WH v. Hume Fogg 0-0 9 mins in. Thundered out... Reschedule date TBD
  2. I had a friend/soccer coach from England once describe a defensive scheme for an over matched club called "parking the bus.". He explained the in parking the bus you put 9 defenders in the Penalty area with the keeper on his/her line and one player (fastest forward) at midfield. The nine are not allowed to go forward at all except maybe one other forward possibly to support the lone attacker in certain situations. Well last night I finally saw this defense employed. Wow! Like watching Dean Smiths teams running the four corners back in the day. It was about the most miserable soccer match I have ever seen. Luckily the girls finally figured it out after about 55 minutes. Anyone else ever faced this nonsense? Thoughts? Coaches, how do you suggest attacking it?
  3. This cannot possibly be real??? I thought I was pretty soccer centric.
  4. Elizabethtown 15 - Claiborne Nil First game jitters I suppose... I know this is a redundant topic, but hopefully we can get some chatter going about something...
  5. Battle of halves in White House. 2-0 WH at the half, Centennial came out like gangbusters and put up 3 goals in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half. Things evened out from there and both teams had chances in the final 30 mins but nobody could put anything on the board. Hard fought match and a good start to the season for both sides.

    Centennial 3-2 over White House
  7. White House kicks off the the 2012 campaign tomorrow night at home vs. Centennial. It should be a good one and will definitely serve as a good measuring stick right out of the gate. High hopes abound for the 11 White House seniors, but it is definitely put up or shut up time.
  8. WH v. Hendersonville 0-1, WH v. Gallatin 7-2, WH v. Rossview 2-0. WH v. Harpeth Hall on Tuesday.
  9. WH over Dyersburg 1-0 2OT
  10. ND Greeneville BDP CAK ND over Greeneville WH over CAK (in one of those Hoosiers moments) WH over ND (as a prelude to this fall) What???? A brother has gotta have a faith right? Anybody gonna be there tomorrow?
  11. Why does it always degrade to this argument... I mean does the whining really help you feel better about losing? The rules have not changed and probably will not change much at the reclassification either. This is the road you have to take if you want to bring home hardware. Whether you believe it is fair has no bearing. Life is not fair. The single most important factor is proximity to good club soccer. Period. Draw 20 minute circle around BWSC, TNFC, TUSC, MSC, ERSA, Lobos, and FC Alliance, then name how many schools outside those circles have won, or even been competitive at state regardless of classification. If you name some, odds are they have kids traveling to those clubs to play. I am a supporter of a rural public school who's teams have been knocked out of the tournament at one level or another by privates for as long as I have had a rooting interest. If there is anyone who can complain, we have earned the right... However, we schedule top competition, train year round and play select, to get better. Guess what... We are! And when we break through, it will be that much sweeter!!!! It may happen next week, or this November, or neither, or both....but our day is coming! And when it does, we will have EARNED it!!! BDP....
  12. Yep...girls are starting up here 6/4, the day after state cup...senior led workouts that is...
  13. Since no one has volunteered, and I am struggling with having to go back to my real life now that HS soccer season is over, I decided to add up the points. Here is what I came up with...If you disagree, feel free to post. my calculations do not come with a warranty of any kind... 14. ???...Heck if I know, you guys were the ones talking about overhearing parents or students or some such....I was just adding to the gossip chain.
  15. White House returns every player who had any significant minutes at all and if the 12 returning seniors do not make a deep run next year it is not going to happen in the near future. They were arguably the best team that did not make it to Chattanooga this season. These girls still have a lot to prove having lost 3 consecutive years in the regional semi-final round. If they can clear that hurdle the sky is the limit for this bunch. CPA only had 2 seniors on the roster but who knows about those rumored transfers. I don't know about Hume Fogg, I assume they were young since they were a non factor in '10. It should be a competitive 3 team race in region 5. One thing is for sure I cannot wait...there is plenty of club ball between now and then, but there is just something a little different about the high school season. The soccer is not nearly as good, but it sure is more entertaining...In this mans opinion anyway.
  16. It only was a list of the teams CPA beat in their run to the final. That is why there was no mention of CCS (I assume that is who you were referring to by CCA). Thanks for the parenthesis which confirmed what I was saying...Everyone CPA beat on the way to the final thought they should have won, but they didn't....
  17. See...that is the problem with electronic forms of communication...interpretation is in the eye of the reader. But you wrote that post within a short period of time of getting beat by them. And let me guess, you were left with a terrible taste in your mouth. Your girls dominated possesion. They dominated shots. They had plenty of opportunities. They did everything but win, right? Been there done that. CPA is a resourceful, spunky bunch of girls who have earned the right to play for the Championship tomorrow. The fact that WH, Hume-Fogg, GP, and ND are going to watch it from the bleachers, the couch, or on the computer while thinking the whole time that we are better than them does nothing to diminish their acheivement. Do I think CPA wins tomorrow? Not even a little bit...but I have thought that about them before. Go Region 5, Go CPA
  18. Let's not get chippy. Trust me us White House folks feel your pain Irish fans I've said it all year that I didn't think anyone had anything for CAK this season...
  19. I know lots of you are still in the midst of your playoff runs, but some of us are once again at home in the "wait until next year" mode. Any of you at State wanna offer enlightenment to the rest of us on what the final eight rosters look like for next year? i.e. How many seniors getting significant playing time?
  20. Quoted from the TSSAA handbook "The eight winners of the sectional games shall advance to the central tournament site. The Board of Control shall make the draw for play at the central tournament site. The draw will be made such that if two teams from the same region qualify for the state, they will be drawn to opposite brackets." You had 3 sets of the same region teams this year. Madison/Chester Co from Region 8, CPA/Hume-Fogg from Region 5, and ND/CCS from Region 4. That complicates things somewhat. Trust me I am no private school apologist, but it looks pretty fair to me.
  21. Here goes nothing...round 2 ND over Madison CPA over Gatlinburg-Pittman CAK over Hume-Fogg CCS over Chester County ND over CPA CAK over CCS CAK over ND avenging last years loss
  22. CPA won 1-0. Regarding Hume-Fogg, White House handled them easily in regular season...but it was part of one of the weirdest score comparisons of the season....WH 4-1 over Hume Fogg, H-F beats Brentwood Academy 2-1 and BA beats WH 4-0. The only other I can say about Hume Fogg is some of the parents need muzzles and/or lessons in class and decorum...We actually had to send parent escorts with some of our players to the restrooms during our match.
