  1. Dang! Got called out! lol. This may come by a surprise to some of y’all but I’m taking PEABODY in a close one! Hahahahaha! Peabody played well at TCA last yr and won there, I think it’s a tough match up player to player for TCA and I think the pressure of Peabody wears down TCA again! Both good teams and will be a good game! I just hope the refs don’t dictate the game and let the players decide it. A lot of foul trouble last time these 2 teams played, nobody wants to see #’s. 7,8+9 play the majority of the game! Btw Peabody is 17-7 and 8-1 in district and winners of their last 8 outa 10 with only losses to greenfield and GC during that stretch, including a win over TCA! I could prob find out the tie breaker rules today if y’all want me to?
  2. Come on now, game was 6 pts in 3rd quarter late. So I wouldn’t say controlled Peabody. Lead went up when Hart yanked his starters cause he wasn’t happy with them looked like to me!! Game was very ugly on both sides till then. Trouble scoring on both sides. Peabody did play horrible so agree with that but still close! A lot if people on here like looking thru rose colored glasses for their team! Btw all 3 teams control their own destiny if you win out you finish 1st unless I can’t add! Tourney is when it really matters anyway I wouldn’t wanna be 2nd or 4th if greenfield holds serve!
  3. Should be a good game! 32 min of pressure from Peabody can TCA handle it? Didn’t last time. TCA and GC as I have said before are supposed to win district this yr, but I don’t imagine Peabody gonna just give it to them. Btw 20+ turnovers for TCA last time vs PHS what I was told, and did you notice the foul trouble Peabody had from their best players sitting on the bench? Just messin with you Intense from an earlier post you had made, it’ll be a good game no matter who wins! Good luck to both teams!
  4. I don’t get on here very much so probably miss a ton of stuff said and don’t wanna go read back thru 100 posts but here’s my top team list for west Tn in single A. I truly believe more so than any year, this year anyone can beat anyone on a given night! 1. Greenfield. (Healthy now) (pressure of repeat?) 2. Gibson co (Can they stand the pressure of supposing to be the best? who’s go to person?) 3. Peabody (Gotta show they can beat GC, can 5 Sophs play like upper classmen now?) 4. TCA (Match up problem with Peabody, Have shown to have problems with athletic teams) 5. Gleason (Who have they beat that stands out? Guard that was hurt is back so helps them a ton!)
  5. Very simple why Peabody beat TCA, in your face, pressure defense for 32 minutes from very athletic and quick kids! TCA was wore out and turned it over like crazy! Foul trouble bothered both teams. TCA has no depth at all! Been telling everyone don’t forget Peabody! Young kids have come a long way, can make Peabody very dangerous to go with their 3 really good seniors! Great coaching also! Hart will find a way to beat you! Now In saying that 1 win or loss this early doesn’t mean anything, long way to go. All 3 good teams.
  6. Be an interesting game tonight with TCA traveling to GC! If TCA can not turn it over vs. GC they can win! TCA couldn’t handle Peabody’s in your face pressure defense the other night and that was the difference in the game! TCA loses this one it hurts them big time for trying to get #1 in the district! Big games still left ahead for the top 3! From what I hear, Peabody’s young kids have really come along this season if they keep progressing and playing like they have the last couple weeks to go with Peabody’s really good 3 seniors, Peabody has a chance to beat anyone!
  7. lol. Come on now, your telling me refs don’t even out fouls? On any level lol. I’ll stick with my statement that GC flops a ton around the basket cause they are slow sliding over in position and yes it’s being taught, i’m sure the players just don’t do it on their own. GC is good but the refs calling charges when the defensive player is not even close to being in position just cause the crowd yells chargeeee!!! is ridiculous! Westview pg beat GC with the dribble all night, like I said first time I’ve seen these 2 play this yr and both teams are decent but I thought the officiating was very one sided. No way fouls are 10-1 for a pressing team reaching and flopping against a half court defense team! Westview is not that bad defensively! My opinion, will agree to disagree but little ridiculous watching it and the Westview faithful gave the officials a standing ovation when they finally called a foul on GC so idk bout that statement by someone that Westview fans weren’t upset. Sorry hadn’t been on here in a while. Good luck to all teams!
  8. First time I've seen both these teams this year, had nothing better to do on Saturday lol. Just from my observation of the game, Westview has a lot of quit in them when things aren't going their way and I don't think they're as good as advertised. GC is a solid team but if you don't think they got every call from the refs idk what game you were watching. A lot of reaching, slapping and flopping going on around the basket. Now in saying that GC out played Westview in the 2nd half, GC made them quit. Just my thoughts.
  9. I'll just say this I wouldn't count Peabody out. Something always seems to happen around January with this group to where everything starts clicking! They're off to their best start this year in many years, very young and inexperienced with 5 sophs playing, but I think they will start coming around at the right time. Other teams to me have already peaked! Peabody has had a couple losses lately due to illness, injuries and best player being suspended because of a hot headed official! Something really need to be done about the officiating in the west! There needs to be some accountability! I know Peabody plays a very good team out of Mississippi 4A this week at Milan. State ranked and undefeated I think so that will be another game to go on their schedule that is as tough as anyone's around. I wouldn't count them out, Hart gets them playing their best at the right time coming down the stretch. And their pressure defense will cause problems for teams!
  10. Peabody picks up another win tonight to move to 7-1 on the season!
  11. Peabody is a team to watch, was supposed to be way down this year with everything they lost off last year's squad. They're 4-1 right now with good wins over good teams and only loss vs. Greenfield and had chances late to beat them. This is a very young and inexperienced team, (6/7 soph playing) haven't played anywhere near great yet, but if they're winning games now with not playing very well, I will be anxious to see how they play come January with Coach Hart making them better as the season goes on. He's one of the best around.. GC and TCA are by far favorites with everything they return, but I'd watch out come January and February for this Peabody team. BTW agree with GCpioneer, GC has several kids that can shoot it last time I saw them.
  12. Peabody is 3-0 currently. I expect them to get better as the season goes on. 6/7 sophomores plus 3 seniors playing, however all are very inexperienced in playing and their roles with what was lost off last yrs team. Ladt years seniors avgd 40+ pts for the team...The district and region this year is GC, TCA and Greenfield's to lose, ton of experienced players on those teams. If they don't dominate something's wrong .. Peabody may surprise some teams as the year goes on, and with Hart as coach they will win some games they shouldn't and he will get all he can out of them, but not a ton of basketball talent from all the young kids up in high school now. Like I said they'll get better as they gain experience through the year.
  13. Can't go much on summer team camps, but one surprise with what they lost from last season I'm hearing is how good Peabody looked this summer. Heard they played a ton of games, won a ton, and beat some really good teams. I was told their pressure defense might look better than it ever has with any group. That would be saying a lot. I was able to see them one day at Gleason and they beat 2 very good teams that day by 10+ and totally destroyed another team that is usually average. From talking to Coach Hart, he seems very excited about this team and happy with where they are at right now.
  14. I've been hearing a rumor that Coach Hart might go to Milan. Anyone else heard that? He'd be a good one to rebuild a program after what he's shown he can do at Peabody. Hope it's not true!
  15. Shot clock for sure be put into High School basketball. These coaches that teach passing the ball 50 times are #1 not preparing kids for college, #2 not teaching kids how to play basketball. It's not a game of keep away, you can teach anyone to cut and hold the ball, but can a true coach with basketball knowledge teach kids how to score and defend? Use screens? Ball screens? Defend 1-1, defend drives, defend different kinds of screens etc. It's rediculous when I hear people say this is fundamental, strategic basketball! You can have fundamental , strategic basketball while your playing the game and teaching kids how to make plays not play keep away because you haven't taught the skills to make plays or defend properly. 40 second shot clock and you can still run time, but then you really have to have strategy to make a play at the end of the clock and coaches have to decide how to defend that as well. Just my opinion, but it would make high school basketball a better game, I hear a lot of complaints from fans having to pay $6/$7 to watch teams pass it around for 2 minutes in the first quarter.
  16. If Greenfield plays like Greenfield, they beat GC by 15+. No comparison in the 2 teams. GC has a lot more if's to win than Greenfield does, let's just be honest here. Tess and Chloe doesn't get into foul trouble = Greenfield 15+!
  17. Man, people have got into their feelings on this message board! lol. If Cradle is Chloe's dad, he shouldn't be posting on here comparing the 2 players. Didn't he used to help coach as an ast or something also? That can be a big distraction for the kids and a shame. If GC beats Greenfield tomorrow night I'll start drinking the Wilkins kool aid also! lol.
  18. I'm going with : GC Greenfield Peabody Dresden
  19. Well since I wasn't cheering for either idk how that's gonna work out lol. Just watching the game and saying what I saw.
  20. Fouls cost Greenfield that game! If Tess doesn't foul out they win. Greenfield is still best team in region. Bad calls I thought. I think Greenfield coach is saving something also, hasn't switched anything up yet, while everyone else is throwing the kitchen sink at them already...My prediction is a Region Championship with Dresden vs. Greenfield. Greenfield losing is bad news for GC (who will win 14-A champ easily), which if I have this right they would prob meet in a region semi game. Greenfield wins that one. Peabody, Without Mayberry (who from what I hear possibly could be back for region) I don't think can get past first round. If Mayberry is healthy I take Peabody to make it. Peabody might show something different though tomorrow night, but big adjustment without Mayberry this late in the year.
  21. Idk about interesting, I just call it how I see it GCP. Coach Hart is a great coach, proven and done an amazing job since at Peabody since taking over. I think Peabody can still make some things happen here even if Mayberry doesn't come back, but the players have to make plays instead of looking for someone else to do it. Mayberry brought a sense of leadership to the floor every time I saw Peabody play this season and last night they didn't have that vs. a very bad Middleton team.
  22. Bullshark, you are exactly right! I wasted $6 tonight to watch some very bad basketball! I won't be back on Monday! Middleton is a terrible team with 1 player, Peabody played the worse and most uninspired game I have seen them play in 2-3 years! I know Mayberry is very very good, and Coach Hart used her for a variety of different things, but its hard to imagine that her loss had this big of an affect on the rest of the team. As for GC vs. TCA, I couldn't figure out which team was worse. No play makers, no great defenders to take the ball from the other team, turnovers everywhere. All I can say is that it was a night of terrible basketball. lol. I think Top 3 from 13-A easily win and prob whoever plays UC gets thru for 14-A, cause they're not very good either.
  23. My thoughts also bullshark. TCA guard play is not very good. 22 is strictly on the block, if guards can't get it to her shes not a big factor.
  24. Called post season, you never let up!
  25. IDK about a huge advantage, both Peabody and GC beat TCA on their home floor during the regular season. Player for player Peabody and GC are both better than TCA and should win. Sometimes more pressure playing at home! I pick Peabody still with or without Mayberry, this team gets after it defensively.
