to say the least....2nd or 3rd string. Maybe that was the time you should have practiced on the kicking game and not kicking the other over matched team deeper into the dirt. Don't worry though...Covington is down the road and they will remember also. This is why Coach jackson has NO respect in Western Tennessee. I have had many high school coaches and refs say over the summer...that dog don't hunt. Like it or not, O C Coach jackson was totally in the wrong on that game. Now it is this year and just maybe...paybacks comes as a suprise. I still say Obion wins Friday night. Just had to chime in on this one. Get mad at me or not..just stating the facts and what other brought up on here.
  7. Yes...looked and Montgomery Centrals schedule....the Central Rebels should have it anyway they want with them. Should go 2 - 8 for the season.
  8. This game will not help us at all. I wish we had Trenton this week. Huntingdon is seasoned early due to a tough early season schedule. Union City on the other hand can't help how the other teams are....beat the snot out of a last years 4A playoff team and the Class A winner from last year and neither are worth a dime. Union City will get better and when the playoff season rolls around, Union City should have been tested enough that should help them make it through several rounds of the playoffs. And for anyone who thinks they are as good as the 2009 team, they have a long way to go...yes, still early but they will get better each week.
  9. OCCHS Rebels gets win #1 against Gibson County. May be their only win of the season, with Dyersburg and Montgomery Central being their only other two shots and they are LONG shots. Have nopt heard anything about Mont. Central this year at all. The Rebels just don't seem to have any chemistry on Defense with just some on the offensive side of the ball. Many are gaining experience for next year. It happens to many teams , with Wayne County being one of them that I have seen so far this year. They finally won their first game of the year this past Friday night and may end up with one or two wins themselves and they are defending Class A State Champions.
  10. Good Luck Rebels in the Crocket County game Friday night. One question and maybe someone will know. Last year, the south end of the practice facility had a billboard size picture of all of the Seniors on the team. The last time I was through Troy a few days ago, there was no sign of this years Seniors. Why is last year any different than this year, you still have Seniors and they work just as hard as last years Seniors except they are now 0 - 3 and last year they were 3 - 0. Must be a coach Jackson thing and not proud of his kids this year. It's not right and should have never put that banner up last year, afterall, just one game and done in the playoffs. Don't get me started on being fair but that is NOT being fair. Just my opinion and I know the kids may be wondering the same thing.
  11. The Rebels are getting better each game but their toughest teams on this years schedule still await ( Crocket Co., South Gibson and Covington ). I look for the Rebels to fight hard and not give up as they go into each game but as they know, 0 - 3 is far different than what they were this time last year. For sure they have one win coming with Gibson County but I just feel that to many skilled players and a very very skilled coach has the Rebels on the loosing end this week with a 28 point loss. Just think this are getting tougher in the camp each day and Jackson is not being able to handle what is dealt to him right now in what to do to fix things. Good luck and will be pullin for the Red, Blue and White.
  12. Also, when you have 400 yards offense and you only score 21 points.....something doesn't mix very well. There are often times with many teams that they win on paper and not on the scoreboard, many. The Rebels do have to change. A team that passes more than they run will not advance far enough to make count. Running a football and clock management as well as a still defense will win you games almost every week. I like to reflect on the season last year. Fair was able to help keep folks off balanced but also the passing game was also good. If you have a Q B that can scamble and run along with those two and you have a total package. If you also look at the teams that advance very far into playoffs....they have two things...a very good defense and a very good, strong running game and limit their passing very muvh. Why pass when you can run. I agree, line those boys up, hand off the football and run like - - - - !! Good luck
  13. I understand. Good luck to the Rebels but as my above post said....my heart is with the Rebels but gut feeling is with the Chargers.
  14. Where are all of you posters.... I'm very suprised that no one is on here much from either team. Also, where are all of the Rebel posters from last year...kinda gone with the wind. Come on folks, get with the program and support your school.
  15. I like the Rebels in this game in some ways. Their offense is coming around. Berner has a good arm for a 10th grader. Cut down on the mistakes and the Rebels win. Only one thing, the running game has to open up behind all of those big linemen. The passing game is there and getting better but to win, you can run the ball and pass very little, your can just straight run the ball or run and pass. But you can't win by running the ball for very little yards and gaining most yards by passing. Passing gives the opportunities for picks-6's and with a young Q B, that happened 3 times against Ripley. Westview wins in the coaching as I think Cody is one of the best. He just has a tough district and pass Milan...Morris camp. The Rebels defense has to get better. Their offense isn't good enough to be in a scoring match. So I feel like this....Passing game - Rebels, Running Game - Westview, Coaching- Westview, Defense - Westview, Special Teams, Obion County. Westview wins by 10 points in a close game throught.
  16. Amen....we both overcame. Wayne Co. ...you will be back...no doubt!! Good luck this year.
  17. Here is a little facts for you to chew on there "bud". Power Ratings...you know what that means...strenght of schedule and here is what you have. http://www.sonnymoor...om/h-s-foot.htm Union City Ranked #172 Power Ranking of 101.02 ( Obion County Central a power Ranking of #142/104.20 and Wayne County Ranked #100..power ranking 111.70 ) This is out of 337 teams. And we blew out both of these teams with basically the mercy rule. Need I say more. I have the facts. I rest my case on who we or you play. Enjoy. l a k e co. Ranked #230 power ranking of 91.86......which show a much weaker schedule...much much weaker.
  18. The only time Fulton Co. had a decent season is when they won a single game in a single season. Yes, I do think Union City hung the moon.....they are the best, the same that you are saying about your team. It is your post that continues to show the disrespect to others. Yes, Murray is good, they picked up a new player this year that has helped them even more. But we each have a schedule to play....the best record at the end of the season goes on, last year, you did but we still beat your round 2 and kept on playing while your put away your equipment. The same will happen this year...just wait and see. We all know lake County will be ready for Union City and Union City the same. You have one D1 player who is good but there is 11 on the field. We have speed, more speed...and even moe speed. So see you down the road "bud".
  19. you're a trip man. You sound like a chess coach or a woman who knows nothing about football. Like I said before, who will be on the team by game time from your side who doesn't get kicked off or quits. Union City will run all over Lake County and playing Fulton County is like playing some 4th grade team who has just put pads on for the first time. Good luck...your gonna need it. And by the way, with your out of the blue remarks with no fact are causing the reaction from the Union City posters you are getting in return.
  20. Did yall win your "rent-a-win" game tonight and man,,,,,,,it sure is very silent overhere in green and yellow country.....lol!!!!!!! Can't wait til we meet your little team.
  21. I saw enough.....Ripley was pretty much in total control of game when I left....41 to 14 over the Rebels fianl 41 - 21. Rebels shot themselves in the foot. To many turnovers....that shows youth. After seeing them two weeks in a row, they did move the ball at times and Berner is their best. Defense is week, very week. They may win two games as I looked at their schedule, Gibson County and maybe Haywood County. I don't think the Rebels can play with South Gibson, Covington, Crocket Co or Dyersburg this year. Don't know about Mont. Central. It's a tough region, youth sometimes kills. That showed last year how tough no matter who you may have. Ripley will be a tough team and will grow also so they won't go away next year. . Anything can happen. What a difference a year makes. The rebels simply have NO speed to match with Speed. Their defense is slow. passing game is decent and they never give up. Good things happen to those who never give up. Good luck. Your in training for the next season right now, getting good snaps for the youth. As many Seniors as the rebels have, really hard to understand that not many of those are skilled enough to take over on the field, and that is the problem. The skilled players are young with no experience much and will get better each game even with a loss. I'm afraid it's going to be a long season for the Rebel faithful this year. Good night, on the road home. Oh, Sounds like Rebels tried to make interesting late.
  22. Union City scores with 2nd/3rd string team.....wow. Coaches may just play in this game.
  23. Glad I didn't make thr trip At troy seeing the Rebls / Ripley game instead. Union City has to much speed for this bunch.
