  1. I predicted Dresden to have about the same success as last year, and I was forced to admit I couldn't have been more wrong. One of my best friends is a sports writer and statistician. Winn averages more yards per carry than anybody in the state (15 ypc). I kid you not, he was averaging 23 ypc and throwing at 83% with 1 INT going into week 8. When Dresden faced the murderers row and big region three in Trenton, UC and Humboldt, just in that stretch, he was sacked a cartoonish amount of times (which hurt his ypc average). That's where Greenback will have an advantage, but their o line has got better based off what I got to see last Friday. Drop everybody back into zone coverage, and Dresden will proudly run the ball with Winn and Yates. Yates was averaging 13 YPC and had 1,296 rushing yards in the regular season, so, yeah, good luck with all that. I've watched Dresden more this year than I ever have, and they're seriously one of the best teams from this area ever. Greenback is one of the strongest contenders from the East in years. This game will be an absolute dog fight.
  2. Huh? Do you realize academics are part of the voting criteria? On that alone and his numbers on the field, you should just be thankful he was a semi-finalist. We'll just have to agree to disagree, but you don't have to find anything and go through the trouble. I have a memory. Your were a lone crusader despite maybe some fellow Falcons, but nobody in their right mind thought he should win based on meritorious value. I didn't watch the LC and Dresden game in person. I got to check out UC more than anybody last year, but you're using an illogical argument. One player gets to play a half, the other plays the entire game. That's also just one game. I have no idea what that has to do with 1968. If you take a kid like Ricky Henry from UC a few years back and put him on LC, he beats Halls and South Fulton, end of story. There's no numbers or good arguments to help you position here. I understand, though. You're just a faithful fan that's in favor of LC. There's nothing wrong with that.
  3. Oh, I'll go there. He averaged less yards per game than the other finalists, and he got the ball more. I can remember you blowing this out of proportion when they were announced last year. He got beat on paper by the other nominees and didn't get his team far. In 1A football, one player can do a lot. Nobody besides you thought he should've been a finalist, nobody. No offense, but did he even get to play college ball? Warbritton's case is completely different. There's a false equivalency here. The Wilkes kid just got beat, simple. A finalist should be able to beat teams like South Fulton and Halls and lead their teams to at least a playoff appearance in 1A. Heck, both Warbrittons would do that. I don't have a dog in this fight, but you set yourself up for that one. He didn't "deserve" to be a finalist anyway you slice or dice it. I got to see the kid play. I'm just an unbiased spectator that's telling you the truth. You couldn't have gave that kid a finalist spot based on the voting criteria. Anyway you slice or dice it, he lost. I know you're a fan of LC, but try to embrace the truth here. Nobody besides LC fans campaigned for him on here (including me). I got to watch him twice in 15', once against a good team and against a team with a losing record in 1A. There's kids outside of Tiptonville. You say 215 yards a game like that's so conclusive no one else has a shot. You also have to take into account a lot of nominees play in several one half games. Warbritton and many others have that trumped. I watched Dresser Winn have over 400 (300 passing and 100 rushing) total yards of offense in his first game ever his freshman year on a Thursday in week 0 against Martin Westview. Westview lost on a last minute play in the quarterfinals in 3A that year. You have to take a lot of things into account, but I can understand people from Lake County with a dog in the fight being passionate.
  4. I just don't understand their inconsistency. Warbritton went off that year, and the only argument they could've had is that he didn't have as many yards per attempt as the other kid (that's just my guess). He did have gigantic holes every play, but surely that wasn't a part of the voting. I personally think Diebold and the Pruett kid were overlooked, just from what I saw that year. Now this Dresden kid who won it last year has more passing TDs than incompletions, like what? I understand he had limited playing time, but c'mon. He had a lot fewer attempts than everyone last year, but surpassed the next closest guy by 700 yards, at least that's what the papers said. This year (according to the stat charts), pretty much everyone touched the ball twice as much as he did with rushing and passing, so they knew the circumstances and what they were doing. It's a shame. Come to think of it, did Terrence Bell or Boo Weathers from Huntingdon ever win the award? I can't remember. I remember watching them during the 2001-2003 run. They were impressive.
  5. This might be too close to call. I'm not going to make a prediction tonight, but my instincts say Liberty. They've got a special group.
  6. I seriously pray every time I hear of an injured player anywhere on this website, but you were just jumping up and down, weren't you? You fail to realize these kids are more than football players. You are as disrespectful as they come!
  7. That would be me, ill-mannered sir! Yup, this guy even threatened me at one point and edited his point soon after. He also was extremely happy and posted trash talk when the Dresden QB got hurt and when called out said,"Sorry, I didn't post "praying for your QB" or anything." That right there shows you he wasn't go to show any class. You're something else, Jtown. I'm still hoping I meet you someday.
  8. Yeah, but the Winn kid is just so much bigger and athletic. He's a good half a second faster on his 40 at least and has so much more arm strength with that wingspan. Is the Rice kid really 6"2? There's no way. I watched the ceremony live stream last year, and Winn dwarfed him. I also think Winn is taller than 6"3. A guy I work with from Dresden said he's 6"3 and three quarters with his shoes off at these college visits, but he still looks every bit of 6"4-6"5 to me. Rice supposively weighs 5 more lbs than him, but looks 35 lbs heavier. That doesn't make sense. Most high school high school recruits aren't honest about their height, weight, 40 time, etc.
  9. I've watched both teams this year. If the Huntingdon and Wayne County game is an indicator, NCS will badly out- coach Huntingdon. Huntingdon has always lived and died by three plays, and it seems their kids have got substantially smaller, which is strange.
  10. Beech, what do you guys think about this Jalen Hurd controversy? It took me by surprise.
  11. With the right hire, TC could have a return to form.
  12. I've only been to three Dresden games and only once did he play in the second half. That was against UC. He didn't even play in the fourth quarter of that game. Why would he play against Lake County that late? There's no way. I don't have access to Hudl either, but I'll take his word over yours.
  13. Right, but that kid is seriously bigger than a lot of linemen in 1A and is such a threat with his speed. My philosophy is that if you're not going to let your athletes open up in win or lose situations in fear of injury, you're in the wrong sport. But if he's cleared to play Friday, don't do run plays with him against the Yellowjackets lol. That's not warranted.
  14. CoachT says 6-6, second round of playoffs. It also says his freshman year they were 7-4, second round of playoffs.
  15. 😂😂😬😆😆 You're a funny guy.
  16. You weren't kidding when you referred to yourself as a motivational speaker, were you? Do you give pre-game speeches and such? Most top-level athletes are now using sport psychologists to gain a mental edge over their competition. Check these articles out; this is really fascinating stuff. http://www.sportspsychologycoaching.com/articles/TheMentalGameOfMixedMartialArts.html http://www.apa.org/gradpsych/2012/11/sport-psychology.aspx http://www.psychology-careers.com/sports-psychologist/
  17. That was my original plan, but I don't really want to see Huntingdon again after the Milan game. Also, their offense puts me to sleep, but its effectiveness can't be argued. I might still go there just to check out WC, but I don't know.
